Q: Slayers, which order?

I recently bought the Slayers OVA-collection as well as the first two season collections and the movie-box. Here is my problem though; the season-boxes and the movie-box is on backorder and I have only recieved the OVA-collection.

Now my questions; Can I watch the ovas anyways? I have read that the Excellent ova takes place before the first season so that one should be ok to watch, right? And there in the Slayers timeline lies the movies?

To my knowledge, almost all of the movies and OVAs take place before the TV series, so you can watch them all first. I think there's only one exception (Premium? The one with the squid or something...) but I found it pretty darn awful and I believe it's irrelevant to the main story of the TV series. Other than that, they're all Lina/Naga stories, and I don't really like Naga, so the ones I've seen didn't do much for me.

As for what order they go in... honestly I never noticed a difference when I watched various bits and pieces, so I don't think it's all that important. They seem to be mostly one-off stories.

Beyond that, the TV series are obviously Slayers > Next > Try. I actually saw Try first, but that was yeeeeears ago. And I saw the OVAs/movies mostly after the TV series, and that wasn't a problem at all. You don't really have to watch the movies/ovas first, they can come whenever.

As Something said, most of the movies/ovas take place prior to the series, but don't really fit anywhere specific to each other. Looking at Slayers Premium, it best fits in between Next and Try, but again it doesn't matter all too much where you watch it.

The only part that matters is watching Slayers > Next > Try (> Revolution)

Yup, all The Naga ones (the movies and OAVs) are pre- Season 1 TV (Slayers), so go ahead and watch them. You should watch Slayers Premium after Season 2 TV (slayers Next) since it has characters introduced in Slayers Next. Continuity isn't really that big of any issue for the movies and OAVs in my mind.

Pretty much, the Movies and OAVs are separate stories, but the adventures with Naga all came before the TV series. Premium comes in the middle of the TV series.

Slayers NEXT: The Second Season (BTW, this is the last season that follows the novels)
Slayers Premium (takes place between Next and Try) (Movie 5)
Slayers TRY: The Third Season
Slayers REVOLUTION
