This was a rather diverse round for me, voting for the awesomely adorable Ushio from Clannad but also Gene "You better get ready!" Starwind from Outlaw Star, who's cool and from one of my earlier favorite series (that I still rather like). Ran comes close to being my second vote here, though.

Yes, it comes down to a choice between these three. It's kind of tricky for me in terms of these three. Besides the fact all three give me legitimate reason to vote for them, there's also another factor to consider.

If I vote for Ushio then she'll end up being the first Clannad character that I actually voted for (not including the fast polls). It's also interesting to note in each round that I passed on a Clannad characters, I also went for someone from Kanon. Ayu won out over Nagisa. Makoto won out over Kotomi.

Speaking of which, I'm three for three when it comes to Kanon girls. Meaning that either Nayuki will be the odd girl out if I don't vote for. Or I'll have literally voted for all four of the drafted Key girls.

The wild card here of course is Yoshino who in some ways can be quite interesting and has me considering her strongly. I guess another one would have been Ran, but it's been too long since I saw her series. Hence why she didn't make it on the shorter list.

Hopefully it won't take me too long to decide between the three and finalize the vote. I don't want another case of literally voting just shortly before the end of the voting period. I was cutting it very close.

It's Key time for me as well. Yeah, I thought about it and I ultimately decided to just go ahead and vote for Minase Nayuki (Kanon) and Ushio (Clannad). So there you go, I voted for all four drafted Kanon girls and I actually voted for someone from Clannad. Make of that what you will.

I figured it was better to just vote now rather than spend the next several days constantly changing my mind over and over again. I'd rather not deal with yet another "X! No, Y. Wait, X! I mean Y!" scenario. So I just went with the flow.

I have to admit I feel a bit bad about not voting for her along with multiple other characters during these past nine rounds. Yeah, I know that doesn't mean much in the long run, but still....

Me: Alright, can you believe it? It's round 9 already and after this, there is just one more show to go.
Nagi: It just seemed like yesterday when I was drafted by you only to be denied a berth in this event. And now, I we are back here doing this talk.
Haruka: I am quite crushed that nobody wanted me and that the only one who did was left out.
Me: Well, now that we are back, it is now time to do our round table with the six characters up for my votes. After having several discussions, we came up with these six prospects for my votes. My two choices are Gene Starwind and Haruko Haruhara. Gotta go with the guys who are the coolest characters here.
Nagi: For me, I select Hayate Ayasaki and Wilhelmina Carmel. Hayate is a no-brainer, obviously since he does all my housework and everything. Wilhelmina is another maid that I could trust with my life.
Haruka: I selected Nayuki Minase and Shinobu Maebara. Gotta go with the cute characters who are typical of the types that appear in A Cat Bus Stop doujinshi.
Me: Alright, now let's talk about our pick six.
Nagi: Let's start with your picks. Gene, I really like the fact that he uses that powerful ancient weapon known as a caster gun. They just are not used these days. And to an outlaw's life, I just like that. If there is anyone who makes a better outlaw it is him.
Haruka: And with Haruko, she is a cool girl with her guitar and motorcycle.
Me: And she makes Naota completely irrelevant. If you need her around when robots are coming out of your forehead, you know what's coming.
Haruka: Next, let's move on to Nagi's picks. I certainly have a soft spot for maids as I have several of them in my estate. I certainly love Nanami and Hazuki with their chainsaw and hammer. Nanami even cosplayed as Wilhelmina once. Nobody can defeat the power of the cloth. And of course there is Hayate, who I can relate with since Yuto is the same way. He is honest and loves people for who they are, without letting something like my love for the otaku culture get in the way.
Me: And I certainly think they are great guys as well. Alright, now let's move on to the final two picks, which are Haruka's picks. She selected Nayuki and Shinobu.
Nagi: Very typical of her to do that. I love the fact that Nayuki is cheerful and athletic. And the way she sleeps is very cute as well. And then there is Shinobu, who Nodoka is based off of in Kenny Akamatsu's famous titles. I can see why someone who loves to read Innocent Smile would like her. Clumsy girl if I do say so.
Me: Alright, that wraps up our edition of the six selections for which two of them will get votes for. And now, I will tell you who I voted for, well just a hint. Anyway, your hint is this: You pervert!

(Entering the booth are Nagi's maid Maria and Haruka's maids Hazuki and Nanami.)
Maria: I just realized that the Sicilian mafia was able to locate you and is bent on kidnapping you. Luckily, someone spotted them heading towards the booth, so I was informed that you were in trouble.
Hazuki: Nobody can beat my chainsaw. At the first sight of this thingie they turned tail and ran.
Nanami: Well, I am glad that we were able to scare them away. I don't know what would happen had they clobbered you.
Hazuki: Knowing that if anything should happen to Nagi under this mafia's watch that our family fortunes would take a huge hit. I was on my way back from the hardware store to get new blades for my chainsaw until I saw some men in suits storming the studio. I then gave Maria and Nanami the call to come here.
Nagi: Well, thank you for coming to my aid, Maria, Hazuki, and Nanami. I am forever greatful.
Maria: Nagi, I am afraid that we need to run away since now the mafia will be after you.
Nagi: C'mon, man! We only have one more show left. Let me at least do this final show.
Maria: Alright then, but we are going to be staying with you in the booth as well, so until then, I we will all protect you.
Me: But how did they slip pass security at the studio? And how did they find us anyway?
Hazuki: Apparently, one of the employees here at the studio happens to be an undercover member of the Sicilian mafia. Knowing what was going on with the draft and all, he knew that she would eventually show up. I was suspicious about him when he saw that the employee followed her closely. I took care of him, but he got away. Now I am sure that more mobsters are on their way.
Maria: Don't ever underestimate our intelligence system. After all, it is our sworn duty to protect and serve our mistress.
Me: Well, I guess that will wrap it up for this round. Just one more to go and this is all over. See you next time, everybody.

You've also got to love just who gets the votes - I expected Ushio to be top, but tied with YUKI? That's just unbridled awesome - I'm sure Fifi-chan is happy somewhere. :)

Then you got the multi-ties - I saw Ran, Haruko, Nayuki...no surprise, I looked for Kirino and thought she got the 4 votes...and then I saw...11? WOW. Definitely a hell of a lot better than I expected, and my other vote Yoshino also did pretty good with 10 votes...

This draft has been an eye-opener...in a GOOD WAY. (Sorry, watched too much Negima recently...:P) Well done to Brandon-dono and Nos, both having very good drafts this year, and deservingly so.

Thanks! I'll modify my question now. I'm very surprised Yuki won. I really wasn't expecting much out of her, maybe four or five votes, plus she didn't have very vocal backing. I had no idea Princess Nine was this popular still, albeit later in the draft than the other girls were picked. I have to thank machineger4, because he's the one who pushed me towards the pick. I'm hoping Melfina can get about 10 votes, but I'm not expecting too much out of her.

Coach EB, are you surprised by Ushio's result, or were you expecting this? Forgive my poor memory, but every times you've won has there been a tie? Does that surprise you if I am remember correctly? Congrats on winning the draft! Was this a surprise development, or were you expecting it? When did you first believe you had a shot at winning?

I was hoping Ushio's showing would be strong, but I wasn't really sure how she would do, since she's a relatively new character as far as anime is concerned. Since she's one of my newest favorites, I'm really happy to see she had this much support.

It's amusing that I only won rounds with ties, but that doesn't bother me. Maybe not too much of a surprise, since there have been some awesome characters I've been competing against (includes ones I've really liked and voted for, or come close to voting for) that have won.

I wasn't really certain of winning at start - I was just hoping I would place well with a team of my high favorites. After about halfway through, I though it might be a possibility, but didn't know if I could keep up high placement. I don't want to say much more as there's still one round left, even if the end result may already be determined. I want Laharl to do well too. :)

I had to ask, since a screw-up at this point would really suck at this point of the game. Official confirmation is always reassuring, after all. Plus, I'm assuming that you were tallying up the points anyways.

Also, I was withholding my congratulations for EmperorBrandon until I got confirmation, but now that it is more-or-less official, I'll say it now:

On top of that, I find that several people in fact had a good draft one way or another, points-wise or theme-wise. I never really was able to climb up the rankings much further after Round 7 or so, with a majority of the Point Leaders consistently gaining a considerable number of points every round.
