*grumbles* So I forget a poll, and need to delete the old thread. Fine. But then I can't recreate it correctly... *sighs* Well, let's try this again, then, shall I?

Round 1 still has a bit of time left, but let's not rest around waiting for it to end. Time keeps moving, and so does the draft! So without further ado, round 2 is presented now for your voting approval!

That about sums it up for me. Although in the case of some characters, I need a refresher course on them. Especially ones that are related to the purchasing backlog for lack of a better term. However that's another story.

Hinagiku, Ayumu, Lina, Asa, Konata, etc. This round is completely heartless. In some ways round 1 was easier because at least I had two powerful choices that I couldn't deny as easily.

Much easier round for me. Have seen all but one of the series-stares in Bandai's direction for what is hopefully an uncomfortable amount of time for them. Had to go with Lina-and not just because of an implied threat ("Vote for me" she says with a smile to imply that that is not a request). The tough part was voting for Konata when I couldn't vote for Kagami. If Konata finishes higher than Kagami did you know she'd lord it over Kagami for-oh about forever. Didn't see the Brigade leaders notice about voting for Kyon and Yuki seemed to engrossed in her book.

Hah, well then. My votes were pretty much decided by the time I saw Hinagiku's name as she and Ayumu are two of my three favorite girls of the cast and I like few shows as much as Hayate. For the "Strong Contenders" to be consider as such, I have to pretend the Hayate girls are not on the list. It's just no contest.

I've only seen a single episode of the Slayers franchise, but it was enough for me to get an idea of Lina's character and she was pretty much exactly what I expected after hearing about her for years, so that was enough for me to keep her off the Not Familiar list. I haven't actually seen the Death Note anime (and probably never will) but I read about half the manga, so I'm familiar with Light and really don't like him at all. I haven't seen Kino's Journey, but I read the first novel so again, I have enough familiarity with the character for her to not be an unknown.

My primary vote is going to Izumi Konata because the girl is quite awesome. She also can represent what is perhaps one of my favorite series ever. That and voting for her allows me to indirectly apologize to Hiiragi Kagami for not voting for her. At least that's the way I'm looking at it. Regardless, I just can't deny her divineness. Finally, she's a status symbol. Plus she has a certain charm to her.

The second vote was a bit more challenging, but I think I've made my decision. First I have to apologize to Fudce. I know he wants people to vote Ayumu Nishizawa, who is indeed quite awesome. However I'm going to pass on voting for her. Instead, I'll be voting for Nishizawa Ayumu. I hope he can find it in his heart to forgive me. I just realized something here. A vote for Nishizawa Ayumu means I voting for an Ayumu, a food girl, a normal girl,a hamster, and a twin tails. It means I'm getting six votes in one. So apparently voting for her is economical!

I came very closing to voting for Katsura Hinagiku, but sadly I didn't have a third vote and I couldn't deny Izumi Konata. This is an example of why vote splitting can be so heartless and cruel. Then again it could have been a lot worse.

Now the fun is waiting for round 3 to start. I can say for certain that one vote is a definite lock. I'm sure some can already figure out exactly which girl in that round I refer to without me telling them.

After lots of thinking, I finally (and grudgingly) made a decision.

I ultimately went with Asa. I felt that I liked her a tad bit more than Hina overall, and she left more of a lasting impression on me, whereas I haven't delved too deep into Hayate just yet, given how I fell behind in the anime and only buy my manga during certain times of the year, meaning it's been a while since I last read the manga for Hayate.

Considering Kona-chan was my choice for R2 before nabbed, I'm happy bout that as well. Very happy about Tomoyo doing better than expected, Izumi Himuro getting joint 2nd with Hinagiku is a very pleasant surprise, whilst the vote splits meant high places for the Haruhi characters, but surprisingly not so for the Azudai or Eva ones. That doesn't bode well for Miss Sakaki in Round 3...

As for the Hayate split, Hina obviously got the chunk, but Ayumu did better than expected, so good on the food girl. Let's see if oranges can provide enough Vitamin C for round 3...(hey, I'm a poet...:P)

Wow, vote totals are waaaaaay close so far. Once again, only a few points separates first from well below first. Seven characters from 10 to 12! For two rounds in a row nobody has pulled away from the pack at all.

1. Honestly, yes. I know P9 is now an old show and was always rather marginal, but Izumi has always been a favorite of AoD posters.

2. It just goes to show how tight the voting was in this round. It's impressive that she was only 1 vote away from the win, yet tied for fourth with Hinagiku.

3. I'm not worried about my chances. I'm not playing to win. Just to show some love to some great characters.

4. Thank you to everyone who voted for Izumi. It's good to know the love for her hasn't dimmed with the years.

I think I did have a chance, since Kyon is one of those male protagonists that stands out a bit with his humorous sarcasm. The three-way tie is actually very cool for me, as I was thinking about the Kyon vs. Sousuke thing in Lucky Star, and what do you know, Kyon and Sousuke tie with Konata. :) Yuki is one of my absolute favorites too, so I'm happy she placed well and that the MoHS split didn't hurt either of them that badly. I'm not sure how I will do the rest of the draft. Some of my picks may be riskier than others, but it's a rather solid block of favorite characters for me, so I'm hoping it goes well. I don't care about winning, but it would be cool if I could place high in the end with a team of characters I've really enjoyed. As for what to say to the voters, I hope everyone's had fun picking out their favorites for each round.

- I thought Konata would do well but to finish top is quite the surprise. I didnt think I would win a single round in the whole draft so to get first place in the second round is awesome.
- To be tied with Kyon and Sousuke is not a bad thing at all. They are two characters I think highly of. So for Konata to place with them is a honor and it just shows a single vote can change everything.
- To be honest I think the rest of my draft is all down hill from here. I may have one or two surprise performers but I dont think I'd win another round, but that doesnt matter to me as I love every single one of my girls and I am happy to have each one of them.

I can't really see Evangelion's popularity dropping off that much. Asuka unfortunately had to go up against Rei this round, and that spilt Eva voting hurt them both even with the split going 6-4 in Asuka's favor.

It's possible, but it's also possible that the competition could be stronger this year. There's a lot of theories one could come up with for why any character didn't get more votes. In my case, while I did find Asuka to be one of the more interesting characters in Eva (sometimes), I wasn't that attached to her. Plus the series did leave me feeling a bit bitter, so go figure on that one.

On a side note, I think there is a way an unpopular character could win a poll. Let's say you only have six characters competing and 25 people voting. Now pretend people are only allowed one vote.

Of those 25 people, only 5 of them like character F. Everyone else hates character F. A, B, C, D, or E? The majority would rather vote for any of them over F. Yet F ends up winning the poll. Why?

Because the majority is split when it comes to deciding who to vote for. Thus you end up with a situation where A through E each end up with only four votes. Thus allowing F with five votes to easily win the poll.
