This cover art just looks very dull. Could a better artwork be used? I have the original collections with soundtracks, so I will be passing up this.

Subdued, but still nice.
I've been interested in this show, so I'll probably get this.

Now that is a good cover. I like the darkness/space and how the girl in the middle sticks out of it. Very nice and slick looking.
Buying this. Keep them cheap ADV, pretty please. I'd like to have some pocket change when these re-releases come out.

Gotta say I'm liking this too. Of the 3 episodes I saw of this, I couldn't really get into it, but with more viewing I have a feeling it would grow on me. I'd like to get both collections for my DVD collection at one point and marathon them.

Yeah I only saw a few episodes on VOD a few years back and didn't get into it then. It didn't hold me for long enough...Hoping when I marathon these, I'll enjoy it too. I think I will. Anno and Gainax are the bomb.

If you count out some terrible "island-episodes" (which pretty much where fillers cause the show was doing good) this is an absolutely great series but as been stated it takes a while to get into.

I'm liking that cover. Nothing too awesome but still pretty good. Background's pretty dull though. I guess having never seen it probably helps me enjoy the cover more...
I've been wanting to get it for a while though. Guess i just hoped for a nice box of it all to appear in front of me so i can buy and love.
I'll probably get this one it seems. I'm really dissapointed to see it'll be a brick though. A Thinpak would have totally convinced me right away.
As there ever been a real box for it (other than the bland tin)?

Nope, not to my knowledge. Not by ADV anyways.

Sadly, no. There was the 10 original singles, the alphabricks (2 "fatter" bricks that included 3 soundtrack cds), the tin (with the thipaked singles) and now this. It would have been nice if this would have been like the recent Southern Cross/Mospeada collection.

A brick collection is more likely than a thinpak (by looking at the black border, the dimensions (though it may very well be distorted), and the disc counts).

Ah ok. I had no idea how many disks this has. Interesting...but as long as the DVD's work, and this looks nice, doesn't really matter to me. Oh and the price has to be right. Please keep this cheap ADV  .

That's what i feared. I didn't know about those alphabricks though. Still a brick...

That's what i was really hoping for. I guess SC/M only got lucky to get a thinpak because of the Macross one which was getting it's first complete collection.

I'm still kicking myself for missing out on last year's tin set.
I won't let this show slip through my fingers for a fourth time.

Nadia, Secret of the Blue Water (TV): Complete Collection 1 (Re-release) due out on 11/11/2008.
This cover just re-uses the art from volume 10 --Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water: V.10 Prophecy Fulfilled (www.amazon.ca/dp/B000068M9Z)

I'm surprised they are re-releasing this series again. It's a good series overall and early-ish Anno and Gainex, but its pretty old in American anime audience terms. I ended up picking up the single on the cheap after having to sell the old bricks due to some expenses a few years ago, so I don't need this release edition. I wonder if ADV is just going to come out with an annual Holiday re-milking set re-release for this and their other bigger series as long as they still have the licenses.

And I'm not buying Nadia until a full series set is released. My VHS will do.

I don't like this much either. Spine's decent, but ehh...looks like the bricks fared a bit better in looks. I own the singles.

It was. The tin contained the full series (minus the movie, but you don't want that any way).

That cover is a strange choice for the first half of the series. One of the people it shows doesn't even show up until the last few episodes of the series.

It seems awfully dark for a series that seems awfully light. Color wise anyways. Granted I haven't seen much of it but still. I really want to purchase these sets but these cover's just are NOT doin it for me. :depressed:

Gainax learned an important lesson when they allowed that monstrosity be made. One thankfully they've never repeated. And all I have to say about it is
"FUDGEY!"

Actually, Gainax didn't make the movie at all; the only involvement they had with it was the 30 or 20-something minutes of (badly edited and poorly sequenced) footage from the show. Everything else was done by some other animation company with production values and storytelling on par with those absolutely HIDEOUS filler episodes in the second half (which are thankfully not included on the first collection)--although personally I didn't find the movie as bad as the Africa episodes (32, 33) or Episode 26--those episodes were the worst offenders IMO.

Which is why I said "allowed to be made," and this movie makes the filler episodes look like shakespear. Say what you will about the Africa episodes, but at least they had Grandis.

Actually forget these characters they needed Jean, Grandis Marie, Sanson Hanson and King on there.
And I guess it's okay to keep Nadia on there.

Too bad her personality was bastardized so badly on those episodes though, and especially Nadia herself--which was what made those episodes so intolerable IMO.

Yeh ADV screwed up the covers. This should have been the cover on collection 2, and collection 2 cover should be the cover for this one. Still it looks really nice. I'm enjoying this TV series a LOT so far. I have 3 episodes left to go in this collection.

Definitely agreed about the cover art. Somebody at ADV must've been trying to get this done in a hurry.
I'm happy to hear you're enjoying this series, Prede; it's one of my favorites--the first collection in particular is quite impressive, especially the opening eight episodes, eps. 14-19 (the Atlantis one in particular is moving, and the Antarctica adventure is a lot of fun). The dub also deserves kudos, too; Monster Island is sorely missed, and this is one of their finest efforts. Casting kids to play the leads was a smart decision.
Too bad Collection 2's content doesn't match up to this first one in terms of quality (only about eight episodes of excellence--21, 22, 31, 35-39 and about eleven episodes and a movie that Gainax never had in mind for their original outline of the show).
...since this got bumped, here is the backcover.
