I've mentioned this game in a few threads in the past, but I figure I'd give it it's own thread.

Karaoke Joysound Wii is, as it's name suggests, a Karaoke game for the Wii. It is only out in Japan as of now, and the odds of it coming to other regions is pretty slim...

The song database is subscription-based (except for a few songs on the disk) and costs from 300 points for 24 hours, to 2000 points for 90 days, with a few other prices in between.

As of this posting there are 37248 songs in the game with more songs added every Wednesday Japan time (Tuesday night over here).

The official site is here: http://joysound.com/ex/st/wii/serch_index.htm

A more search-able song database can be found here: http://www.balaraco.com/joysound/index.php

I'd be very interested in this if it was practical to use it without actually buying a Japanese Wii. I did some quick research just now, and it sounds like on a hacked US or European console it's problematic to get it to run in the first place and impossible to successfully buy an online ticket to access the song library. I'd love to hear otherwise though!

While I used all non-modded stuff, a friend of mine was telling me that someone on a site he goes to was asking him about it, and apparently succeeded in getting the game to work on a modded Wii, including buying the ticket. So it is possible, from what I've heard.

I buy Wii Points on my (non-modded) Japanese Wii with a UK credit card with no problems so I assume even if you have it modded, as long as you can access the Japanese VC, you should be fine.
