Got this from Derailed by Darry (http://derailedbydarry.com/archives/2008/08/28/1812/):

Vandread 2? (http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/8353/vandread2dk2.jpg)

No info on the source, so I don't know what to make out of this.

If true, don't ruin it Gonzo :depressed:.

I hope this is true.

Vandread needs more popularity. It's one of those shows that just never got main stream, even though it deserved it.

Its OOOOOOOLD plans from around when Second Stage aired. Don't expect anything to come of it.

There was talk at one point of continuing the show and having it jump ahead several years and star the daughter of Hibiki and Dita but like Fencedude said, it's been a few years and nothing ever came of it. I like the show myself, so I'd be in for a sequel, but I think too much time has passed for the show now...

While I wouldn't be in opposition to a sequel, I personally would love for the story to pick up where it left off instead of jumping many years into the future. That's just my opinion, however.

But putting all of that aside, I think the original ended on a pretty high note, and if there's never any more Vandread... at least it ended well. :)

Wasn't there sketches or profiles of three characters that were supposed to be the offspring of Hibiki with not only Dita, but Meia and Jura as well?

I seem to recall either seeing them or hearing about them somewhere. ???

Someone had said once (and I don't remember who, just a random post on this board) that the original plans for second stage was to jump ahead slightly, with Hibiki already fathering kids with Meia and Dita. It got changed, and we got what we got. I've only heard it that once though, so I can't really say its credible.

You raised my hopes and dashed them so expertly, sir! Bravo! :)

I don't know, it's certainly not unheard of for an old show to make a comeback - We've got a new Slayers, and there's Casshern and Mazinger sequels/remakes on the way. Heck, Yokai Ningen Bem got a remake two years ago, and the original show came out in 1968, so it's never too late.

Still, I doubt we'll see another Vandread any time soon, though.

I just don't see any Vandread sequel happenning. It would be nice, but by all means this stuff is unnecessary since the story finished.

Well, a sequel would be good in that it might lead to the OVAs finally being licensed.

I had no idea that there were OVAs. ???

Please elaborate, if possible, what they were about... or were they merely a recap of the series? :)

I saw at least one of them fansubbed a long time ago. According to ANN they are mainly summaries.

Vandread Taidouhen (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2937)
Vandread Gekitouhen (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2344)

Yup—Taidouhen has 75 seconds of new, spoilerish introduction; I haven't watched Gekitouhen. See "Ask John: How Much Vandread is There?" (http://www.animenation.net/blog/2002/02/05/ask-john-how-much-vandread-is-there/)

Ahhh... I see.

Not much to "write home about" then. :)

Although my curiosity is piqued slightly as to what exactly the "original footage" is that they speak of in Vandread Taidouhen.

Hmmm...

I read that as well. I'm glad they didn't quite go with that route, because I liked seeing how the relationships with Hibiki and the other girls, especially Dita, played out in real time rather than in flashbacks. I honestly enjoyed Second Stage more than the first season, though it was good too.

I'd love for there to be another Vandread title created. I have to say that Vandread is one of the more surprisingly pleasant titles I have ever watched. I even ordered it and Vandread Second Stage before I'd even received all of the DVD's from the online rental site.

Man, I think I'm going to have to take some time and re-watch that while I'm off.

Totally agree-that and Gate Keepers.
