Mamoru grows into an ordinary grade school student, until the day when his class is caught up in a ferocious attack by the mechanoid alien Zonders. The young cyborg hero, Gai Shishio, is sent by the UN alien defense force "3G." He risks his own life without question to protect Mamoru's class and all of Earth. Drawn by the power of his mysterious origins, Mamoru becomes a member of 3G, joining the ranks of humanity's bravest defenders. They wage all-out war against the Zonders with their advanced vehicles, weapons and AI robots. When their backs are up against the wall, Gai Fuses with Galeon and 3G's Gao Machines to form the indomitable King of all robots: Gao-Gai-Gar! The show is simply a lot of classic big mecha action with death abound. Toss in a lot of nods to the earlier series and a grand scale plot and this show is a winner once again. On a desolate road in the snowy mountains, a childless couple wished upon a falling star. The star is revealed to be Galeon, a mechanical lion who delivers the baby Mamoru into their arms. But even in the face of these Awe-inspiring machines, the bravery of humanity in its darkest hour is the true Key to Victory!
How We See It: This release is something of a surprise as it took Media Blasters a year to get it out after the fifth volume of the series was released. They're usually far quicker, and you'd expect that even more considering the series seems to have failed with its sales. That said, this collection brings out the first five volumes in bilingual format just a couple of months before the second set is due out that will give us the remainder of the show at long last. With such a low price and so much content, giant robot fans should be flocking to this.
See the original releases here and other related releases.

Compiling the various Crystania releases which have also seen Essential Anime re-releases over the years, this complete collection brings the fantasy show into one nice set that's priced very sweetly and makes it easy to check out. This is an impulse purchase show that's worth taking a mild risk on.
See the original releases here and other related releases.

It's been about a year since the last collection for this came out but it's not a surprise to see it surface once more. What we saw in that collection is really the same here outside of the artwork changes for the box so there isn't exactly much of a wait on this if you really must have it. It all comes down to boxart preferences.
See the original releases here and other related releases.

While the AEUG resistance group strives to convince the world of the justice of its cause, the brutal Titans continue to suppress dissent through violence and fear.
Now the struggle enters a new phase as a powerful third force enters the battlefield, and the AEUG and Titans race to enlist the support of the mysterious Axis renegades. Confronted with his past, Char Aznable at last decides to embrace his role as leader of the AEUG. But his choice may have come too late, for the Titans have completed their most terrible and devastating weapon.
How We See It: Nearly two years after the singles finished, but very quickly after the first half of the series collection came out, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam draws to a close with a strong set. The show is simply a lot of classic big mecha action with death abound. Toss in a lot of nods to the earlier series and a grand scale plot and this show is a winner once again. The collection is certainly well priced and with it containing a big chunk of the show, it's something that's very easy to recommend if you liked the first half since it only gets better here.
See the original releases here and other related releases.

Only most of the threats these girls face are of the paranormal variety (not to mention hilarious!)
How We See It: One of the weaker shows from 2007 from ADV Films, it gets collected a year after the final volume. Moeyo Ken works well as an introductory show for newer anime fans but it's a bit more difficult for older fans who have seen this done so many times before, and often better. This collection is also likely to get a re-release someday with the inclusion of the OVAs which keeps this from being a true "complete" set.
See the original releases here and other related releases.

Stripped down and put into thinpak form, it's not exactly the cheapest it could be but it's a series that's grown increasingly harder to find so with a few discounts it's an easy enough one to digest.
See the original releases here and other related releases.

Two female assassins embark on a journey through the ultimate darkness.
How We See It: Similar to some of their other series like Full Metal Panic, Noir is a title that continues to sell well years after it's been released in collected form. Having spent some time at company booths, it's fascinating to see what still gets picked up and cleaned out and Noir is one of those titles. With some new artwork to it, the box will probably do quite well and will attract attention once again. Though it's not one that is quite as evergreen as FMP!, Noir is something that has a very basic appeal to a more mainstream audience.
See the original releases here and other related releases.

For those that do, this set brings out over 500 minutes of the show in a new set at a somewhat decent price considering it's only in English. It's been many years since we first saw it and it's incomplete, but Ninja Resurrection just clicked for us when we first saw it. Few shows are made of this manner anymore and for that alone it stands out. With the original now fairly out of print and the Essential Anime Collection edition hard to find as well, putting a little ultraviolence into the mix doesn't hurt at all, especially if you can nab it for around 10 bucks with discounts.
See the original releases here and other related releases.
