Does anyone have cels from shows which show the "true" colours come across differently to those from their anime?

Back when Kimagure Orange Road TV had its R2J DVD release, I remember a discussion about what the colour of Madoka's eyes should be. The re-mastered R2s had her eyes aqua (greeny-blue), Animeigo's (LDs) had her eyes green. Animeigo was deemed to have goofed in colour mastering.

However I have enough KOR TV cels of Madoka to see that the painted eye colour was green & not aqua, making Animeigo's colour of grass-green seem correct. (Madoka's OVAs & movie eyes are aqua though).

Perhaps, for the re-mastering, Madoka's eyes were re-coloured to aqua for consistency the whole way through *shrugs*.

I don't have, & have not studied enough cels & other shows to do such a scrutinising comparison. So I'm interested if anyone has cels from shows where the "true" colours, & the colours that come across are different.

I just recently started buying cels myself. The two GITS cel I have do look a tiny bit different color wise to the movie, but who knows what that could mean? Could be the cels are fading.

Might be the tv is not quite completely dialed in,and calibrated 100% ? Could have been something Manga Ent did when working on it.The few other cels I own,Cutie Honey,Kekko Kamen,GTO,Sailer Moon,Vampire Hunter D BL,havent looked into to,and dont know that I will,as well I dont own the GTO,or SM
anime.

Part of the fun of owning cels for me, is watching a show & finding the frame/minute/second that the cel I own is used (then I note it down).

With KOR, Hyper Police & Rurouni Kenshin TV so far, I've pinpointed where my cels are used. Seeing an image & knowing you own a unique part of that show is a great feeling.

Sure.I can understand that point of view.I bought them because I wanted to own a original piece of art that was used to make the show.None of them were
bought with investments in mind, just appreciation of the artwork. How do you store yours?

In a coolish dark room now. I made a mistake of displaying a gorgeous Natsuki (Hyper Police) cel as a painting, framed, & it faded very quickly once enough sunlight had worked on it.
