I have seen several Gundam series, but I find them hard to fallow because I'm not sure about the timeline of each series. What I would like to do is watch them all back to back. Why, because I want to view it all historically.

So here is my challange, to anyone kind enough to sort it out for me,:

Gundam: 08th Ms Team
Gundam: 08th Ms Team: The Movie
Gundam Wing
Endless Waltz
Gundam 0080: War In The Pocket
Gundam 0083: Star Dust Memories
Moble Suit Gundam SEED
Gundam SEED Destiny
Gundam Movie II
Char's Counter Attack
Gundam Movie III
Mobile Suit Gundam
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
SD Gundam Force
SD Gundam Force: All New Adventures
Gundam Mobile Suit: Movie I
Mobile Suit Gundam: F91
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED the Movie 1 - 3
Mobile Fighter: G Gundam

Thats my list of the ones I know about, if there are more please add them to the list. Just for fun, I put the ones I've seen in bold.

I'm not in a position at the moment to get it all sorted out, but if no one does it first, I'll do it later tonight.

well, let's see here...

UC timeline:

MS Gundam Igloo -- shiny stuff. less suck.
MS Gundam 0079 -- start of Suck.
MS Gundam 0079 Movie-Trilogy -- Suck get movie-versions.
MS Gundam Z -- sequel, with lot less Suck and more mecha varieties.
MS Gundam ZZ -- Suck 2.0.
MS Gundam 8th MS Team -- less Suck! However, Suck re-injected after Shuddering Mountain episodes, by Tomino meddling.
MS Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket -- Finally an actually awesome Gundam show with no Suck whatsoever!
MS Gundam 0083 -- less Suck, but more badass mecha. GP01FB FTW!!!
Char's CounterAttack -- Suck re-manifest itself fully, except for Sazabi.
MS Gundam F91 -- Suck 3.0.
MS Gundam Victory -- Not so sucky.
G-Saviour -- Suck 4.0. Live-action.
AU "timeline" (aka release-sequence):

G - Gundam -- hot-blooded outrageous giant robot show, but not as sucky since it's kinda funny, anyway. aka DBZ Gundam.
Gundam Wing -- Start of gay. Still pretty good and not so sucky.
Gundam X -- *sigh*. if not for the dolphins, it would not suck as much. not quite gay or even good as Wing.
Gundam Turn A -- Gundam with a wtf Zaku face. Not gay.
Gundam Seed -- gay 2.0
Gundam Seed Destiny -- gay 2.5
Gundam 00 -- Gundam metrosexual 1.0.
SuperDeformed Gundam:
SD Gundam series (Mk I - V and SD CounterAttack) -- funny and full of Win
Superior Defender Gundam Force (SD Gundam Force) -- funny, totally kiddy and sucky.:P:beat:

So by timeline, you mean the order they came out? Is that because you want to see them all, or just because you can't figure out how they connect to each other? If its just confusion about how they connect, that's easy to sort out here without having to watch everything. Many of the Gundam series aren't really connected to each other at all.

The Universal Century (U.C.) timeline (see treatment's post for the titles, but ignore his comments on the content) has a ton of titles in it, but the backbone is made up of Mobile Suit Gundam (the original series), Zeta Gundam, and Char's Counter Attack. If you've seen the original series (or the compilation movies) and Zeta, the rest will fall into place. Most of the other titles are relatively standalone and have little to no connection to the "backbone" titles other than taking place in the same fictional universe.

However, the "Alternate Universe" series are more or less standalone. Some have direct sequels, an OVA side story, or manga side stories, but don't have any story relation to any of the other titles as they are in separate fictional universes/timelines. For example, Gundam Wing and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz are related, but as far as they are concerned, none of the other series ever happened or will happen.

The Alternate Universe (AU) series:
-G Gundam
-Gundam Wing and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
-Gundam X
-Gundam SEED, Gundam SEED Destiny, Gundam SEED: Stargazer
-Gundam 00
-Turn A

Each dash is a separate universe and unrelated to the other titles (except Turn-A, which I'll get to in a bit). Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz is a direct sequel to the Gundam Wing TV series. Gundam SEED Destiny is a direct sequel to Gundam SEED, and Stargazer is a sidestory that takes place during Destiny. Other than those, all the AU titles are unrelated....

...Except Turn-A. Turn-A is technically another timeline but is still related to a bunch of the other series, both UC and AU. However, its connection is extremely limited and basically amounts to UC viewers seeing some familiar units and one plot point near the end of the series, but even said plot point doesn't require any familiarity with any other series to understand or appreciate (or laugh or roll your eyes at).

Treatment does not like the UC Gundam shows, does he? Although I do agree with his opinion about Gundam 00. That is not a very good show.
The only ones that have any kind of order to follow are the UC shows, which I will list in chronological order (this is how you want to watch them, correct?):

Mobile Suit Gundam Igloo – Haven’t seen. I’m not sure about the availability here. The DVDs were supposed to have been released last year (I think) but I never saw them in stores and didn’t really see them on the internet. They did pop up on Amazon, but were listed as discontinued. If anyone can shed light on this for me please do so.
Mobile Suit Gundam – The original series. Pretty good. The disks are currently out of print, but can be found on Amazon or eBay.
Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy – Compilation movies of the original series and in my opinion much better than the series.
Mobile Suit Gundam 8th MS Team – Pretty good.
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket – Very good.
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 – Decent, although it seem like a lot of fans dislike it.
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam – Very good. This is probably my favorite anime series.
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ – Decent. Not available in North America. This series gets a lot of hate and fans consider it to be the worst UC Gundam show. Personally, I actually enjoyed watching it and thought that near the end it got pretty good. I will admit it did start out pretty odd and the moon-moon episodes are terrible, but other than that, I thought it was pretty decent.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack – Good. This is a nice ending to the Amuro/Char rivalry.
Mobile Suit Gundam F91 – Decent, although it should have been a series.
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam – Haven’t seen. Not available in North America.
G-Savior – Live-action movie. Not very good. This is pretty much equal to the movies the Sci-fi channel pumps out.
Turn A Gundam – Haven’t seen. Not available in North America. I’m listing this here because I believe Tomino said in an interview that this is in fact a UC Gundam show, although it’s set in the Universal Century’s distant future.

The alternate universe Gundams you can watch in any order with the exceptions of Gundam Wing, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny, and Gundam Seed: Stargazer, although Stargazer isn’t available in North America.
G – Gundam – I’ve seen about half of it, but I can’t really remember any of it (it was a while ago).
Gundam Wing – Not very good. I liked it when I saw it in high school (about 8 or 9 years ago), but I tried to rewatch it a few months ago and dropped it after episode 15. It just felt dull and boring and seemed like the same thing was happening in every episode.
Gundam X – Haven’t seen. From what I’ve read on message boards, it sounds like it’s not very good.
Gundam Seed – OK. I thought it was alright until halfway through, then it seems like there was too much stuff going on and the story collapsed under its own weight. I also didn’t care for the character designs.
Gundam Seed Destiny – Haven’t seen. It seems a lot of fans didn’t care for it.
Gundam 00 – Currently airing on Monday nights at 11 on Sci-fi. Personally I don’t really care for it that much. Every episode feels the same and a lot of the characters I find to be unlikeable (and in Saji and Louise’s case useless).

I hope this helps.

No, he just thinks he's funny.

(and in Saji and Louise’s case useless).

Actually, I'm a longtime UC-guy. Lurv 0080 and 8th-MS.

Even so, still gotta call a spade a spade, you know.

Didn't really care about Tomino or the AU-shows, tho.

I can kinda relate. I like the stories; I just don't care for his direction (or lack thereof). I think he's tone deaf.

Thanks for all the help. I really appriciate it. I know they arent all part of the same series. I just want to watch them all back to back someday as if they were "historically" connected. Thanks again for the assist, what order to watch them in has really been bugging me for a while.

A few notes:

ZZ Gundam is only considered the worst UC era Gundam series in the west. The Japanese fan community, for the most part, prefers ZZ over Zeta Gundam.

As for Gundam F-91, it was intended as a TV series but money and differences over the direction of the story led to it being turned into a movie. It probably features the second most iconic Gundam song after "Ai Senshi". The Crossbone manga basically shows you the direction of F-91 after the movie ends and as far as I know is considered canon.

Chances are we will never see Victory Gundam in the states since Tomino basically disowns the series now. It was apparently written during the peek of his depression era.

Treatment does not like the UC Gundam shows, does he?

Treatment doesn't seem to like any of them hardly so I have been inspired to create a list of Gundam series in order with my opinion as a Gundam fan with a more thoughtful analysis than Treatment.

Universal Century:

MS Gundam Igloo -- A CGI series that takes place during the OYW haven't seen
Mobile Suit Gundam AKA Gundam 0079/ First Gundam -- A true classic, single handedly revolutionized the mech genre to include "real robots", just don't judge it by animation quality alone.
Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta -- Sequel to the original series, greatest Gundam ever made, just don't judge it by animation quality alone.
Gundam ZZ -- Haven't seen it.
Gundam 08th MS Team -- Takes place during the later parts of the One Year War (same year as the original series) very good series.
Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket -- Takes place towards the end of the OYW, very unique story, with interesting characters from a different perspective.
Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory -- A sort of prequel to Zeta, very enjoyable action packed series.
Gundam Char's Counterattack -- Takes place after ZZ, A great movie fantastic battles and characters.
Gundam F91 -- An OK movie gets a lot of hate, I thought it was too short, great battle though.
Gundam Victory -- haven't seen.
G-Saviour -- Live action Gundam movie, awful, just awful, avoid at all costs.

Alternate Universe Timline:Most of them aren't connected by story
Mobile Fighter G Gundam -- More of a tournament fighting show than a war drama, enjoyable even though I prefer war dramas.
Gundam Wing -- Very overrated series here in the states, somewhat preachy, enjoyable on some levels.
Gundam X -- Very good series, great characters and interesting story.
Turn A Gundam -- Interesting take for a Gundam series, I don't recommend this one if you are new to the franchise.
Gundam SEED -- Enjoyable series, the only things I don't like about it are the art style and it doesn't seem very original.
Gundam SEED Destiny -- I have mixed feelings about this series, sometimes I think it represents everything wrong with the franchise.
Gundam 00 -- Very enjoyable series, I really liked the fresh take on the story and characters.

As for the SD series some of them are parodies of other Gundam shows so you may not get all the jokes and the other one is for kids so I didn't care for it.
