Favorite Blonde Anime Characters [Archive]

With all the "crazy" hair colors in anime it's easy to forget about some of the more "common" hair colors. Green, blue, purple, etc., hair colors are nice, but I was recently reminded of how much I like blonde anime girls. I don't know why, but I find anime blondes to be especially attractive. Some of my favorite blondes are Ayaka Yukihiro (Negima!), Nekane Springfield (Negima!), Evangeline (Negima!), Saber (Fate/Stay Night), Fate Testarossa (Lyrical Nanoha), and Angel (The Big O).

The question this thread is asking then, is whether you have any blonde anime characters you find to be especially attractive (whether they be male or female), and who are they?

Top 5;

5) Tina Foster (Ai Yori Aoshi) - Blonde who is too American to be Japanese...and too Japanese to be American...funniest character in the series as well.

4) Eri Sawachika (School Rumble) and Sara Adiemus (also School Rumble) - Tied due to both being awesome in different ways. Eri is the traditional European ojou-sama type, funny, beautiful, sardonic but also her deepness runs well, her relationship with Harima is a big difference in the show. On the other hand, Sara, not as well known, is simply a breath of fresh air whenever she turns up. She's pretty, polite, fun, always smiling and even her sarcastic comments always sound so innocent...:)

3) Alicia Florence (Aria) - Before TGB starts on how beautiful she is, I'll get in before hand. :) Stunning, smiling, ara ara, an interesting mentor to Akari and a very interesting friend to Akira, she's what Belldandy would be if she was human. :P

2) (tied) Fate Tesstarossa (Nanoha) and Layla Hamilton (Kaleido Star) - Fate shows both cute and gorgeous from Nanoha and A's to StrikerS, as a deep meaning character with a background and a half, whilst Layla takes the ojou-sama route but with 10 times the effect - her relationship with Sora is next to nothing the best thing to happen to a character's development, making the episode 26 climax all the more heartwrenching...

1) Kirino Chiba (Bamboo Blade) Most...likeable...character...ever. Her :3 smile, her ditziness yet shocking insightfullness, her moments of loneliness yet always making her teammates cheer up, her love for Tama-chan and Saaya (but in different ways), she's so genki, so happy, so awesome...impossible to hate. I dare you to try and hate this ditzy but fun blonde. :)

Tough choice, I can think of at least 34 characters who have at varying levels caught my interest and all are blond. Not sure if I should list them all. Still some that come to mind are

First two that come to mind are Kaolla Su and Eri Sawachika.

Kaolla was my first experience with a character that off the wall and crazy, and easily become my favorite from the Love Hina.

I find all the girls of School Rumble to be awesome, but Mikoto and Eri especially so. But since we're talking blondes, Eri gets the nod.

Absolute favorite? I don't have any idea, but a few that leap to mind:

Fate Testarossa Harlaown, the girl with sad, beautiful eyes who grew up into a woman who's determined to not let any other children suffer as she did

Excellen Browning, a vivacious woman always quick with a joke and even faster with a shot. She acts carefree and flirty, but truly loves only one man

Sara Werec, horribly scarred by betrayal, she retreated into herself, only opening up to an antique doll. But she found friendship even as she pushed others away, and gained the determination to do what she had to do

While not my "favorite" (that'd likely be Fate, I'd have to think about it), I want to give some love for Sawachika Eri of School Rumble. I just finished watching both TV seasons of the anime (having seen most of it when it first aired) and my love for her is just immense. Apart from being the sexiest member of the cast, she's simply one of the most interesting and complex.

I doubt a School Rumble discussion thread would go anywhere (and the anime stops halfway through the manga so it'd be hard to segregate the two strands of discussion) so I had opted not to post one so far, but what I was going to do eventually is a character poll. Eri will definitely get one of my votes, that's for sure.

Blond characters don't do much for me, for some reason. However...

Eri Sawachika is easily one of my favorite characters. Twintails + General feistiness = love.

Alicia from Aria is just perfect...in a cast of perfect characters. Should wear her glasses more often, though.

Kuriko, from Maburaho. After a while, the only reason I was watching the show.

I've finally cleared enough time to start Nanoha A's, so list is subject to change.

Of course Fate Testarossa, relentlessly serious, criminal (she has her reasons!) magical girl of Nanoha.

Evangeline, centenarian witch/vampire from Negima. She's almost all tsun and no dere. And she damn near gave me a foot fetish from just one scene in the manga, ahem.

Minako Aino, Sailor Venus. As the "Sailor of Love" she ends up having the most relationship frustrations, and her issues with self confidence are both amusing and endearing. Also, like all Sailor Moon girls, she has incredible gams.

And lately I've been won over by the indefatigable Sheryl Nome of Macross Frontier.

I could probably do a ranked list if I put some thought into it, but Kanzaki was the first girl to pop into my head. She's just so wonderfully screwed up. When I made a list of my top 25 favorite anime/manga girls three years ago she actually ranked as number one all together.

I think it depends on the lighting. :sd: Her hair seems to be that sandy shade of blonde that sort of changes colors with the seasons and whatnot. I've seen official art where her hair color is anything from practically yellow to the brownish yellow similar to that in your (excellent choice for an) avatar.

In any case, whatever shade Robin's hair is, she's got charisma to back it up, too! The quiet mysterious type rates highly with me.

Upon further review, and gazing at the DVD covers from WHR, I agree with you that Robin's hair does have that sandy blond look, so yeah, she does qualify for this thread. Heh! Guys aren't getting much attention here. :(

Edward Elric (FMA) - hyperactive, amusing, yet serious. Really good lead character.
Riza Hawkeye (FMA) - pretty, especially with her hair down, and an excellent shot. Even more awesome in the manga.
Eri Sawachika (School Rumble) - very pretty, and though I disliked her personality initially, I warmed up to her. Though Harima/Eri vs. Harima/Yakumo drives me insane, I like both pairings so much!
Faye (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle) - humorous and fun to watch. Then his backstory arrives (manga-only so far), and tears begin shedding.
Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto) - humorous, energetic, and as someone who felt quite alone during his pre-teen years, I can relate to him. His most recent actions in the manga have transformed him into GARuto. :sdsmiley:
Sanji (One Piece) - he's a perverted cook who fights with only his feet and makes smoking look cool (though I'm quite anti-smoking). Nuff said.
Cagalli Yula Athha (Gundam Seed) - until they pulled a "Luke/Leia" on us, this is who I thought Kira should have hooked up with. Very pretty, and a nice mix of a strong yet struggling personality
Gourry (Slayers) - hilarious, kicks butt in a fight, and he's dubbed by Brock's (Pokemon) VA. What's not to like? :)
John Brown (Ghost Hunt) - I think he was blond, too lazy to check. Anyway, he was just really likable, and often kicked butt with his methods against the supernatural.
Miria (Baccano!) - her and Issac make a hilarious pair that's just a joy to watch, and I've only seen the first volume, but something tells me they'll remain my favorite characters

I'm sure I forgot some, but those come to mind immediately (I don't consider Saiyans to be genuinely blond, so no Future Trunks here, and I personally wouldn't consider TTGL's Nia a blonde).

Well, I might as well explain some of my picks.

Ayaka Yukihiro (Negima!): Well, Ayaka's "fascination" with Negi Springfield is just too amusing for me, and deep down inside she's good friends with Asuna. Plus she's got a nice figure to boot. :catgirl:

Evangeline (Negima!): Loli vampire for the win. Like Shimauma said, she's mostly tsun and very little dere, but that's why I like her so much. Not to mention she has centuries of life experience, and that's another thing I like about her.

Saber (Fate/Stay Night): She totally kicks butt. Not to mention she looks rather dashing, in both her combat armor and in her regular clothes. She also has the heart of a lion, and she's very dominating.

Fate Testarossa (Lyrical Nanoha): Feito-chan is a magical girl, and she's got really pretty hair and beautiful eyes. Her battles in A's were amazing, and I can't help but feel bad for the life she used to lead.

People have been mentioning Rosette Christopher (Chrono Crusade) and that's reminded me that she's another favorite blonde of mine. Her recklessness and hyper personality are a blast. She's also hot.

"Honey" and "Strawberry" blondes are fine too. I'm not going to get too picky about characters whose hair color fall under the "Grey area" especially since I considered Nia to fall under the blonde category.

I remembered some more characters.

Fuu Hououji (Magic Knight Rayearth): something about Fuu's appearance in combination with her smartness and way of talking make her rather sexy in my book.

Margery Daw (Shakugan no Shana): I can't believe I forget her. She's a character I liked the moment I saw her. She seems like she's a bit heartless but deep down inside she really cares.

I've only got a few favorite blonde male characters, but here they are.

Kurz Weber (Full Metal Panic!): womanizer who's hilarious to watch, and he's very talented marksman.

Edwarc Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist): what can I say? This guy is just fun to watch and is a very talented alchemist. He is also very caring.
