What show has the best clothes? Is it Cardcaptor Sakura with the great outfits Tomoyo always makes for Sakura? How about the simple but varied outfits worn by everyone in Azumanga Daioh? Then there are the fabulous late 18th century outfits of Le Chevalier d'Eon. How about the designer clothes of Gankutsuou? George's outrageous designs in Paradise Kiss? What do you like?

I love the outfits that Sakura wears in Cardcaptor Sakura, and I have to give a nod to Paradise Kiss that has stunning outfits, but right at this very second my heart is telling me to say Shugo Chara. I actually wrote a blog several months back about the fashion in one specific episode, so if you want some examples, feel free to check them out (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/blog.php?b=472). :)

I've always been fond of Range Murata's sorta Neo-1930's, Eastern Europeanesque designs in Last Exile. :)

I do enjoy how the characters in R.O.D the TV wear different clothes (sometimes several different outfits) in each episode.

Can probably add another 7-10 costumes for her throughout the series....
Nana and Paradise Kiss both have great clothes
I'm sorry, the only correct answer here is Super GALS! :P

One Piece. Each arc, Oda often changes the character's clothing, really giving it a sense of time-passing, not to mention realism (you'd think other shonen characters would eventually think, "man, this shirt's really torn up, time for a new look!"). Also, Sogeking outfit = pure win.

As far as having cool/interesting fashions throughout the entire series:
Trinity Blood probably has my favorite wardrobe. Others include...
Simoun
Fushigi Yugi
Princess Princess
Le Chevalier D'Eon
Emma
009-1
Gankutsuou is a love/hate thing... I love the concept, but in practice, the designs got on my nerves after a while.

Some series that I saw/currently watching that have the best clothes:
- Gankutsuou for the sheer uniqueness of the designs.
- Paradise kiss, but that's a given since the series revolves around a fledging fashion designer company.
- Practically every Peach-Pit series, with heavy emphasis towards Shugo Chara and Rozen Maiden (to be more specific in terms of RM, the clothing designs of the dolls).
- The Undines' uniforms in ARIA are very elegent.

Dirty Pair. Really, just about any futuristic science fiction series from the late 80s, early 90s. :P
This question could be approached in a dozen ways. For cuteness and variety of styles it's hard to beat Ichigo Mashimaro.

Oh, what am I saying? Obviously the answer is Daphne in the Brilliant Blue.

Do the Hardsuits from Bubblegum Crisis count? ;)
I was ganna say that :P .
Here are soem other shows with good clothing, that I liked, and where kind of "different".
Red Garden - Intune with what Americans wear, yet still manages to have some amazingly cool clothing. Some odd stuff here and there, but I like that. Also they change their clothing quite often. I remember an epispde where Kate wore like 3 different things. Some male clothing could have been a little better though. But I'll forgive that.
Eureka Seven - There are some really cool clothing here that I like. There's everything and anything you could think of. Plus I just love the U.F. Forces Uniforms (the black ones).
Speed Grapher - Just overall I liked the clothing. So many different styles, so different person to person. Not breathtaking or anything. Just cool.

Especially with Miu's endless supply of outfits. But even she was humbled by Ana's walk-in closet... room.
Miho Shinohara from Fancy Lala has it the best though... she can just draw whatever she wants to wear.

Super GALS! floored me with the number of (brightly colored) costume (and hairstyle) changes. I bet the key animators hated that show.
I also remember noticing all the different outfits in Marmalade Boy back in my early f'nsub days.

Clearly, the best dressed characters in anime are the members of Genshiken.
What?

SMaxon, your avatar reminds me of a series with some of the most bizarre clothes... Magical Play.
Sure there's Uokichi... but Kyal and Lyka. That Myumyu is one daring girl to go around wearing nothing but those two cats. :knowitall:

For 1980s, Kimagure Orange Road. Madoka had a very fashionable pricey wardrobe, & Hikaru dressed fairly trendily, although more cheaply.
For the best KOR fashion parade, the best episodes are those where the kids went to dances, discos & concerts. For pure modelling, the last OVAs with Tokimeki Blue ed song has still art of Madoka & Hikaru in different apparel which is uncredited but looks from poses & the way the girls' faces/expressions are drawn, like its by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the Gundam:The Origin manga artist-writer.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Oh My Goddess yet. There are a lot of very interesting costume designs in the various anime outings especially those related to the goddess/demon world. There are certainly lots of buckles for example. Beldandy also wears some nice outfits in the human world. I especially like the parts where she takes a parasol along almost like a Victorian lady.
