This must be a modern re-make of my Tales of Genji OVA that I have an old CPM tape of (subtitled).
CDJ has vols. 1 - 4 posted for pre-order. Hiromi Tsuru is the seiyuu for Rokujō no Miyasudokoro (according to ANN http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=10223 )
Looks like another spate of R2 pre-orders for me.

Being a die hard fan of the great duo: Akio Sugino & Osamu Desaki this is a must watch title for me, of course having Sakiko Tomigawa and Hiromi Tsuru in the show is another major plus for me :)
I'll wait for the show to make it on BD (like Ultraviolt) so i'll pass on the DVDs. R1 ? would love to see an R1 release for it but i don't see such show getting an R1 release, at least not in the near future.

Now I have an upconverting player, I still buy what I hope will be high quality DVDs. Shame no box has been done for this series.

Not really; it's just another crack at the same material. Japan is celebrating this year as the 1,000th anniversary of the writing of "The Tale of Genji" and so it was apparently thought to be a good time to take another shot at animating it. I saw the first episode on TV, and I like it better than the old Gisaburo Sugii movie already. Nothing against Sugii, but I thought that the same approach he used to such good effect on "Night on the Galactic Railroad" (cold, distant, creepy) just wasn't a good fit for "The Tale of Genji" -- a book filled with descriptions of the vibrant, complex court life of Heian Japan. There was also the issue of adapting an 1,100 page novel into one movie. If it was to be done at all, a TV series is the way to go. I hope they're planning for lots of episodes...
