Part 1, which is about 15 minutes long, was certainly interesting, especially with how detailed they were with showing how a part of a One Piece episode is made; they even went as far as saying what program they use! Some people at ANN looked for the program and saw that even for educational purposes it costs about $2000!

Anyway, this was easily one of ANN's most interesting "articles" and I am certainly wondering what Part 2 will be about.

After the failed experiment that was them trying to come over with titles like Air Master, good luck.

They won't ask the tough questions anyways.... it's not their M.O.:sweat1:

Here's a question I've got: when the hell are they gonna bring back Mike Toole for ANNTV? He hasn't been on in three months, and no explanation has been given for his outright disappearance (there were a couple times where they said he "needed more time", but the last of those was in March).

Glad people are enjoying the piece. We worked very hard on it. We're also really grateful to Toei Animation for giving us such unheard-of access to their facilities.

Anyone expecting tough questions to work with a Japanese company has clearly never worked with them. You have to be a little more passive about things like this, or you tend to get doors slammed in your face. And then nobody wins. I'd love for nothing more than a statement about such things, but even asking the question is something that will have to be gradually worked up to.

Unfortunately Mike Toole has been too busy to do more Anime Jump Shows for us (and he also suffered a hard drive crash that set him back even further). We hope he'll be back sooner rather than later.

I guess I still have the journalist in me from my time in the journalism field (which I won't get into). Meant no disrespect... and I'll stop there for a number of reasons....

Geez... now I feel bad about my intial post. Sorry being a bit harsh, but I loved his "Anime Jump Show" and eagerly await his return.

No offense taken (to either of you). I'm just happy to have someone get worked up over our video content. :D

I watched the video and thought it was incredibly interesting. I was actually a little bit surprised that during the history bits that Toei mentioned their lack of an audience in their early days and also mentioning their shows with somewhat infamous treatments here in North America like Sailor Moon and FOtNS.

And I reallyyyy want that animation program. It looks so easy to use, and all those editing features make animation look about at easy as drawing a picture in Paint.

I await Part 2 with excitement. SPECIAL EFFFECTTSSSSS!!!. :D

One thing this video reveals, is that their works really are produced in HD from the start.

This was something we could only assume from their website and product lately, but now we have confirmation in the studio that starting from the original keyframing everything is in HD.

Actually, it was really interesting for me because I can see now how a lot of the style used in action sequences in Pretty Cure came about: Especially the quick in between motion frames with sort of un-detailed art, have had sort of a rounded look to them, and I can see now that it's because of the software tools that they end up with that style. It seems to coincide with the year they claimed to have gone all digital as well.

They should get a special plug in which lets them stretch Luffy's limbs dynamically :). It shouldn't be that hard to program.

Well that was a really interesting video. Those kind of video are most of the time my favorites extra on a dvd. Continue the good job ANNTv.

Part 2 (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ann-tv/2008-06-08) is now up. This Part talks about how special effects are done as well as a look at the old analog machines that were used until 2000. Also, some talk about anime trends in both Japan and America and what Toei focuses more on in terms of production.
