In Summary:
Overall, My Santa was better than I anticipated. The first episode was surprisingly good; the humor worked well, and the relationship built between Mai and Santa had plenty of charm. The unneeded second episode ruined that effect. While not bad, it was certainly unnecessary. Still, as a romantic comedy, there is quite a bit to like here, and fans of Ken Akamatsu’s previous work should certainly enjoy this one. If you like wacky comedy, a bit of romance, and plenty of fanservice, this might be a good holiday title to check out. Mildly recommended.

Is this story set in the Negima (or Love Hina) universe?

Neither, it's in its own continuity

No, None at all from what I've seen. I would go as far to say that they could even be the same pressing . . . .
Man what a horrible show! The only reason I bought it was because of the recall. Greed is not always a good thing!

Oh come on, the first episode was actually halfway decent. And anything with Aya Hirano can't be complete garbage. (Though I'm not quite sure it was worth the $8 or $9 I spent for it.)

like the summary said, 1st ep was nice, 2nd one not so much. it would've been better to have a longer 1st ep.

I'm sure it wasn't. Granted, it's Akamatsu, so I'm not expecting Masterpiece Theatre or anything like that, but still. I'm not so concerned about the $10 I paid for it as I am the loss of an hour of my life.… And if I were Aya Hirano, I'd make sure to delete this shit from my résumé.

Disagree! My Santa is an example of why all Akamatsu anime needs nipples.

Does this show have yuri overtones or is this just another case of obnoxious deception on the cover art? I swear if there was as much yuri romance centered shows as the cover art suggested I would like anime a a lot more than I do.

No, I don't remember any yuri overtones in it really

Do they hold hands in the show, because what's the point of the cover then? XD Reading the description sounds like another show about a male nerd getting hot girls from space (north pole?) falling into his lap. The fact that said nerd doesn't even appear on the cover speaks volumes I think. *blows stuff up*

Seeing this with the dub certainly improved my opinion of it.

It's hard to say much as I don't want to give any spoilers but there is no "yuri" relationship between the characters holding hands on the cover.

However if this show had yuri, it would certainly be much better.....;

I think a major problem with this is that so much of it has been done before and this one doesn't really try hard enough to differentiate itself. Maybe I would think better of it if I've seen this without having seen others shows with the same ideas.
Was there really a recall on the previous edition? I remember that my copy had an insert describing things that weren't even announced last year. It seems they were still making them and they didn't bother to fix the age rating on the outer sleeve, the supposed reason for supposed recall.

The cover said it was TVPG when it was supposed to be TVMA and probably belongs as far away from your TV (whether PG or MA) as possible. They did say they were recalling it, but I don't know if anybody actually complied with the recall order. And then they took it out of print after the holidays, but there were so many left over that it came up as a Weekly Special at least once a month.

That doesn't explain why a Summer 08 ad insert was in my copy rather than a Fall or Winter 07 insert.

We're pretty sure you would know... I have yet to buy this and probably never will. I've heard so many bad things about it that I just decided to put the money that might go for this into other series.
