Figure Information Sites - Too lazy to read through this thread? Info people being stingy and not posting stuff to your liking? Try checking out some of these pages to get your figure fix on.

Pages in Japanese (the moon language is strong here beware):
Bishoujo Figure ni Moero! (http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/kitkat22/) (Amiami's RSS feed site for bishoujo figures)

Hiyorin.net (http://www.hiyorin.net/) (great site for info, but is occasionally inaccessible)

Pages in Engrish (no nihongo por favor):
AAA Anime (http://www.aaaanime.com/) (basically if you see it here, it's being released in the US)

Diamond Comics Toychest (http://toychest.diamondcomics.com/public/) (Previews the website. If you don't go to your comic shop, you can see upcoming diamond distributed figures here, but the layout is a bit confusing)

Danny Choo (http://www.dannychoo.com/) (A stormtrooper who also does figure reviews)

Yeah, first presses sold out at most places within the first few weeks of pre-orders.

That or hit e-bay/yahoo.co.jp or hope you get lucky with extra stock at one of the other stores.

EDIT: You are talking about the Nendoroid Miku right? I don't think any of the actual official PVC scale figures have been announced for release yet.

The Ringo from Air Gear is up for preorder now! I ordered mine at Hobby Search! HLJ doesn't have it up yet.

Nice pictures at Heisei Democracy. http://heiseidemocracy.com/2008/04/10/yamatos-noyamano-ringo-preorder-open/

The bag is freaking me out.. I'm puzzled about how you get it on the head over all that hair?! I think it comes apart and you snap it back together, but it still looks small... :knowitall:
Not that I'll probably ever use it, as the face was a big selling point for me on this figure.

Really want to watch and read Air Gear...

I seem to have missed that Takai Corperation is releasing a full cast-off Kosaka Tamaki (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/94350;jsessionid=D3AE30602B22F2289B5AAEA20E81EA0F) from To Hearts2 in a Kimono. Kimono are so nice, I'm not sure why anyone would want to. Actually, now that I think of it, there aren't that many figures in Kimono.

Might I suggest Toy's Logic (http://www.toyslogic.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2721)? If that doesn't work, I can hunt around for others too. I don't actually know if any nendoroids have had second pressings yet.

And it was announced yesterday that the Nendoroid Mikuru (http://www.getchu.com/soft.phtml?id=537125) would be reissued.

Happinet is releasing a Belldandy (http://www.happinetonline.com/NASApp/mnas/MxMProduct?Action=prd_detail&KIND=0&SHOP_ID=1&PRODUCT_ID=4543341131485) too, for those Ah My Goddess fans. Sadly, not a nendoroid though.

I pre-ordered mine on toyslogic, gee lemme think for a sec.... hmmm, I think it was like the day after you first posted news about this Ringo figure... I randomly saw it in their rotating image of new products... It's for $59.99 right now. You're right about the bag, if you see the anime (not sure about the manga) it's pretty big for her head. You really don't want it there anyways Ringo is fabulous in that outfit though. She totally smokes Simca is best outfit. *is glad there's no Simca with an alternate hair piece*

That's cool. I'll keep my Hobby Search order though.. I've learned that most times you don't save all that much ordering domestically anyway. Plus I'll get it faster! :nosebleed:

Most of the savings comes from the shipping costs and not from the figure itself. It's much cheaper to order ground service for a domestic figure than EMS for an import figure. A few times my shipping has cost me more than the figure itself.

Of course I still import alot of stuff, but mainly things I doubt will come over anytime soon like Soge King (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10069655) (I missed out on Franky.)

Back when I did the calculations, I detected no significant difference between mostly SAL shipping from HLJ versus purchasing a figure domestically at the cheapest domestic place I could find (20% off with free shipping). With the 5% pre-order discount, HLJ was slightly cheaper. An exchange rate of 110 yen to 1 (US) dollar was used. SAL shipping calculations were derived as follows:

Sample Size: 42
Average: 19.41%
Median:19.11%
Max: 43.53% (this is an outlier since I made the misake of ordering a few books from HLJ--the next highest value is 28.29%)
Min: 11.29%
Standard Deviation: 5.96%

Now, I have not taken into account recent increases in the shipping costs due to increases in fuel costs or any short-term arbitrage due the declining value of the dollar. I suppose I should update my list and re-run them.

I know that it's about even with SAL, that's why I specified EMS. :)

That's one of the reasons why I liked Amenbo so much for figures since they use to have a Sea Mail option too. I got a 1/4 scale figure shipped for $5 from them... although it took two months to deliver. Of course this mainly applies to when you purchase figures one at a time.

If you are like me and buy 5 and 6 figures at a go... well I'll explain.

For example, I would take the recently released Yamashita figure Petra. HLJ price is 6800 yen. Hobby Search price is 6460 yen. Kid Nemo has it for $67.85. Play Asia has it for $64.90. Twin Moon has it for 64.99.

The price variance isn't anything significant on any of the sites with the current exchange rate. HLJ would be the most expensive currently, but with a 110 exchange rate they would be the second cheapest. Hobby Search would be the cheapest in either the current exchange rate or the 110 exchange rate.

The real problem comes with the shipping:

Hobby Search always does EMS so the shipping for them would be around $25.
HLJ says their SAL would be $12.
Kid Nemo has a flat rate of $7.50
Play Asia lists $15.90
Twin Moon estimates $9

I'll use a conversion rate of 110 yen (not even going to bother trying for exact numbers):
Hobby Search = $84
Play Asia = $81
Kid Nemo = $75
Twin Moon = $74
HLJ = $73

Winner = HLJ

But what if I wanted to add the Rider Fantasy Maid figure from GSC to the order? For HLJ and SAL that adds another $8 shipping to my order, making the shipping total 20 (410g + 680g at current rates would be around $25 to zone 3 (http://www.post.japanpost.jp/english/fee/intel/parcel.html#parcel_03) actually). Where as the Twin Moon shipping only goes up another $3 to $11.

Plus once your package gets too heavy, SAL starts costing more than EMS. Take for example the Daiki Kogyou Mai Shiranui where HLJ estimates at 4700 EMS vs 5000 SAL.

SAL gets more expensive as you approach 2kg. I doubt many of you have purchased over 2kg of stuff at once, but SAL ends after 2kg for some carriers.

The thing with HLJ is if your order exceeds a certain value ($200, I think), they automatically ship EMS. So I'm not sure if you could get 2kg to ship Sal through them. I admit I tend to order smaller batches, since I try to avoid EMS. Plus, some figures go out of print so quickly. Also, HLJ has their "revolving door" shipping policy. Even during the months I do order six to eight figures, because of that, they make several shipments.

For large orders of stuff I am somewhat interested in, Robert's seems cheap enough, during a figure sale and using one of his holiday coupons. AnimeXing was the cheapest I found for a while, until they raised their prices.

Interesting comparison though. I admit I did not look at the cost-effectiveness of ordering more than one figure at a time in relation to shipping. Instead, I looked at the cost of shipping per item.

A lot was announced this week, and since I was lazy, I figured I'd just post it all at once. I think I got everything.

First, Griffon knows what we want, and what we want is Marianne-sempai in a sukumizu (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95486). Out in August.

Second, we get more Tony Taka goodness with Kotobukiya offering one more figure from Shining Tears: the nekomimi goddess Mao (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95394). Also, they're releasing Haruka (http://www.kotobukiya.co.jp/kotobukiya/release/20080414/haruka.html) from Choukou Sennin Haruka.

Toys Works is releasing a sexy Shana DX set (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95392) and Kamikita Komari (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95398) from Little Busters! Both in July. From Koharu Biyori, a cast-offable Black Yui (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95399) & White Yui (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95400) in July and a cast-offable red (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95403) & pink (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95404) Minori in August.

Organic wants us to get naked with a cast-offable Amuro (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95396) and a Mirei (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95397) in July.

Newline is releasing a PVC of Corticarte Apa Lagranges in a bikini carrying an innertube (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95301) from Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica.

Goodsmile is releasing a swimsuit Hayase Mitsuki PVC (http://www.goodsmile.info/products/gsc/2008/gsc0809-01.html) in September to go with Haruka (KimiNozo) and also a
Lala Satalin Deviluke PVC (http://www.goodsmile.info/products/gsc/2008/gsc0808-02.html) in August.

Questioners is releasing some NSFW Nurse (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95422) in June.

Clay is apparently releasing a Miyako-chan (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95627) PVC (ef - a tale of memories) in May. What is interesting is that she's sitting down. I can't remember too many figures with that pose.

For Lego, it seems an Emma doll (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95640) is coming out soon.

And although I'm sure everyone has already heard about it, Max Factory is two (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95554) different versions (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95553) of Hoshii Miki(?) from THE iDOLM@STER in September.

Although certainly Good Smile's Hatsune Miku (http://www.goodsmile.info/products/gsc/2008/gsc0809-02.html) deserves the attention she is getting, let us not neglect what else has been announced recently. Thus, without further ado,

Kotobukiya is hopping on the Kudryavka band wagon with a super-moe PVC ( http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95813
) of her in August (Little Busters!). In addition, Kotobukiya has graced us with Tama-chan (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95815) from Bamboo Blade, a nekomimi, sukumizu Nekomiya Nono ( http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95814) from Yotsunoha, and, for the ladies, some pretty-looking guy ( http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95816) from Tales of Destiny. All will also be released in August.

Speaking of August, Wave is releasing a very shy Shiro Togi ( http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95713
) from August’s Fortune Arterial in, of course, August. In September, Wave is giving us a double dose of ToHeart2 with a maid Tamaki ( http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95715) and normal Sasara ( http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95714) .

Not a bad looking figure.

Actually, if they'd give us a Hinagiku from Hayate the Combat Butler in her kendo kit, I'd definitely buy it. I don't really like the Hinagiku figure I've already seen.

Got my preorder in with HLJ. They listed it pretty quick this time while the Kima ga Nozomu Eien figure I've been eying which was announced before her has yet to be put up. Miku seems to be very popular as reservations have already closed. I wonder if it's just because she's a pretty figure or all the youtube coverage she gets. Probably both.

Yeah I've noticed her preorders closed *really* quick. It's a very nice figure of her. Luckily I haven't fallen in to this fad. Had the Nendoroid ordered from the first pressing, but canceled it. It's like I only wanted to order it because it was going to be popular(not to mention I found it to be very cute). But I stepped back and asked myself is it something I just *had* to have or was I just buying in to the hype. I always figure if I find out later that I really want it I can track it down. I had a bit of that with the Haruhi Freeing figures too, though I got Haruhi and Mikuru(and they are pretty nice) I still may buy Yuki sometime, but I'm undecided really.

So I guess fan hype can be a pretty big motivator for buying certain figures. I think it's worse for collectors because they worry about missing out on a figure and not being able to buy it later.

Well, the Hatsune Miku Nendoroid sold at leat 50,000 units from its first release (hence, the second printing). Hopefully, they'll do one of the PVC too, since I missed the HLJ window.

First, Bandai is getting on the To-LOVEる bandwagon with two figures in August: one of Lala Satalin Deviluke (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/96036) taking a shower (in a swimsuit that does not appear to be cast-offable ;_; ) and Haruna (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/96037) in a bikini. It appears both figures change colour ([edit] confirmed).

Second, two (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95970) cute girls (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/95971) I don't know the name of from Hoshifuru Seitou School Astronomical Club in September.

She's from some sort of game that's popular in Japan and I think it's a trading card game, of course called Queen's Blade. Been seeing *alot* of nice figures coming from this game, but this is the first that I felt was a must buy. I guess I fell in love with this characters design when I first saw it in Megumi Creators November 07 issue volume 9. Didn't know she was from that series though. After looking through that issue again, it seems like it's a computer game that's like a card game... Eh, doesn't matter much to me, I just want the awesome figure! :sdsmiley:

For Haruna? I personally thought it was the better of the two. The Lala one seemed kind of off to me. I confess I was not really looking closely at her face though. ^^U

Still, I'm holding out for a To LOVEる figure that remains true to the spirit of the original work: the manga showed nipples. We deserve cast-off of at least the top.^^

Cold cast figs are typically resin/ceramic based. They are usually much heavier than PVC.
The advantage of cold cast is that they are more rigid and dont develop "droop" over time which some poorly balanced PVC figures do and they are be in very dynamic poses without rigid support.
Typically they also hold more detail than PVC.
Disadvantage? Brittle - ie they breaksaur.

I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this but here goes. Recently I pre-ordered two Ryomou Shinmei (Griffon) figures from Hobby Fan.

Usually I would order from Toys Logic, but their unpredictable charging methods and my lack of money at the time forced me on to another site. Anywho, Hobby Fan lists the Griffon Ryomou figures as coming out at the end of July. However I recently stumbled upon Play-Asia's page for one of them (the maid figure) and it said it was coming out in May. Which of these sites has the correct date?

Volks most likely would not deal directly with an international customer. Thus, you would need to go through a deputy service (http://www.animeondvd.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=79354). Basically, very few Japanese stores ship internationally or have staff that can deal with non-Japanese speaking customers. Thus, various services exist that act as an intermediary between you and a certain store/Yahoo Auctions. They, of course, charge for it, but sometimes it's the only way to acquire a desired object. The first round for the Volks figure has already closed (http://heiseidemocracy.com/2008/04/29/volks-hatsune-miku-preorder-open/), but the second should have just opened.

On a side note, Toys Logic (http://www.toyslogic.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3875) is still accepting pre-orders for the GSC one.

Speaking of Yahoo Auctions, a quick search turned up one (http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b87330761), two (http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/111900847), & three (http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n65163452). It's already overpriced, and it's not even out (although I think these are garage kit builds).

Volks most likely would not deal directly with an international customer.

Volks has an international site for their Dolls, but they do not sell their anime and mecha related figures and resins internationally. I found this out the hard way a couple of years ago when I attempted to sign up for their website a few years ago to get some Super Robot Taisen models. They would only let the international site visitors order from the dolls section.

Interesting. I did not know they sold dolls internationally.

They are one of the larger international ball-joint doll sellers. They are pretty popular among collectors. There are likely licensing issues with selling the anime related merchandise internationally where as the dolls are mostly Volks original. I'm not sure if that's the case, but international licensing costs stops a number of vendors from selling their figures and merchandise across boarders.

Remember it wasn't that long ago when you had to import 90% of the figures that came out. The 10% that did come to the US were generally the cheaper SRDX / Sega line figures. With a few Yamato things thrown in here and there.

Most likely. They've released a couple collaboration dolls in the US through Volks USA (a few Rozen Maiden ones that were HELLISHLY difficult to obtain even with the US release), but they weren't able to sell those in even limited quantities on their international site.

Anyone know where I can buy the Moyashimon (Tales of Agriculture) Stuffed Collection without resorting to eBay? I really want those little buggers so badly. The yogurt looking plush looks awesome.

The next girl in Kotobukiya's Little Busters! line will be Kurugaya Yuiko (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/97999). In addition, they finally solicited Blanc Neige (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/97998) from Shining Wind. Both figures will be out in September.

Lastly, Shueisha is making sure the flames of To LOVEる do not die out with a nekomimi Sairenji Haruna (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/98001) in September.

Personally, I canceled my pre-orders of the Beat's versions of both Yuiko and Kudryavka when I found out Kotobukiya was doing a Little Busters! line. I've just had an all around better experience with Kotobukiya than Beat. I'd put Kotobukiya fourth--after Max Factory, Good Smile, and Cospa. But each to his or her own.

As a general question.... do many of you own any male pvc's? I only have Shannon from Scrapped Princess (dvd SE)... but was curious since every once in a while I see one that looks pretty kick ass....

Gatts
05-24-2008, 07:47 PM
I own quite a few, but the real problem is that not many are made. People like Archer (Fate) and Shannon (SP) get figures. Also the Dragonball and One Piece Crew. But most other male characters don't get figures. You are more likely to find male figures and statues for American comics and pop culture icons. Things like Batman, Superman, Ironman, Spiderman, etc. Also movie figures like Captain Jack from Pirates of the Caribbean or Neo from the Matrix.

Bishoujo figure makers tend to market to males. So unless the male character is "cool enough for guys" then they won't get a figure made for them. This is one of the reasons you can find many Archer figures, but little to no Shirou figures. For male characters, they are more likely to get an action figure or bust than a regular full size PVC statue. The Jojo's Bizarre Adventure busts by Medicos are an example. Another one is how you can find action figures of Kyon and Itsuki (figma) from Haruhi, but you don't find many standard PVC figures.

There are, of course, exceptions. Giant Robot/Mecha series and Tokusatsu series almost always get male figures made.

But anyway, since I'm getting a bit off from your initial question, I have more than a few. Not including the US comics / Sideshow collectibles (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/) ones I have a number of Berserk statues by Art of War. The Assassin's Creed Altair. Most of the Type Moon male characters that have been released (Lancer, Berserker, etc) and others.

I've got the Togainu no Chi Shiki fig. (The original one.) Also the aforementioned Shannon fig. Debated getting both of the recent TnC figs of Shiki and Akira in the uniforms, but passed 'cause I haven't played the games and have run out of space for figures. (Am still getting Miku though. Hobby Search updates just about every day, but recently added some nice Figma additions:

Izumi Konata (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10072423) which I suspect will probably sell out quickly (there was also another (http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/mac/eng/image/1127/Figma+Konata.html) Konata but that was a Wonder Festival exclusive so it's sold out)

For the Fate fans out there, (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10072425) there's a Figma version of her from StrikerS.

Nice. But the Nanoha PVC goodness I'm anticipating the most or better phrased I *know* I won't be able to restrain (and if I'm not totally wrong it ~has~ been announced to be slated for a 2008 release at the last Wonder Festival...given that we've got pretty much all of his Nanoha kits adapted into PVC figures by Alter so far I certainly hope she'll be next) is Tsumetuka Hiroyuki's Hayate the Meister (http://www.geocities.jp/livedom2006/hayate2.html)

I ordered them. I probably shouldn't have, but they were too cute! I'm so weak. I hope the actual figures are as cute as the illustration, always worried about that. I've tried searching to see if they're mentioned else where but came up with nothing...

I assume another set will come out seeing as Mikuru isn't in this one. I figured Kyon's Sister and Tsuruya would be in it.. but who'd be the fourth? One of the guys? Is there another girl I'm missing? Would they do a duplicate girl, perhaps Haruhi in Bunny Costume?

Excited about these, just wish I could find more on them.

Yes they did (due to the release last year of Little Busters! ^_~). However the character figures that came out where for different charas of the Soft - like Kudo, Yuiko, etc. Judging by the decision of charas Media Works chose on for Dengeki Hime and Dengeki G's Magazine to come along with, they clearly focus on those charas which are slated to take some more spotlight in Little Busters! Ecstasy (Kanata, Sasami and of course the newly introduced and to a lot of Key fans already reason enough to double dip on this Soft...Saya).

That said unfortunately Amazon.jp labels Dengeki Hime as adult material which makes it unable to order for foreign customers >_<

They translate it as being from "Hunting Guerilla Rape." The promo art suggests they are really based on something & whatever that is must have been inspired by Gundam Seed Destiny as they all look like those characters.

Pretty & sexy sculpt if you don't mind hentai figures & as a bonus(or minus since you'd have to get all three) it looks like all three come together to make a lovely scene.

Just some small piece of still noteworthy news regarding the upcoming Media Works Dengeki x Little Busters-EX figure release "wave" (http://www.animeondvd.com/aodvb/showpost.php?p=1331218&postcount=106). Senaka:Otaroad spotted on their (probably slightly NSFW) latest entry (http://www.senakablog.com/archives/2008/06/gshime.html) prototype versions of Kanata (to be released at the end of June with Dengeki Hime 2008/08) and Sasami (same release date just attached to Dengeki G's Magazine). I really like that they chose to do some more...adult poses for the heroines fitting for the nature (or better put rating) of LB-EX itself this time around. And it seems that they surprisingly managed to capture the original designs quite okay this time around...especially Kanata looks nice IMO.

I saw this on Collection DX and thought I would share it:

Fantasies Made Reality
Yamato USA, in association with Yamato Co., Ltd., is exceeding pleased to introduce our very own line of collectibles: the Fantasy Figure Gallery. Our Fantasy Figure Gallery is a unique union of East and West as the leading portrait sculptors of Asia deliver the worlds of legendary fantasy artists from Europe and the Americas as only they are capable. What really excites us about this collection, though, what makes it so truly groundbreaking, is that we are able to make these gallery quality pieces affordable for all. Similar pieces may cost up to $350, but we’re bringing them to you for less than $100.

East-West Dream Team
We are further excited to present an incredible dream team of artists and sculptors assembled from around the world. We are humbled to welcome the talents of legendary fantasy artists Luis Royo, Dorian Cleavenger, Julie Bell, and Boris Vallejo whose works are brought to life by sculptors Shungo Yazawa, Plant-jzero Moekichi, and Heavy Gauge’s Tobe. Imagine no more as your Fantasy Figure Gallery becomes reality with Luis Royo’s Medusa sculpted by Shungo Yazawa, Dorian Cleavenger’s Akira by Plant-jzero Moekichi, and Boris Vallejo’s Monica’s Axe by Heavy Gauge’s Tobe with more to come.

Now this has me excited and worried at the same time. I would LOVE a Luis Royo or Boris Vallejo figure line. But PVC is ugh for those type of figures. I don't care what Yamato says about "advanced mold engineering, PAD printing, painting techniques, and stringent quality control" or what have you. Make the things resin and charge the money for it!

But alas, resin isn't going to sell as much as PVC so they won't be resin. :(

I'll buy them anyway though.

The Nagi is much better than the Maria and Hinagiku however..

I am still surprised at the lack of real character merchandise outside the three girls featured so far. I've seen very little Isumi, Sakuya, Saki, Council-trio, or Ayumu merchandise so far. You'd think that with such popular characters they'd be at least a little set of Gashapons for them, or even a keyring or phone tag each, but nope.

I've promised to buy whatever Ayumu Nishizawa stuff they release, but so far they've not taken me up on my offer. (other than the character CD)

A couple of notable figures were solicited today. Alter is releasing a Hayate (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/99935) from Nanoha in October

I like... the tiny little Rein part is just too adorable for words, and Hayate is good on her own. I'm gonna be very tempted by this one I can tell.

Not a new figure, but I finally got around to ordering the Fate (A's) figure the other day. I've been wanting it for a while, but not got around to it until now.

I just now noticed the price: 10,290円. >_< I have to get it, but damn that's expensive. I do wonder how they will get the book to "float."

There was a teacup (http://www.hlj.com/product/CSP28644) with Isumi, Sayaka, and Nagi on it. Oh, and Tama, but he doesn't count.^^
Then there is Broccoli's microfibre handkerchief/tsundere candy set (http://www.toyslogic.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3575) (Ayumu has one). Most of the smaller items wouldn't make it online anyway. But yeah. Most of it does focus on Hinagiku since she is the most popular character in the manga polls. I don't really mind since I am a Hina-chan fan myself.^^ Maria and Nagi get most of the other love.

So far, it seems that Hinagiku and Maria have generated the most character goods. I am also a bit surprised that Isumi and Sakaya, let alone Nagi, have not led to more. I'm not really that surprised that we haven't seen much from the Council Trio. They are relatively minor characters.

Sorry for what may be considered a double post (http://animeondvd.com/aodvb/showthread.php?p=1350141#post1350141), but I figured this might be the better place to ask than in just the retail forums, since this thread is specifically about ordering figures.

How good is KidNemo on making sure they get pre-order import figures. They are considerably cheaper than RAC or importing, but if they don't fill all the orders, the discount isn't really worth much.

Sorry, if they are really reliable, I don't mean to cast doubt or aspersions on their good name, but I've never ordered from them.

Thanks,

I don't have her preordered, but I will be getting her. There were plenty of Haruka figures available for months after her release. I believe Mitsuki will be the same way. I just won't wait until there's one more left on the entire internet to order her like I did with Haruka.

The manga situation at ADV may not be pleasing to all of the Yotsuba&! lovers out there. However, as far as figures are concerned, the future of Yotsuba&! is looking bright and cheerful with figures from Kaiyodo of Ayase Fuka (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/100593) in a swimsuit and of Ayase Ena (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/100594) hugging a teddy bear or a towel. Kotobukiya is releasing an undressing figure of Haruhi (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/101580) in November. The figure appears to be semi-cast -offable, but not so much in a good way. Also in November, there is Index (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/101582;jsessionid=A08695FC789E430615C0A48474594A33 ) (Toaru Majutsu no Index) and Noemi Itou, who appears to have been caught in the midst of dressing (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/101584;jsessionid=A08695FC789E430615C0A48474594A33 ) (With You -Looking at forever-). In addition, it seems that Kusakabe Yuuki (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/101581) will be the next in Kotobukiya's ToHeart2 maid line. Lastly, a more-safe-for-work-than-the-anime Minamoto Chizuru figure (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/101232) is also being made (still may be NSFW though). Both are slated for October.

This one has been announced for a bit--I've just been lazy. In case you haven't heard yet, Wave is releasing a very cute figure of Osana Najimi in a white bikini (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/101359) in October (Doujin Work).

Kotobukiya's Haruhi is a must buy for me. I could go either way on Wave's Najimi. Certainly, it's cheap enough. But Wave's quality hasn't been spectacular in my experience.

:nosebleed: She will be mine. Especially since the goth loli version keeps on getting pushed back and back and back. I guess the holes are for the castoffableness, but I guess I'll just have to not look at her from behind if she's got them. It's not a deal breaker.

I'm not passing. I will be passing on the goth loli and bikini ones, though. I unfortunately passed on that Max Factory one that got about sixteen runs too many times, and I don't feel like gambling with bootlegs nowadays. So, I'll get this one instead. As unveilled via the cover according to the latest issue of E☆2 (http://www.etsu.jp/newest/) that'll go on sale tomorrow (2008/07/29) the second collaboration project with Miyagawa Takeshi (T's system (http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/tssystem/)) is in the works (with the previous figure project been TONY x Miyagawa Takeshi). And what gets me excited on this project is that it's TINKLE (http://www.ne.jp/asahi/tinker/bell/) that'll be involved!
Of course still too fresh for any drafts or promo images to be found on either the Official E☆2 HP nor Miyagawa's Circle page, but at least that one updated with some lovely unpainted kits (?) which are slated to be part of T's sytem's Wonder Festival participation (Hatsune Miku, Kudo, original PVC figure featuring designs by Misato Mitsumi and more Berry maid goodness ^_^) Btw. according to Miyagawa also a C.C. kit (Code Geass) is planned for Wonder Festival.

Yujin is going to release a 1/8 scale figure of Melty (heroine of Nanase Aoi's Puchi Mon serialized in Shueisha's Ultra Jump (http://ultra.shueisha.co.jp/)).
Two versions will be put out - a Mekke! (Shueisha shopping site) on 300 units limited version that aside of different clothing coloration used, comes along with a Nanase Aoi signed print and a the regular edition. Both priced the same (5,800 Yen incl. tax) and slated for a December (2008/12/20) release, while pre-order deadline for Melty is set on 2008/10/06 (pre-orders accepted starting on 4th August 2008, the Mekke! special of course exclusively up for order at the online shop while the regular ed. will be put up for pre-order at most other hobby shops as well). Moreover according to Nanase Aoi's page Melty is slated to be exhibited at the upcoming WonderFestival 2008 Summer at Yujin's booth. More shots at both versions can be found at her Official site's post on that topic here (http://aoinanase.typepad.jp/seventh_heaven/2008/08/83srdxsrdxmekke.html)

Reports are finally starting to roll in on the actual event itself here (http://wcn.sakura.ne.jp/event/wf2008s/wf08s.html).

As opposed to the escalator accident that seemed to be getting national news headlines. Zepy at Canned Dogs has a good English write up of that here (http://zepy.momotato.com/2008/08/02/10-injured-as-escalator-fails-in-wonderfest/).

EDIT: The Japan Times also has a write up on the incident here (http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20080804a2.html).

Thankfully I don't have a lot... but yeah, certain characters are a must-buy even if I don't really like the way it looks (the Narue figure I've got is a perfect example... though at least it was dirt cheap).

To keep this in perspective... Hey, look! Lucky Star Figures! To Heart 2 AD figures! ^^;

I don't see Hatsune as any more popular with the circles than the other more traditional anime/manga/novel/game trends. Especially when you look at many of the larger photo sets. We'd probably see more if it wasn't so hard for groups to get the one day rights to the character though. (This was a problem last winter I recall.)

RightStuf does carry figures from AAA. If they're not listed, shoot customer service off an email and see if they will post them. That said, RightStuf prices are pretty bad for figures. There are many other domestic options listed here (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showpost.php?p=1263659&postcount=1). I do not know how well they fare for Canadians. Personally, I'm fond of Robert's, Toys Logic (http://www.toyslogic.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=witchblade), and Anime Xing as far as domestics go. Note that Toys Logic imports their figures from Japan and does not get them from AAA.

When They Cry figurines to be had ?

You won't find figures searching under "When They Cry." Instead, try "Higurashi" (http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?MacroType=ComMod&searchpage=top_page&Dis=-2&from=detail&Word=Higurashi). Most are out of print, however Banpresto has a Rena prize figure coming out this fall. You might be able to find some still around at certain stores or at conventions. If you absolutely must have a certain one, try Yahoo Auctions Japan. I have the Mega House Rena and it's a decent figure, if not anything to write home about. Higurashi, oddly enough, has not gotten a lot of professional figures.

Wave's 1/10 Treasure Figure Collection Mikuru Asahina Bunny Girl Ver. is out of print. BeNippon (http://benippon.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=10474&currency=USD&language=en) has one in stock though, if slightly higher than retail.

The reason why I'm skipping this particular Dream Tech figure is because the pose is a bit too much like the old Max Factory Karen/Miina (http://www.hlj.com/product/MAX04010) figure only with white undies instead of yellow and green (oh and kneeling).

When I compare most of the Wave figures to other similar released figures I normally take the alternate. For example the Taiga Aisaka figure (http://www.hlj.com/product/WAVNF-63) doesn't look quite as good as the one being put out by Max Factory (http://www.hlj.com/product/MAX04088) (both based on the same illustration).

I'm tempted to pick up Xtecy (http://www.hlj.com/product/WAVDT-41) and I've picked up a few of their Treasure Figure Collection 1/10 and 1/12 scale figures, but I normally take a wait and see if another company will release a similar figure attitude.

I hope this is the correct thread to ask this question:

Are there any sites that are good for tracking down older, no longer 'in print' figures? I'm trying to track down the Anemone Eureka Seven PVC from about 3 years ago and I'm having a heck of a time. Obviously I've been checking Ebay, but I've had no luck there.

Any other suggestions? Not sure if there is any kind of great site I'm totally unaware of. Even a 'used' version would be fine as long as its in good shape of course.

Thanks very much!

It's really hard to track a popular figure, and since Ebay is always the first option, and you got nothing, then you can try:

JPQueen.- They rarely sell figures since thy focus more on manga and doujinshi

Yahoo! Japan Auction.- For this one, you need a proxy bidder (someone who does all the work for you, for a price of course), since most of the sellers don't ship overseas.

This two are the ones I can remember at this time, someone on this forum will be willing to help you.

My advice is to wait for someone to put the figure(s) you want on eBay. From experience, I have been lucky with some really old figures I always wanted to have and I could get from there.

Alright, I'll just continue to be patient with Ebay. Thanks very much!

I'm trying to track down the Anemone Eureka Seven PVC from about 3 years ago and I'm having a heck of a time.

beNippon (http://benippon.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=10452) has a used copy. You will, however, pay for it. A quick search of Yahoo Auctions Japan did not generate any hits for it. Conventions can also be a good place to pick up out-of-print figures, as long as you keep an eye out for bootlegs. The same can be said for eBay, as another poster mentioned.

Thanks! I actually just found that shortly before seeing your reply. Yeah, a bit pricey for my tastes, but if I had no other choice I may go with it.

Is there any kind of reference that I can look at to easily identify bootlegs? Any wiki page on it or anything? How common is it in the statue industry?

Soooo. I'm hoping someone here has heard of anything about this. :catgirl:

While browsing on Square-Enix's US online store (http://www.square-enix-shop.com/usa/index.cfm), I saw that there is going to be a Kingdom Hearts Formation Arts Vol. 03. It's on their flash banner in the upcoming section. (Though you can see all six at their flash banner on the Japanese online store (http://www.square-enix-shop.com/jp/index.cfm?site_id=1).)

I have the first two sets, so I'm very excited to see that they're going to continue the series.

Goodness knows I'm not a big fan of Donut Grade, but that Eclair's face looks pretty off model.

It's been confirmed (http://www.kaiyodo.co.jp/wf/) that the Feb. 2009 Winter Wonderfestival has been canceled. Reasoning seems to be from the ongoing investigation into the escalator accident that occurred during last summers event.

Zepy at canned dogs has a post up about this as well. (link (http://zepy.momotato.com/2008/10/10/wonder-festival-2009-winter-cancelled/))

Quite depressing. Hopefully things will get squared away in time for the 2009 summer event.

So the escalator hasn't been fixed yet? Or are they saying something about wonder festival makes the escalators more dangerous?

This seems like a over-reaction to me.

Umm, I hope this hasn't been posted before.

Dennou Figure Arisu
A virtual figure. A "world first" :P
You need a computer and webcam. Place the special computer cube in front of your webcam and the figure will appear on the screen. Use the computer stick to prod the virtual figure, change clothing, give gifts etc.

OK, I've gotta admit that technology-wise that's pretty cool... but also very, very strange. I think I'll stick with non-virtual figures, personally...

If they don't know the exact cause of the issue, then it's safer to avoid it happening again. There's a lot of people going to these events. Lots of weight and stress on the escalators which run for the entire event. It sucks for most of the figure industry since Wonder Festival is a big money event for most figure makers, but safety has to come first.

No doubt about that - safety has to come first for every event host and organizer. And I guess such a move shows that it's up to a huge part for the organizer wether or not to make such a decision - especially due to the fact that Comiket74 (gladly!) was held a mere few weeks past the escalator incident left alone a similar cancelation of upcoming events held at Big Sight (i.e. C75) is not (yet) announced. Nevertheless it's a pity the organizers of WF (Kaiyodo if I'm not wrong) cancelled the Winter ed. altogether though...I mean apparently it worked without that escalator for C74 and other events which don't attract less of a crowd.
And while admitted I have no clue how property management in Japan works or is supposed to, it still puzzles me that despite the incident having occurded in early August this year, they didn't manage to fix the problem in the meantime (I'm inclined to believe such a problem wouldn't restrict itself to events held at Big Sight rather then the daily tourists visiting the sight as well?)

Perhaps it's a cultural thing. Since the accident occurred at Wonder Festival, the organisers of that particular event cancel one as a sign of their remorse etc. Sort of like when a celebrity gets in trouble: they apologise publicly, TV sponsors etc pull contracts with them, then after what's considered a reasonable period on the outer, they're back in everyone's good books and re-establish contracts.

Since it didn't occur at Comiket, they don't feel a need to go to such lengths.

left alone a similar cancelation of upcoming events held at Big Sight (i.e. C75) is not (yet) announced.

Aren't the dates for C75 already fixed? 28 to 30 December. I doubt they'd cancel it after having already solicited for the catalogues etc.

From what I remember, they had a number of sections closed during C74 and people were complaining about worse crowds than usual. Also, as mentioned by Natsume_Maya, the C75 date was set back before C74 even occurred.

Seems to be likely. Reading through the various reportings on WF 2005 Winter cancelation it appears as if most of them make mention of that the escalator incident and the circumstances that led to it has not been fully *investigated* yet...which makes one wonder wether the escalator in question itself has been repaired yet though.

Also with the mention of saftey comes first, I think it also should be noted that the orginazers of Comiket didn't totally ignore the accident as well. In fact soon past the escalator WF incident they put up an information page (http://www.comiket.co.jp/info-a/C74/C74Oshirase.html) within which the escalator is given some focus through a paragraph as well. As far as I followed news in these regards the majority of artists/Circles that attended C74 in summer also linked to this information page and some Circles even called to their fans to keep the event guidelines (such as the "no running" one) in mind when visiting Big Sight for C74.
So it's not like the escalator accident didn't leave some influence on Comiket74 or as if the organizers ignored that altogether - in fact I do consider such actions like as done by them also with the help of artist/Circles to spread such news/information to be the utmost best way to set preventive actions for more trouble to occur while still holding up event schedules as well.

Which is what I doubt as well - mainly due to the catalogue pre-orders set (and well the date has been announced as usual back during the last event - C74 - was held). But stranger things did happen which is why I said a Comiket cancelation (god beware ^_~) has not (yet) been announced. I'd assume in case the escalator would still not run 'till late December (or even *if*) that the organizer of Comiket most likely puts up another information page as the one for C74
