Thought this might be better suited to Retail Forum, but there is another Amazon JP related thread running here at the moment, so hope it's okay.
In the past, I've been too slow to snatch up some DVDs that have since gone out of print. I keep my eyes on the Amazon Japan marketplace for titles that are particularly high on my want list (getting pretty low these days since my heart lies with 80s/90s anime, much of which has been taken care of now). One thing that bugs me about the Am.JP marketplace is that, in my experience, you have to be very lucky to happen across a seller who is willing to ship internationally. You can wait and check various items for ages before this happens.
And yet...
On other Amazon sites, I have often had luck with simply asking the seller if they would be willing to open up the shipping options on their listing to accomodate international postage. Of course, Amazon refuse to put orders through unless that "ship internationally" box is ticked, so it's necessary to get in contact with the seller themselves before even attempting to purchase.
So I'm curious - does anyone else here use the marketplace at Amazon Japan, and if so, have you ever tried your luck at convincing a seller to alter the shipping terms in their listings? Also, if I wanted to try asking myself, does anyone more skilled in the language than I care to offer a suggestion as to the most polite way of doing so? I wouldn't want to sound too desperate :)
Thanks.
