I just noticed that when I order a bunch of items with different ship dates... even when I select ship in as few shipments as possible... I still get multiple shipments.

Last order I did had like 7 shipments...

I did order some manga... Tsubasa 25 26 and xxxholic 15 and kissXsis along with some CDs and other artbooks...

Since they werent gonna bunch em all up I went and checked to see if I could combine my order with my other outstanding orders... and I could!

Down to 1 open order with 10 shipments due... If they ship this all at once I am dead to the duty tax... but I have to say if they are gonna ship me piece meal like this... it saves on that per order shipping fee, since I only have to pay that once and then its a flat rate per item.

My last two orders were like this as well. Instead of shipping together and waiting for everything to be released, the books were being shipped as they became available. Maybe they don't want people to get the chance to cancel?

This is not new. Amazon have done this for a several years now, depending on the release and shipment dates. They use an algorithm for determining whether it costs more to have something lying in a warehouse waiting to be sent, compared to shipping now. Unfortunately this can be a very bad thing, particularly if you want to save on customs handling fees (which are per package) like some of us have to pay.

yeah. I had this happened to me a few times over the years with them.

afaik and ime, they don't charge you any extra shipping-fees.

not sure about customs-fees, tho, as i usually don't get those with my orders.

This is one of those times that I must point out again the injustice of Americans getting more, cheaper and faster anime released locally, while at the same time not having to pay through the nose if they do import (here in the UK we pay duty and VAT on the whole price, including shipping, of any order including DVDs and CDs over £18 with a ridiculous "handling fee" slapped on top for the privilege).
