View Full Version : Kind characters, with a mean streak.

Complex characters are one of the aspects of anime that makes the genre so rich for me. I especially like basically kind characters, who have a mean streak at times.
Madoka Ayukawa (KOR), Rei Hino (Sailor Moon), Skuld (AMG), Toji (Evangelion), Haruka (My Hime), Haruhi, perhaps, are some examples.
Do you have any additions & favourites?

Only one that jumps to mind is Cha-cha. Do not get her drunk...

People often peg Kaname as tsundere or even go as far as to call her a bitch, but I think she applies as a 'kind person with a mean streak'. Much of her aggressiveness stems from growing up in New York, a defense mechanism she put up to protect herself from the people who picked on her in junior high, and the fact that she has to put up with Sousuke's antics on a day-to-day basis. That'd drive anyone to violence if you ask me ;). In normal situations she's a very sweet girl, always eager to help people that need it and sticks up for others. Not to mention her soft-spot for a certain mercenary...
