Ok...so the soul reapers can become hollows and the hollows can become soul reapers. How very interesting and the qunicy can get his powers back but he will have to actually start hating soul reapers again. Then the big one...
So Ichigo's dad is a soul reaper um whaa? If this is true and Ichigo is this true blood thing then why does no one in the soul society seem to know anything about him or his father...I mean until now except for ichigo it looks like you had to be dead to become a soul reaper. Sigh they really do seem to love changing the cosmology in this show.
On and in episode 109 the philisopical explanation for the somewhat cyclical nature of the show was rather humorous. Yeah we know we repeat plot lines...deal with it. HA. Good to see they don't take themselves to seriously!

Hollows can remove there masks to obtain the powers of a Soul Reaper but can never truly become Soul Reapers.

In that particular issue, they were talking about Kaien Shiba. The whole thing is not as unlikely as it seems, though. Remember, Urahara developed a gigai that reduces a Soul Reaper down to an normal human, and Isshin mentions that his powers have only recently returned.
I mean, if you want bigger ass pulls in Bleach, look no further than the latest manga chapter, 354. I won't say anything about, but really, it's the biggest wallbanger pulled in Bleach, and that's saying something. I'm a big fan of Bleach, but boy, has that was really irritating.

Yeah I had forgotten about him for a sec.

ROFL! Yes I know it is a fun and totally intellectually dumb series and not like the stuff I usually watch (it certainly isn't up to the level of Eva or even Big O). I'm enjoying it though. I do also try not to make fun of other peoples tastes. I was hoping they made it make sense later but ah well.
Anyway what did you think of the "philosophy" (I of course use the term loosely) in episode 109.

Ah had forgotten about that gigai thanks. When did his father say his powers had only recently returned. Missed that one.
Feel free to talk with spoiler tags here about the latest manga...want to know if following this continuously is worth it seeing it is ridiculously long. I REALLY don't want another Inuyasha experience....

I don't remember exactly where it's said in the anime (in the episode that's just been shown or the next one),
but flicking through the manga, it's When Urahara turns up and talks to Isshin.

It's difficult for me to personally say. I like Bleach a lot. But I can imagine that the endless fights of the Hueco Mundo arc, and the fact that outside a short flashback storyline there's been very little story progression to be off-putting. I'd say stick with it and see how you like it, but of course, I would, as I have. The story is always moving, unlike InuYasha, but it's sloooooow.
As for the thing in manga that's irritating.. In the most recent chapter 354, the weakest Espada Yammy, has revealed he is actually the strongest after releasing his sword. It's total bullshit really, because up until this point he has been presented as weak and stupid, and the fact he's strongest makes no sense considering the way he's been such a punching bag. The blatant disregrade for consistency is enough to turn most people who stuck with it off.

After about episode 130, Bleach starts having a lot of problems. First, in the 130s you have some of the worst filler episodes of the series, interspersed amongst canon episodes. Then the Hueco Mundo arc starts in the 140s and the next 60 episodes rarely rise above mediocre. You get about 40 episodes of fight after fight, few of which are interesting and it doesn't have the background intrigue Soul Society had. In addition to the fights being lousy to begin with (partially because a bunch of the guys being fought are random uninteresting mini-bosses; its the Ginyuu Squad/Sand Ninjas squared), the series starts dragging things out in ways that range from dull (DBZ syndrome) to incredibly obnoxious (the sorry excuses for comedy relief). Oh, and one fight starts in the 150s and doesn't end until around episode 200.
Oh, and they put the ongoing story on hold at one point to do a ~20 episode flashback filler arc and it was actually more interesting than most of the 20 or so canon episodes preceding it. While a few fights were decent and one right before the filler arc was nice, its not until after episode 200 that anything particularly interesting happens. And its a ~7 episode flashback arc (which I just finished watching yesterday; several episodes have aired in Japan since). Things have shifted a bit, and it has the potential to get a lot more interesting but I can't yet say whether it actually does. That flashback arc might be an anomaly.
So, uh, enjoy episodes 112-130ish while they last, because you won't enjoy such consistently good (and good looking; art/animation quality also drops quite a bit after this) for a long time... if ever.

Bleach is a fun show, but it's really hard to ignore the constant plotholes and inconsistencies with it. As Consignia said, it gets worse.

I'm only at volume 25 of the manga now (haven't gotten to 26 yet) but I've kept myself aware of the current chapters since I heard about the Espada vs. Soul Society battles. It's going to take a lot out of me to continue buying the manga after the last two chapters. Ichigo can cut Yammy's arm off without breaking a sweat but he barely dents Grimmjow with his Getsuga Tensho in their first encounter. Really now? Not to mention Orihime reaching out to Ulquiorra, the bad guy, in the previous chapter making it a fact she has feelings for him regardless of what just took place. I bet the OrihimexUlquiorra fans didn't have any complaints about it.
Bleach has been kind of a shame IMO. It is still worth watching, but the constant switching between filler and manga mateiral combined with the fact that the manga itself has become less and less consistent has made for something of a mess over time. I think they should have taken seasons off whenever they caught up to Tite Kubo, even if it meant the possibility of not getting back on the air. At least the show would have been consistent. Whenver a really good episode comes along it still feels like it was worth the journey though. Bleach returns to top form just often enough to keep most viewers on the hook.
I have to say, though, the whole thing with Issin still annoys me. They introduced that massively random plot thread a hundred episodes ago now and just left it dangling there.

I am going to defend the Hueco Mundo arc a bit after slating it earlier. It's not completely terrible, and there are some bits of it that are quite good. In particular Rukia fans may like the Rukia vs. Arruneio fight. I felt that added some good things to the story and was consistent with running themes. Some of the more recent fights have been good to flesh out some of the seconday characters, and said fights have gratifyingly quick and not out-stayed their welcome.
The real crux of the problem with Bleach, is the large number of characters. I suspect the Hueco Mundo arc in particular was subject to pressure from Shueisha to create a storyline that would fit the constant stream of beat 'em up games the franchise producres.
