Pious characters

Deciding to watch a bit of Galaxy Angel for the first time in a while, I was reminded that Vanilla's whole gimmick is that she is a strict devotee of a vague, never-explained religious code.

That got me to thinking: there aren't really that many characters in anime who are really religious. Sure there are shrine maidens everywhere, but a hefty majority of them don't care any more about Shinto than their next meal. Where are the faithful?

The only one that comes immediately to mind is Karen Kasumi from X. Even though her day job isn't Catholic, she sure as purgatory is.

Hellsing has a bunch of those characters. Most notorious would be Fr. Anderson.

Yugo The Negotiator has numerous dedicated muslims in the Pakistan arc.

Would Ciel from Tsukihime qualify? She takes her orders from the church seriously. Although she tries to "fit in".

The conviction arc from Berserk is full of them, especially pastor Creepy-as-hell there.

Just about every non-demon character that is part of the Magdalene Order from Chrono Crusade is that way and especially Sister Kate who has a strict code of conduct.
