So I just watched .hack//ROOTS in its entirety for the first time between yesterday and today, and well, it was okay. Some areas of it were cooler than SIGN, but others were not. For one thing, it seemed like they were really trying to rush the story, as there were many times when the next scene made absolutely no sense to the previous scene. Such as Haseo battling Ender, and then the next scene Haseo and gang are back at their @home acting like nothing had happened. And then there was the fact that Ovan was caputured, but then suddenly he was free with no explanation whatsoever, and he acted as if nothing had happened at all. Finally, poor Haseo, he levels up all that way only to get bumped back down to LVL1. I would be pissed if that was me. Actually, that did happen to me in FFIV, but that is another story. Of course, I guess it wouldn't make sense to play the first game already at LVL99, but still, it would make it a lot more interesting. I cannot wait until I get to play the game with that freaking scythe though, as that is going to be badass. Overall, the show had a little more action than SIGN, but there was so much convoluted plot holes that it left an overall bad taste in my mouth, and on some levels, feels like the series was pretty much pointless except for Shino's plotline. I give the series a 3/5, but it could have been a lot better.
