Megazone 23 Part II DVD with PS3 game heavily edited

Just a heads up in case anyone's interested. I picked up a copy of the limited edition release of the Megazone 23 PS3 game primarily because it comes with Megazone 23 Part II International (the old English dub with the footage from Robotech: The Movie at the beginning) on DVD. Unfortunately, the version of the movie on the DVD is heavily edited. Any scene with gore or sexual content/nudity is completely gone. I'm guessing this was done because the game has an "all ages" rating. Still, I'm disappointed. I thought this might be a way to get the old dub on DVD, since it was only available in Japan to people who bought all the singles (I bought the box set). Also, this version was clearly not remastered like the Japanese versions of Parts 1-3 (which were later released in the U.S. by ADV). It appears to be a port of the LD (just with scenes edited out).

I thought the old international version was edited to begin with? At least I do seem to recall that there exists a version of MZ23 part 2 that was edited.

Well, both the Japanese and English versions were originally slightly edited. The fully uncut version wasn't available on video until the release of the DVD box set. However, the International version on DVD (at least the DVD that comes with the game) is heavily edited compared to the International LD. It's like watching an "edited for television" version.

This really sucks to hear. I'd love to see it, even just as a curiosity piece, but not if it's cut to ribbons. :(
