View Full Version : Can Someone Please Explain X TV Ending?

I just finished watching X 1999 TV and although I am satisfied with it I have no idea how it came to be! SPOILERS obviously follow: By Kamui dying how did Fuma revert back to normal? Also, why didn't the world end? All I got out of it was that Kamui wished that Fuma would turn back to normal so Fuma had to honor his wish? As you can see I'm very deprived of some sort of explanation so any help will do.

It's a very shoujo CLAMP-ish ending. In other words, it's not the ending one might 'expect' from an apocalyptic series. X was about people's feelings towards each other more than stopping the end of the world.
And right now I really wish that I could remember that last episode in detail to explain how I interpreted it, but since I can't remember, I am at a loss... Just that when Kamui died, that 'force' or barrier that came from him at that moment was the expression of his feelings for Fuma and was part of fulfilling his wish, as you said.
That's about all I can say with any confidence since I forget the details of that episode... :relief: I'm sure that someone else will be along soon enough with a little more helpful answer. :sd:

Basically, Kamui was the only Dragon of Heaven who could not form a barrier. In the end of the anime, as Fuma kills him, he unleashes his power and forms a barrier which restores everything. Since the Dragons of Earth have lost, Fuma essentially returned to normal. Although I imagine with an immense amount of guilt.
Throughout the anime, it was often stated that Kamui would loose the final battle and die. But despite this, he was able to save the world as we know it, even though he had to sacrifice his life to do so. Apparently, this was the only way Kamui could form a barrier.
At least, that's what I took everything to mean. I understand how you could be confused. Sadly since the final chapters of the manga were never published, we'll never know how CLAMP wanted it to end. So we only have the TV series and (god-awful) movie to go by.
