This looks like a treat for fans of the game series in the vein of Advent Children, but I reckon it's probably easier to do with Resident Evil because the games tend to follow such a movie-like plot formula. The story to date (or the convoluted mess that passes for it) is also a lot more open to endless sequels. That said, watching the trailer kind of just makes me wish this was a game instead! Leon and Claire in a zombie-infested airport is a winning premise if I ever heard one.

I also kind of wish they were just making a movie adaptation of the first game and going from there, since the movie series we do have is so awful. There have been three separate video game versions of RE1's story already though, so maybe they feel it's played out.

On the whole I'm really looking forward to this, but it's not quite what I'd like them to be doing. Your thoughts?

Looks very nice ! i guess it's more of a sequel to RE2 or 4. If i am not mistaken the VAs for Leon & claire are the same ones from the games.

I can't wait to watch it :)

It's set between RE4 and RE5, but centering on Leon and Claire does give off a (very welcome) RE2 vibe. Looks like it sets up the resurgence of the T-virus, making it a bit more relevant that Chris is apparently seeking out the origin of the virus in RE5.

It features Claire's VA from Code Veronica and Leon's VA from RE4, but I think they were both played by different actors in RE2. The RE cast has changed a lot over the years.

Claire was voiced in both RE2 and CV by Alyson Court, so she must be the only person to have a consistent voice throughout the series. I can't think of another character in the series who appears across multiple games who hasn't been potrayed by a different actor.

It does look quite good, but the imagery looks more like a video game cut scene, rather than a standlone animation feature like Advent Children.

Yes, it would be nice if they had stuck more with the original RE storyline. I don't like the live action movies that much. I saw the first one. It was okay but since it was the Resident Evil movie. I was a bit disappointed by a lot of the changes. And, I only saw part of the second one on cable. Not interested in the others.

I am definitely interested Resident Evil/Biohazard: Degeneration.

I hope there will be a Japanese track as well. :catgirl:

I was counting that as one of the three, alongside the original game (with its various ports) and the GC remake. What other version is there?

I'd be incredibly surprised if there was, but it would definitely be interesting.

There were some Drama CDs for Resident Evil 2 (aka: Bio Hazard 2) that featured mostly new characters instead of the main ones and they were in Japanese of course. I think that they there might a JP track, which would be nice (if the cast is good) but if it won't have, then i won't be disappointed.

I don't see why there wouldn't be, considering Sony gave one to Advent Children, and I'm sure they'll be releasing this in Japan with a Japanese track. I suppose it's possible it won't be on the US release, depending on when it comes out on DVD/Blu-ray in comparison with the Japanese release.

Resident Evil has never had a Japanese vocal track.

So? There's never been a Resident Evil animated movie before, either.

Edit: and actually, Resident Evil has been in Japanese before if you count the Japanese dub of the live-action movies. Although those were naturally called "Biohazard" in Japan.

True, but there have been plenty of fully-voiced CG cutscenes (which this movie is styled after), all in English with Japanese subtitles. (I'd go as far as to say that the Biohazard franchise is designed to come across as an American movie presented with Japanese subtitles.) It wouldn't be outside the realm of reason for them to make a Japanese vocal track for this movie, but it would be a change of pace and seem a bit at odds with the rest of the canon story it's meant to fit in with.

Video games are a different story. Pretty much everything that's not uber-niche gets a Japanese dub when it's released on DVD nowadays, the Biohazard CG movie will be no different. If it gets a theatrical run it'll probably have both sub and dub in theaters as well, like most other movies.

Wow, that's some awful CG animation. Its video game cutscene bad.

Lets just hope it doesn't have that old time Resident Evil voice acting
