For people in the Boston area, I happened to walk past the Brattle Theater in Cambridge, MA this afternoon, and noticed that The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (http://timeleap.bandai-ent.com/) has been scheduled at the Brattle (http://www.brattlefilm.org/brattlefilm/movie_detail/080822.html) for August 22 through August 24. The Bandai web site hasn't been updated yet with the dates, so people might have missed it.
"Tokikake" is a really sweet movie, and I recommend that people in the area go see it that weekend if possible.
(Apologies if this is the wrong forum.)

Whooooo! Nothing to do at the end of August so I see myself getting over there. Haven't been to the theater yet, I missed Palanski's Chinatown and Kubrick's 2001.

Tokikake plays really well on the big screen. Highly Recommended!
Noel Vera reviewed it recently; YAY:

Nitpick: He spelled Mamoru Hosoda's name slightly off ("Hosada")
I can't wait to see this one again. I doubt it will be on the big screen near me, so I just have to wait until November with the DVD release. I'm looking forward to the dub too.
So, from what I can tell, the closest theatre to me that's planning on airing the movie is 1200 miles away. Fan-freaking-tastic. Oh well, all I know is I'll be pre-ordering the Bandai DVD.

For people who have been there before how is the Brattle? How does it compare to Coolidge Corner?

The Brattle Theater is quite small -- much smaller than the massive Coolidge main screen. Unlike the Coolidge they show a different movie almost every weeknight or weekend; "Tokikake's" Friday-Monday run is above average in length. They like to schedule season-long repertory series of related films, for instance a run of Kurosawa films or Coen films. If they happen to be showing a series you're interested in, you can end up going once or twice a week because some of what they show isn't always available on DVD (http://www.brattlefilm.org/brattlefilm/series/2008/nikkatsu.html).
