Since I'm watching through the series, I figure it would be a good idea for me to actually comment on it. Especially since it's a 2006 series that I'm finally seriously watching in 2008. Plus it gives motivation to watch it. Even if my comments tend to be on the shorter side. In any case the usual ideal apply here.

1. When starting discussion on an episode that already has a sub thread reply to a post in that sub thread.

2. If the episode does not have a sub thread reply to the root post and change the subject to the episode in question.

3. Quick Reply is screwy so don't use it. As it fails to retain the subject line. Just use the quote button for the appropriate post.

Okay so in the first half we get some crazy lazy trying to prove the existence of the super natural. Funny how she didn't believe in magic.... Not exactly a stellar episode, but an interesting way to start the series. Plus you can't go with a twin tails vampire and of course a witch as well. The second half with them trying to get mail was kind of fun and well makes me feel sorry for them. In any case the opening is awesome.

All right then Liru's animal form is kind of cute, but I prefer looking at her more human form because I'm perverted. The second half was quite silly with them buying all those items. Although Pachira needs to understand the benefits to delicious flat chests.

The first half gives us plenty of Pachira goodness. She seems to be quite dedicated to getting that guy's blood. I feel jealous. Kind of funny to find out who's blood she got in the end. So in the second half we get the girls discussing their ideal guy and stuff along those lines in general. Seems like they're being watched too. Ah nothing like stripping down to your under garments. I feel so wrong watching this and I don't care. Also wow they're in an elevator?

Pachira. Also, Hirano Aya FTW <3

Pachira is definitely my favorite of the bunch, though I like them all besides Aiko, who I'm sort of indifferent to. I think it's those creepy metal hands.

Well in that case it's editing time... Too bad I can't stealth edit. Also it's good to know your dedication to her (Hirano Aya) is still strong.

I'm undecided on my favorite, but right now I prefer both Uma and Pachira over Liru and Aiko, but those two have their good points. In any case it will be fun to see how far I take this. Heck since I don't recognize episode 4 (In the middle of it) as easily as I did the first three it's a sign of how far I probably watched it originally.

This has to be her most overlooked role, having done this while she was doing Haruhi.

My favorite is Yuuma, for reasons that can't be discussed yet :3

She also made the cut as one of my Hirano Aya themed HDDs. Sexy blond twintails must never be overlooked!

All right so in the first half we have Liru playing in the rain while Uma and Pachira deal with poor Aiko who is having problems. Turns otut to be because of mold. Nothing like being reminded of how mechanical she is. So in the second half we have the girls learning of things and writing down various wishes (I think). It's kind of fun watching them be indecisive in terms of which wish to choose. Kind of reminds me of myself when deciding certain things. Also the ending animation is kind of on the weird side and seems to vary. Just a quick side note.

Ah so the first half is a fanservice episode. Ah nothing like going to the beach in swimsuits when it's cold. Uma's magic is screwy. Ah yes and some naked goodness too. And we get more beach goodness in the second half. That's quite the endowed mermaid... Well whatever works in the long run. Ah the whole crush thing was silly. From her desired guy falling for Uma instead to her revealing she found a better guy. A jelly fish? Then again considering what her original choice turned out to be that's probably for the best. Seems the guy's a ghost or something like that.

Ah yes Uma is in the next world now. In short she's dead(?). Ah yes the endless task thing is something I'm familiar with from myths. Seems some of the other characters are playing a different role. Liru as the one that makes sure the rocks never get/remain stacked. And now it's off hell with Pachira? And now we get hell with Aiko. Wow how many levels are there? You have to love Uma's attitude and she realizes she can't die. And now she's in heaven and there's not much for her to do. So in the end it's back to the mortal realm. Interesting first half over all. Ah so with the second half we get Uma putting on a show and the people around don't seem be interested. However once she gets angry at Pachira over a mistake in the sign and starts to cast a spell the people become interested. Mainly because her panties are showing. Yeah magic definitely has its advantages. Although it leads to poor burnt Pachira.

And that is why I love Yuuma. Personally I thought the trip to hell and back was one of the best parts of the series.

Ah so Yuuma does equal Uma after all. Maybe it's a translation thing. So far she's been rather awesome. Also watching through the first half of the series makes me wonder why I waited so long.

I'm not sure whether I liked Pachira or Y/Uma better, but I definitely liked Aiko the least. Liru was okay.

Ah, yet another series I wouldn't mind rewatching someday as it was quite fun.

Oh, definitely. The trip to hell was fantastic, and so was the magic show. Easily one of the best parts overall, and almost certainly the funniest.

The official spelling on the Magipoka website is "Uma" but the Japanese literally reads ゆうま/Yuuma. I preferred Yuuma myself, since I couldn't figure out a good reason why they'd make it Uma. Just take your pick or mix and match, doesn't matter.

Ah I see then, I guess so long as we know who we're talking about it's fine.

Honestly I don't have much to say in terms of the first half, but the second half was rather fun. Still how does a group of four get to be called Magical Five in the first place? Also the girls really need to go through a crash course and Gestalts.

The "invisible" character, if thats the ep you mean, was so amazingly bizarre.

Yeah it should be and it provided quite a few "What the heck?" moments.

I love this show. The stories are simple but charming and the characters are fun to watch in their curious exploration of real life stuff. Probably my favorite episode was when they were practicing English and if anyone got a phrase wrong, they had to drink some nasty juice as a punishment. Funny stuff.

Sadly, we'll probably never see this title in the U.S.

The more I watch of this and the more I enjoy this the sadder that thought becomes.

The first half was okay. Took a lot, but at least they helped those creatures out.... The second half was fun with the magic stuff. Poor Aiko if only you had gotten what you desired. Plus it would be nice to see her with more normal hands sooner or later.

It was good to see Aiko getting a story like that. Even though I don't really like her character, after that I could never dislike her.

Poor Liru trying to deal with her transformation, Yuuma's magic, and Pachiru in the first half. The second half was an interesting Christmas episode. Wow I'm progressing through this series faster than I suspected I would.

The second half was all kinds of wrong, but I guess the Raccoon thing explains everything.... The first half was nice with Miyuki who was quite cute until we found out what she was really up to. Okay even after that she was still cute. So much for her and her brother's plans. Still the "revenge" of the girls was fun.

The "invisible" character, if thats the ep you mean, was so amazingly bizarre.

Her name is Keimie, her VA (Nomiko) also voices one of the rabbity things and sings half the EDs.

I stil really regret only having one of the boxes for this series, especially since a license is looking less and less likely.

So in the first half we get lots of English and uh juice. Okay that was just weird especially with the repeated "Please Continue" stuff.. The second half was strange with the monsters being exposed. Too bad their fame was ruined by Uma not wearing her panties. Still is that such a bad thing? Yes I just asked that...

All right so the first half involves recordings and memories. While the second half has Uma apparently being better at magic because she has hay fever. Interestingly while the episodes were still on the comedic side they had more serious moments than usual. In any case it's on to the OVAs.

Suwako Moriya
05-31-2008, 03:36 PM
Hmm not sure what to make of this. It had its moments, but went by pretty fast. Seems these OVAs are only one half episode each instead of two. Ah well...

You know, I don't think I ever watched the OVAs of this. At least, I can't remember a "doctor" scene. I should probably make some time for that.

And thus for what seems to be the last one, we get the girls dealing with Valentine's day. Which makes for some rather strange talk about having to give it up. Well whatever works.

Well given that it's apparently only three "half" episodes, it should be easier to make time for them. At least compared to making time for the entire series. Still I'm glad to have watched it and finished it.

The reactions were also nothing short of priceless, especially every time Liru drank and instantly collapsed. Comedy brilliance.

Ahh, Magipoka. I watched this series during my "watch as many new titles as you possibly can" phase. As schoolwork piled up, the time to watch everything in sight decreased, but I was able to finish Magipoka relatively quickly.

The show in itself was pretty funny. Some of the episodes were pretty wacky and nonsensical, and it was these aspects of the series that did the trick. The episode with the English would be a pretty good example of this, I would think.

As for my favourite characters, they would be Liru and Yuma, Lilu being the most attractive out of the four to me, and Yuma being voiced by Momoko Saito, making her sound so adorable.

Has anime blog ever blogged the OAVs? Would be nice to see some screenshots?

I love the occasionally random yuri innuendo in the series. Too bad they never really developed that aspect.

I don't quite know how I ended up finding the time to watch through all of this so fast, but I'm glad that I did- it was silly and fun to watch. The partial addition of the 5th girl was kind of confusing at first, though it made for probably the most amusing of the ending theme/animation (the one for the OVAs). It would be interesting to see what the broadcast episodes looked like vs. the DVD ones (which were what the subs I watched were based off of) since there were some scenes that I imagine would have needed to be censored for broadcast.

I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favorite out of them, though I generally liked Aiko the least (like others, it's the weird hands and feet probably) but at the same time it's really hard to dislike her. It's kind of a pity they didn't do more with the invisible girl as well.

Not a peep.

If you liked this you should check out Kemeko DX and Macademi Wasshoi, they are somewhat in the same vein.

Don't we already have a thread on this anime? A quick search will easily bring that up.
