Been one of the most influential creators in the anime/manga field for over 40 years and not really appreciated in the US like Miyazaki, Oshii and Anno, here's an interview (http://www.fantasy.fr/interviews/view/175/go-nagain-mecha-s-master?reload=true) with Grand Master Go Nagai, creator of Cutey Honey, Kekko Kamen, Shameless School, and the father of the Super Robot genre Mazinger Z and other classic Super Robots like Great Mazinger, Kotetsu Jeeg, Gloizer X and Getter Robo. Enjoy

And Do I love him soo much because Mazinger Z was my 1st Anime?.... HELL, YES!!!!!

Interview posted in english by Fantasy.fr thru ANN

Short yet nice interview :) Since he mentioned that he holds UFO Robo Grendizer in high regards means that there is a chance for a remake or the long waited promised sequel to the Mazinger Trilogy. Sadly, the interviewer did not ask him (or rather remind him) about his promise for the Trilogy's sequel or the upcoming Z Mazinger. I wonder when will the latter be coming out ?

Good interview. Fans of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, NGE etc. up through Gurren Legann owe a debt of gratitude to Go Nagai for starting the whole mecha genre as we know it today. I don't own any of his mecha shows (I have seen Getter Robo Armageddon & Mazinkaiser) but I do have Devilman OVA, New Cutey Honey (The live-action movie too), Kekko Kamen, & The Devil Lady-All of which I've enjoyed. I'll try to check out more of his mecha shows to see what else he has to offer. :)

With Go Nagi dead? I'd say never.

Last I checked... He's still alive and kicking.

Think about it for a second: How can the French have an interview with Go Nagai if he's been dead?

I think you got Nagai confused with his protegé Ken Ishikawa, who has died.

Maybe he was referring to Getter Robo which Go Nagai Co-created with Ken Ishikawa ?

But still ! having Go Nagai there is good enough for another Getter Robo anime in the future. a Mazinkaizer & Shin Getter Robo team anime (similar to the Super Robo Army movie in the 70s) would be excellent !!! :catgirl:

That would rock soo much!!!!! :nosebleed:, let's add Kotetsu Shin Jeeg just to make it complete.

Something like this always brings me to a Go Nagai Fueled Super Robot JoyGasm! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIc3kyPi_K4)

"The inspiration for my works comes from images that all of a sudden appear inside my head."

Ha! I knew it! The guy writes straight from his id!

Somehow I had heard he was dead as well. Nice to know he isn't, and that he enjoyed the wonderful, insane, live action Cutey Honey series.

In particular, I am very satisfied with “Cutie Honey - The Live”, because I think the main star [Miss Mikie Hara] fits extremely well into the role of Cutie Honey, so I really enjoyed it.

...That makes me cry. Not only was the Live *shit*, but Mikie Hara played Honey like a complete idiot. Sure she had the look down, but not the personality. Honey's smart, tough, and charming. She's not air-headed, bubbly, and a crybaby. That's Sailor Moon.
