So while buying the Oasis song Falling down (Eden of the East OP) off Amazon MP3, I decided to look into the ED Futuristic Imagination performed by School Food Punishment. I discovered that School Food Punishment's latest mini-album is available on Amazon MP3 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00266GG86) as well, and liked the samples enough to buy it. Best $6 I've spent in a while. I'm totally hooked on the band now. I added their earlier mini-albums to my current CD Japan order, and plan to buy their upcoming Futuristic Imagination single too (probably grab the LE).

It's hard to pinpoint one single reason why I like their music so much. Their music doesn't fit in any specific genre. Instrumentals are superb as well as the singer's voice. There's an interview video (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=53078335) on their MySpace page, which is pretty interesting. Their official site is here: http://www.sfp-sound.com. Apparently the band has been around since 2004, so I'm a bit surprised it's taken so long for them to picked up by a big record company. The Futuristic Imagination single is their big debut, so I hope their popularity increases.

Japanese bands have awesome names in general.

MacDonald Duck Eclair? Spangle Call Lilli Line? Where do they get this stuff?

One of the questions in the interview video on Myspace is regarding how the band came up with their name. Basically they just threw some words together that didn't make much sense. ;)

They are really good, I just listened to Futuristic Imagination, I guess I would have heard the song when I finally got around to watching Eden of the East, but it's nice to have my attention drawn to them. I will get one of the albums at some point.
