Surprised no one has posted anything about any of the Funimation box set releases of former ADV titles.

Typical Funimation style six episodes are on each disc with 2 discs per set. The first disc of each set contains the clean opening & closing. The second disc of each set contains previews for other Funimation titles and the DVD Credits.

Now these sets contain the ADV "FBI Warning" screen instead of the one typically found on Funimation titles.

Just like with the single releases of Kanon & Devil May Cry, each episode has its own title similar to other ADV releases. Normally Funimation puts all the episodes of a disc on one long title.

Video & Audio, I have only watched a few minutes of episode one and to be quite honest the video looks like an ADV release and the sound is what I have come to expect from an ADV release. I haven't noticed a side affect from Funimation cramming six episodes to a disc yet.

Credit wise, ADV is still credited the same way via the end credits of each episode just like the single volumes, also Funimation credits ADV Films for the English version on the back of the box set with the other credits. Funimaiton also credits the ADV staff as well. Similar to the way they were credited on Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid.

Also the DVD Credits still have DVD Production as Amusement Park Media, you would think they would have changed that for the set release.

I will post more when I have time to watch, I must say that the Pumpkin Scissors sets look better video wise and sound better than some of the other Funimaton crammed sets I have seen.

I'm not too surprised there. You can actually get away and put 8 episodes on a duel-layered disc and still manage to keep the same quality. It's really up the encoders though and how much space they use on each episode. The average is roughly 1GB per episode and a duel-layered disc contains 8.9GB.

I know but I have seen on some collections where there six episodes there is a slight loss in quality not much but slight. It seems Amusement Park Media encoded the disc instead of Funimation. Also Pumpkin Scissors didn't have a lot of extras either just the clean opening & closing. Unlike some shows which will have extras plus having six to seven shows on a disc.

That's probably the reason they look better right there. :)

I'll believe that when I see it ! What kind of TV and dvd player was used OP ?
You didnt say... I watch my anime on a large screen (46" 1080p) and sit fairly close.

Well you may notice flaws I didn't lol. I have a standard 32" TV and a Philips Progressive-Scan Multiformat DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW Recorder. Typically with this setup I am able to notice flaws when video has been compressed to fit on a disc. I plan on upgrading my setup in the near future though.

I will note the setup in the future, I promise.

For the record I only need the second box myself. Stopped buying after the Sojitz fallout. I have volumes 1-3.

I was planning on getting this show in box set form when it came out, orginally I thought it would be in a complete box instead of two half sets but it works.

At the time ADV started to release this in volumes, I wanted to watch it but I wasn't sure if I would like it. Also I didn't want to start buying the show then stop after a volume or two if I didn't like it. I have to finish out a show once I start buying it or it bugs me to no end lol.

I had the first volumes and the box, but in a fit of rage over ADV's problems, I chucked them.
