It seems like nowadays, any anime that comes out will soon be followed by a ton of doujinshi. I have noticed that the ones that seem to have the most doujinshi are those that usually have any of the following:
(1) Bishoujo - especially harem anime
(2) Bishounen - especially if there are hardly any females in the cast and the bishounen spend a lot of time either being "friendly" with each other or act angsty around each other.
(3) Mecha
(4) Lolis

I've noticed that serious seinen anime almost never seems to have any doujinshi. For example, Monster and Daughter of 20 faces do not seem to have any doujinshi in existance despite the somewhat attractive character designs and the cult following they have. Then sometimes we have shows that should have doujinshi because they do follow have one of the criteria above and yet strangely have none. For example, I've yet to see a single Mission-E doujinshi.

Is there any anime that you've wondered why there is no doujinshi? Also, if anyone wants to disprove anyone else on this thread by pointing that doujinshi do exist for a certain anime, please feel free to do so.

Well, 20 Faces is A) Recent and B) Not very popular, so yeah, I'm sure there's a doujin SOMEWHERE for it (maybe not porn though) but it probably hasn't been scanned because, well, 99% of the people don't give a damn about it.

Also, remember that the vast majority of Doujin never get scanned, and thus no one who doesn't own the thing themselves will ever see it.

Uh, no. Sure, some franchises, such as Leaf or Type-Moon, get more doujinshi than others. But doujinshi comes out for just about anything. Which isn't to say that you'll find it online. For the record, DoujinDB--a database of doujinshi--records two (http://doujinshi.mugimugi.org/parody/1044/MONSTER/) (NSFW) for Monster (DoujinDB does not link to any illegal downloads and discourages the practice). Keep in mind DoujinDB has a minuscule amount of what is produced (mostly just the popular stuff).

I didn't see you made the same point I did. I have some myself you won't find online. I would think most doujinshi collectors do.

As someone who reguarly hunts doujin, you'd be surprised with the amount of series that seemingly have no doujin for them. Witch Hunter Robin has around one yet Planetes has five or so. It depends on the circle really, look at something like Black Lagoon. Azasuke Wind is a huge Black Lagoon fan, so he draws Black Lagoon.

Although Fence and Draneor make a good point in that if you browse sites like Plecomi or Mandarake you'll find stuff that will never see the light of day unless you personally buy it. If only doujin were more accesible for those outside of Japan.

I am also a frequent collector, and have come across my share of series that seem like they SHOULD have a decent amount of doujinshi, but have so few, or none, that they can be very difficult to find (at least online and outside Japan). For example, I have only ever seen one (maybe two) doujinshi for a super popular show called Kirarin Revolution. Yes, it's for kids, but other kids shows have received decent doujinshi followings in the past (like Akazukin Cha Cha and Digimon). I guess, like mentioned, it depends on how many dedicated circles you have. There could only be two people, but if they loved it enough you could get three or four works from each in a year, and that adds up.
