Space Knight Tekkaman:

First, i watched the original 1975 series: Space Knight Tekkaman. While the show does offer couple of interesting elements & action. It is no wonder to me why it was canceled after 26 Eps (originally planned as 52 Eps) given that the plot & events were pretty, dull & slow in many Eps. It is sad though since i think that the show might have gotten better later but oh well.

Katsuji Mori plays the main character role Jouji Minami. It is worth mentioning that he also played the lead role in other Tatsuo Yoshida's works: Gatchaman and Mach GO GO GO.

Space Knight Tekkaman Blade I & II

This the best remake for any anime i have ever seen so far ! Character design, songs ("No Reason" is SUPER !) , music, story, events, plot and even has an impressive cast (seiyuu) ! All brings out a reborn classic with much better elements.

The same can be said for Tekkaman Blade II, which i actually watched long time ago on VHS before even watching the the Tekkaman or Tekkaman Blade, and enjoyed it. Now i enjoyed it MUCH MUCH MORE !! I couldn't help myself shouting "TEKK SETTAAAAAAA" when D-Boy joins the battle in the 3rd Eps

Oh ya, Aki Kisaragi is now officially 1 my favorite roles for Megumi Hayashibara. And so is Blade's Toshiyuki Morikawa :bowsmiley:

Though it seems to me that II is kind of a semi-sequel semi remake because it doesn't really complement the ending of the 1st series when D-Boy loses most of his memory & becomes handicapped or the special Eps "Missing Link".

I recall that 1 of my friends who bought the R2 set (for Tekkaman Blade) long time (& sold it :anger200:) that there were 4 special eps. Which made me wonder if the Eps that MB couldn't get did actually link the 2 series better or so ?

After finishing the shows, i started playing Super Robot Taisen J since it has Tekkaman Blade among the lines. I'll probably move to SRW W next. I hope that Tekkaman Blade will be featured in 1 of the SRW console games in the future.

Well thanks for reading & Tekkaman/Tekkaman Blade fan feel free to Tekk Set anytime :sdsmiley:

Edit: I forgot to mention that the Jouji Minami (the original Tekkaman) makes a brief appearance in Eps 47 of Tekkaman Blade. Though he isn't voiced by Katsuji Mori

It's been donkey's years since I last watched the original Tekkaman. I agree that it was a little slow in places, but it was a great show overall. I'm not certain on this, but I think the show actually made it to the US during the '80s, and more or less intact - some name changes here and there, but most if not all the violence was kept in. And man, was that show violent! Can't forget all those scenes of ships being eviscerated and people dying in the cold vacuum of space. Good wholesome fun there. :)
Hmm. One look ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tekkaman:_The_Space_Knight) at Wikipedia later, and it turns out the show did see a US release after all.

I've seen about half of the Original Tekkaman series, sometimes it was a bit slow but I found it enjoyable, it tries sometimes to hammer in a heavy 70's style enviromental message. I've watched the international version of Teknoman (way less editing than the US version) and I'm about halfway thru Tekkaman Blade - Masami Obari can do an awesome job when he sets his mind to it, You might also want to try Detonator Orgun -, and after that I'll finally be able to unwrap my copy of Tekkaman Blade 2 to watch it...:knowitall:

I didn't watch Teknoman so i can't really comment on it, if i did i would have probably bought it as a memorial but i guess it's Tekkaman Blade for me.

Masami Obari is one of my favorite creators, characters/mecha designer ! I even bought his Ecchi titles: Viper GTS & Angel Blade...even though i don't watch or buy that much E DVDs  I watched Detonator Orgun long time ago and loved it. Perhaps i should re-watched it since i don't remember much of it now :)

I would really like to see Masami returns with another action anime....i was hoping that he would do the upcoming Casshern TV series but oh well perhaps another show later :)

I've seen only a few of Obari's shows - Detonator Orgun was great, Gravion was bucketloads of fun, Dangaioh was enjoyable, (despite the version I saw being the chopped-up one) and I have Virus Buster Serge sitting on the shelf waiting to be finished. That's pretty decent too.
Speaking of Orgun, you definitely see a fair few elements of that show made their way into Tekkaman Blade. Not just in the character/mech designs, but some of the story elements seem fairly similar too. D-Boy's family and the Evoluders come to mind here.
Anyway, I need to finish up Blade as well. Thanks to a borked disc and it's subsequent replacement, it's been a few months since I last watched the series.
