What truly awful news.

So, now it's official.
Well, I can hope for the best. If any anime was made for a live action adaptation, it was Bebop. I just hope the presence of Keanu doesn't completely ruin it.

The casting of Keanu as Spike is a tragedy. I just hope the rest of the casting is not this bad.

Keanu's not the worst choice. We could've been stuck with that guy from Twilight. I'm just concerned with the production values.

Aw, I'm going to be optimistic about Keanu. In the right role, he can be fun. He can do brooding loner type, it's the humor of Spike that might need a little work. I don't think he's the worst choice out there, and might pleasantly surprise us even.
I'm more worried about Fox being involved than Keanu. After all, what kind of taste can we expect from the guys that cancelled Firefly after only a couple of episodes...?

Fox looks at $$$ and nothing more, it profit doesn't look possible, Fox tends to toss it to the wayside.

And it's worth keeping in mind that the Fox TV network doesn't operate the same as their movie unit.

Many companies operate this way. Back when I was heavily reading comics Marvel was doing so at a fairly decent pace as well.

I am actually looking forward to it. I hold out hope that it will be a good movie and don't really have a problem with Keanu at all in the Spike role. If nothing else, maybe it will lead to increased dvd sales for Bandai so they can license more stuff.
