I cant rember all i know is the show took place in the middle ages and a father was trying to raised his daughter as a man. if any one could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Other animes have girls posing as males, if there is no son left, or the daughter is better as an heir. ..suke on the end of a name usually gives the game away.

2 other animes, Yotoden (CPM) & Abashiri Family (ADV VHS) have deadly female ninjas posing as boys, both with "suke" on the end of their names. The most extreme tomboys maybe.

Not anime, but Disney's "Mulan" is the modern example.
