Getting bored so... I uploaded some of my anime wallpapers into photobucket for a friend of mine that keeps bugging me for them.
Thought I would just go ahead and share with all you nice folks here.

For a long time, I've been using a Lucky Star (http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/5213/luckywallsx2.jpg) one with the girls dressed up as mikos. However, I just recently switched to one that's related to Sketchbook ~full colors~ (http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/6886/sketchwallnb6.jpg). Although the end result is poor Kate is covered up by icons, but the trio turn out just fine. Actually I'd be half tempted to make a wall based on perhaps one of the R2 covers or something else, but my options for images are limited...
How long has it been since we last had a desktop thread....? Maybe I'll upload some of the scans I've cleaned up in recent months when I get home.
Hate to do a request in this thread... but does anyone have a certain Azumanga Daioh wallpaper?
Has a blank white background, and all it is is Osaka asleep on a ledge with nekokoneko on her head, again, Osaka and the two cats all have their eyes closed... I had it a while back, but then I had a harddrive crash and lost it.... haven't been able to find it again. There's a similar one where Osaka and the two cats have surprised/angry looks on their face, but I don't like it as much.

Indeed, the fate of the universe depends on you. In any case, I've had my wallpaper changed again already. It's been changed to this Touhou related image (http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/3870/sanarei03xd6.jpg). Yeah, I know changing so soon and to a different resolution makes no sense. However it's all think to having to go back to an older monitor.
Alright. I uploaded a bunch of stuff I've done recently. I'll post them a little bit at a time for the next few days so I don't get my account with my ISP shut off. :P Most of these are over 1 MB.
First up we have Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (http://spe.midco.net/tyrellgoetz/wallpapers/1600/higurashi02.jpg) in 1600x1200. I got into a strange Higurashi kick for a while so there are more where this came from. I'm pretty proud of how this turned out. I was able to really knock out the scan noise and the color and shadow adjustments I made felt right.

The only problem with dual monitors is that a truly good wallpaper is almost impossible to find. Not much in the way of 3360x1050 wallpapers out there. =P It also needs to meet certain criteria in terms of layout so that the split between monitors looks natural, and there's nothing too awesome on the far right where Winamp goes for me.
This basically restricts me to trying to take large magazine scans and resize/crop/flip them around until good bits fit, and then mess with shifting the part in either monitor together in the middle until it accounts for the gap between monitors (roughly 1.5 inches) so instead of the wallpaper having a gap, it just looks like there's something blocking a piece of it in your line of vision, if that makes sense... all depends on what's around the split.
Anyway, long story short, I don't change my wallpaper much because nothing really fits and I can't go back to separate wallpapers anymore. It just feels wrong.
Personally I've never understood the appeal of dualmon wallpapers. I use nVidia nView to set two different unique wallpapers on each of my screens. In my case it also helps that they are different sizes and resolutions (21.3" @1600x1200 and 19" @1280x1024), but even if I had matching monitors I wouldn't be inclined to use a single wallpaper across both screens.
You get to see two different pieces of art you like at the same time, it seems like a win to me.

I agree 3360x1050 is a rare animal indeed, could only find a few things at that size and then the quailty is not the greatest. But take a peek and see if its anything you would like to add to your collection.

That's the problem with my setup now that I have a greater resolution to work with. Since there isn't a whole lot of anime wallpaper at 3840x1200, I've resorted to scaling and/or cropping large pictures. It works even if you can tell they're scaled. Most of the time they're covered anyways, so it's not too much of a problem, but when done correctly, they look pretty neat. I actually prefer dual-mon wallpaper over two separate images because of the sheer scale with certain pictures/perspectives. I posted a couple of pics of my desktop (not the actual wallpaper) in thread drift and just looking at them from a distance has an awesome factor to it, at least imo.
As for accommodating the wp around the physical properties of the monitors themselves, I agree. That's one of the reasons why I made sure to get two monitors that had similar dimensions (if not identical). It's becoming harder these days to find a really good monitor (on the cheap) without the lame bezels. Landscaping the wallpapers while trying to get the seams right isn't the only issue for me though. Calibrating the image across two, non-identical monitors can be a challenge, especially if one runs into the uber-expensive range and the other on the exact opposite. Somehow I've managed to get the colors calibrated as closely as I could on the cheaper monitor against the more expensive one, but it took forever.

Yeah, this is definitely a problem. I don't think it's possible to get my monitors all that close in contrast, brightness, colors, etc. One is two years older than the other, and they're different brands, and no matter how I tried they were clearly different. This isn't a problem for normal usage because I usually use them for different purposes, but the difference on my wallpapers is hard to ignore. This is why upgrading monitors will be a very expensive proposition, because I will be buying two identical monitors at the same time. Given that it makes sense to move up in size (20" widescreens right now), it'll probably set me back $400-500.
Anyway, for an example of a wallpaper I used for awhile... Ikuno-sama~~ (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t299/anon09876/desktop_ikuno_scan_small.jpg) (not explicit but still not safe for most workplaces). Obviously that's scaled down to a fraction of the original size, to get it under 1MB. The actual one I used is like 4MB. The crease turned out to be within the 'dead zone' that you don't see because it as "behind" the gap between monitors or close enough that it's not visible.
~35.5 inches of Ikuno sprawled out across my desktop is hands down one of the sexiest things I have ever seen.

At work I have this particular Aria wallpaper (http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/5667/39691230ju9.jpg) across my dual monitors and it's right size to have the split between their heads.
At home I have Kallen and C.C (http://anime.desktopnexus.com/wallpaper/31207/). , but I'll be changing it since we're past the holidays now.

I use two monitors because in most online RPGs I run too accounts at once. So I will have one character on one screen and my other character on the other screen, makes for better grouping when you group with yourself LoL
Plus its nice to have your video game on one screen and maybe anime on the 2nd screen for background noise. Then sometimes I like to surf the web for two different things at once. Its kindof like ahving two computers at once sort of thing.
Actually, I'm trying to figure out why one would have two different monitors in the first place or how one manages to even pay attention to both...
It is a multitasking dream come true. I could not live without it now. Especially useful for things like photoshop because you can use one screen exclusively as your workspace and the other one to place all of your toolbars and controls so they are not in the way. I have firefox up on the main screen right now, and on the right is a multitude of applications like winamp and an explorer window. Believe me it's not as overboard as it seems once you're used to it.
Why people think they have to have a single wallpaper span both still confuses me though. Having two monitors is an opportunity to have two different wallpapers at the same time.

Have you ever tried it? It's just so vastly superior. Seeing one awesome image stretch across so much space is way better than any two standard wallpapers. I used to do the separate images thing when I had two different sized monitors, but I'll never go back now.

Perhaps, but I doubt I'll ever spend the money required in order to start practicing with dual monitors. Although looking at the desk where the computer is, I doubt I could fit another monitor anyway.

Actually, I'm trying to figure out why one would have two different monitors in the first place or how one manages to even pay attention to both...
Danbooru in one monitor, Picasa for saving and renaming files in the other.
My online banking stuff in one monitor, my financial information spreadsheet in the other.
Order history and other stuff in one monitor, anime collection spreadsheet in the other.
Da Capo in one monitor, chatting with people on AIM or IRC in the other.
Easy access to various desktop calendars/note programs and Winamp without having to minimize/show desktop or alt-tab excessively.
Watching something low priority in one monitor while doing things in another.
Etc etc. Trying to get by with only one monitor now is impossible, and I hate having to settle with just one (and 4:3 at that!) at work.
I do sometimes have the secondary monitor off, either to save electricity when I'm not using it (conserve energy, biribiri!) or more often if I'm watching things. I have played video in one monitor while doing things in another (as noted above), but generally speaking when I watch something I need it full screened and completely isolated from other sources of brightness. This is why most online streaming sites suck, because they often don't give you true full screen, and have some annoying control/menu bar at the bottom.
So it's not a matter of paying attention to both at once. It's having a desktop twice as large, or being able to use two fullscreened programs simultaneously.
Hell, if I could find a video card with more than two inputs, I'd keep these monitors when I upgrade and connect FOUR at once!

I never would have thought to purchase a second monitor purely for this purpose, but I had upgraded to get a better monitor (as opposed to replacing a broken one) and thus two working monitors were available. So I initially just did it for the sheer novelty of it. Well, I was blown away, and will never go back.

Once you go multimon it's always hard to go back. screen estate (http://members.cox.net/%7Esensuifu/dualmon.jpg) is always needed, especially for multitasking between apps and other programs. A secondary monitor provides a reference point for many things and can help make your workflow more efficient.
I do sometimes have the secondary monitor off, either to save electricity when I'm not using it
same. If I'm not working on a project that requires both screens, one is off.
I've dedicated each monitor to specific applications- gaming on one, pretty much everything else on the other.

The Apple Cinema HD Display (http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9179LL/A) is a 30" 2560×1600 resolution display, and according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QXGA#WQXGA),

See, if I were ever going to go that high on resolution the actual physical size of the monitor would need to be a lot bigger than 22". Most things would just be far too small at that resolution. Imagine trying to watch something on niconico or youtube - it'd be nearly invisible.
It'd be great in terms of overall screen real estate, but too much of what exists on computers today is made with much lower resolutions in mind. 3840x2400 on 22" sounds like a case of display capability far outstripping the level of the content that goes on it.

Well, as I mentioned I can't really. My displays don't share the same vertical or horizontal resolution so it's not possible to scale the image in a linear fashion. I could make wallpapers for people with dualmon spans but the time it would take would be prohibitive for me.

Hmm I think there are programs that will handle this for you, but I imagine it wouldn't much help because it'd be a rare wallpaper that would look good across two different sizes of monitor.

It's more suitable for the professional market. They're unlikely to market the model to consumers in general. Like the NEC professional displays that use H-IPS, they're the best LCDs available but the cost makes them unfeasible for regular joes so they are marketed exclusively to photography professionals who actually need the accuracy. There are applications (CAD/CAM comes to mind) where professionals really need the high resolution in a smaller screen.

Exactly. :) I understand the appeal, but I like what I do as well. It takes me long enough to clean up a scan at the resolutions I do now.
Well since I'm in here I'll post my second contribution to the thread. I've used this for an avatar as well recently.

One small difference, however, is the one I linked to has a better nose placement for Akari. :catgirl: Of course, now that I've pointed it out.. it will bug you to no end lol

Had this not been pointed out, I don't think I'd have noticed :sd:
Zooming up real close, I see what you're both talking about.
Third up for sharing is Shakugan no Shana (http://spe.midco.net/tyrellgoetz/wallpapers/1600/shana01.jpg) @ 1600x1200. I hesitate to post this one, it is not my best effort. I was struggling with fixing Shana's hair and I basically gave up halfway and just quicky fixed it at the end. It's still a lustworthy image so I kept it.

Figured I'd also link over this Alice Carroll in school uniform (http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j203/nekonene/AoD/016.jpg) wallpaper, although most Alice fans probablly have it already. :catgirl:
Today I have Louise from Zero no Tsukaima (http://spe.midco.net/tyrellgoetz/wallpapers/1600/zeronotsukaima01.jpg) for you all @1600x1200. This is my most recent effort, and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. The color variations in her hair were left there intentionally. I though it looked more natural. Otherwise I figured out a few new tricks to really knock out the noise in dark colors where I needed to when it used to be really difficult. Enjoy.
PS - if anybody actually likes these please let me know so I know I'm not wasting my time uploading all of them. :)
edit: I see some weird horizontal bands in her stockings. Hopefully it is just something firefox is doing while rendering because that is not in the file I have on my local machine and it's the same file I uploaded.

Not Haruhi, I don't know who that is exactly but she's clearly drawn by Nishimata Aoi (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/index?tags=nishimata_aoi), who does the art for Navel's Visual Novels. She's probably best known as the original artist for the characters in Shuffle
Edit: Looks like she's probably Haneda Kobato (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/index?tags=haneda_kobato) from Oretachi ni Tsubas wa Nai, which is presumably one of those aforementioned Navel VNs.

1) Shana : Shakugan no Shana
2) Rin, Saber, Berserker : Fate/Stay Night
3) likely original (art by Carnelian)
4) group : Love Hina
5) Annette Vaslois : Moldavite (art by Carnelian)
6) Feena Fam Earthlight : Yoake Mae Yori Ruri-iro na
7) dunno (probably Carnelian again)

Does anyone here know of a good place to get anime wallpapers that are 1920x1200 ?
I use two largish lcd's (27" Nec 2690wuxi (primary) and 24" Nec 2470WNX(secondary) and and both are obviously widescreen,I hate using the stretch feature,so 4:3 and 5:4 are out of the quesition.I have not been able to find any decent sites.
TIA ! :)
I see threads for them on the 4chan anime walllpaper board from time to time. It seems like lower res laptop displays get the focus for wallpaper these days, and I make mine for 4:3 and 5:4 aspect because that's what I have.
Also, I am extremely jealous of you and your delicious professional NEC displays. H-IPS > S-IPS > S-PVA > S-MVA > MVA > TN-Film which should be lying dead in a ditch by now instead of dominating the entire bloody LCD monitor market.

What I do is scale large wallpaper (if not native, at least closest to native res as possible) and crop them to 16:10. Or, scale them to the monitor's native res (1920x1200; 3840x1200 if dual-mon) and use a center-stretch. There could be minor artificating from the rescales, but not anything as bad as taking DVD resolution and blowing it up to 3840x1200.
As for the 27" NEC, I always considered it a 25" despite the .5" ;) 26" and 27" seem like akward sizes where I consider 24" and the next size being 30" the norm, even though both of my monitors are categorized in the 26" range.

You can search danbooru using image width as a metatag. I think it should be available to non-members.
width:1920 - safe danbooru (http://safebooru.donmai.us/post?tags=width%3A1920)
width:1920 - regular danbooru (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post?tags=width%3A1920)
safebooru.donmai.us is the new worksafe domain, although the ads (if you're below privileged level) are still potentially explicit. That may change, however.

Why is it that every image that I am seeing is 850 pixels wide with a file name that starts with "Sample-"?
Could that be happening because I am not a Member.

It's already been mentioned that's Sister Princess, but I'd like to make the following comment. I'm not sure if I should be happy to see all 12 at once or sad that the view of some of them is partially blocked. I feel especially sorry for Hinako and Aria. Although Yotsuba is looking rather nice and it's good to get a decent view of their figures. Good for research purposes.

Keeping the thread alive, I have a Lucky Star (http://spe.midco.net/tyrellgoetz/wallpapers/1280/luckystar01.jpg) wall here.
Ah, cheerleaders. Always a classic.

I was told to come up with a new wallpaper for the computer. So I did a quick check of my Touhou image folders. I decided to go ahead and go Youmu and Yuyuko (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/HolyAjora/wall_touhou_youmuyuyuko.jpg). Perhaps, I could have found something better, but I figured I spent enough time searching. Also, yeah, I'm sure some would have cropped it differently.
