The news is out, and IGN has a hands-on (http://wii.ign.com/articles/966/966290p1.html) with the new System Menu 4.0, which adds the SD Card Menu to the Wii Menu, adds a download-to-SD card option in the Wii Shop Channel, and allows people to access games and channels from the SD Card.
In all honesty, I got it yesterday and I like it. I went and redownloaded all of the VC games I had bought before and then deleted and put them on my SD card, so at least I can truly get my money worth for those games. These are the only caveats:
1. When using anything on the SD card, it creates a scratch file on the Wii Hard Disk... So you still need enough space on the Wii itself in order to use whatever you need. The scratch only stores 1 program, so when you start up a different program from the SD card it rewrites the scratch.
2. Save data is still read off of the Wii Hard Disk and not the SD card... Though, really, the save data for these things is small as hell so it shouldn't be a problem in general.
While it doesn't play right off of the SD card, it still is a great storage solution in the end. Anyone else try it out yet?
