I may have gone a tad overboard lately.

I just recently got Elemental Gelade in the mail, and am awaiting Iria, Maze OVA and TV, and for the Kanon set.

I'm also watching Peacemaker and Fate/Stay Night. My wallet is hurting a bit, but for some odd reason I don't mind. Anyone else have this happen to them recently?

Yes me it started in January then got worse haha. That's what pre-orders do to me lol

I say I am going to budget then something new comes out or they have a sale at Rightstuf!
I think i should hide my debit card haha

I've been good though I haven't pre-ordered anything for June yet XD

I really need to budget if I am going to have any spending money when I go to Colorado.

BACKLOG
Case close S5
Get Backers disc 3 & on
Baccano! vol.3

I've slowly (thanks primarily to TRSI & ADV sales) built up a fairly stupid backlog over the last few years- I think at last count it was still on the order of 80 DVDs or so that I hadn't ever seen anything of (not counting series I'd watched beforehand and then bought the DVDs of- just stuff I've never seen at all). I've shifted in purchasing to only picking up things I've already watched (made much easier by the fact I've watched so bloody much 'real-time' over the last few years...) and lowered my Netflix account to only having one out and have a goal (which I'm actually keeping up with if not getting slightly ahead on) of watching through one backlog DVD per week in hopes of eliminating the backlog completely by this time next year. It'll get harder though when some of the shows I stopped watching early on due to being licensed (True Tears, Shigofumi) hopefully start getting released...

Got my backlog down under 500 twice this year only to have it jump right back over that mark again. Most of those I've seen in some other form, usually as the first aired in Japan. But approximately 200 of those are blind buys, or partial blind buys (if I've seen 4 of 24 eps, then vols 2-6 will be marked "never" seen [in any form]), generally due to TRSI bargain sales and cheap boxsets. So yeah, lots and lots of DVDs, but no time to actually watch them. I got 28 or so more discs in the bargain bin sale. I can barely even keep up with the new shows this season to begin with, although my Aria the Natural rewatch is taking up a large chunk of my time.

I generally avoid backlogs because of Netflix and being very, VERY stingy about what I put on my shelf. And I try to stick to a rule of not buying or renting anything I don't want to watch immediately.

For example, just last week, I finished watching The Third (rental); started watching Princess Resurrection (rental) that same week; just marathoned the BECK boxset I got from the recent TRSI sale; and I'm about to start Baccano (rental), while I wait for Eureka Seven to arrive in the coming days or weeks.

I have little free time, so I try plan ahead on what to rent or buy. Once I get Eureka Seven, I may either put my Netflix account on hold or make my way through the number of Hollywood movies I have queued up in it.

Man... I only picked up 1 DVD in the bargain bin sale (Ichigo Marshmallow 2 that I was missing) and 3 CDs. Of course, I [have been trying to cut back on buying things in general and especially on picking up things I've not already seen.... I wouldn't have gotten that DVD if I hadn't gotten 1 and 3 in a sale a ways back. Too many other projects (including several that not only involve lots of time but money too...) to just be picking up everything that looks halfway interesting. Unfortunately.

It's sad how few people are aware of the comedy stylings of Alfonso Arau.

So true.

They should be since he is infamous.

I'll admit I don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of DVDs I have in my backlog, but I'm somewhat alarmed that my backlog is steadily growing. I don't count how much I have left to watch by the amount DVDs I own but rather by the amount of episodes I have yet to watch. I just did a quick check and I have about 156 episodes of anime that I have yet to watch (plus a few movies). I'm sure it's not even close to the amount of episodes other people have to see to get through their whole backlog. Before I got into anime, the concept of "backlog" was unfamiliar to me. Now it's not. :sd: I supposed I can thank TRSI for that.

BBY 50% sale

The Best Buy sale did some massive damage to my wallet. My collection increased by at least 60 discs in March. Thanks to that I'm making progress on watching more anime than buying more.

TRSI's Bargain Bin...

I went a bit nuts at the beginning of the year...

January 28, 2009 - http://www.mania.com/aodvb/blog.php?b=1495
...

The second order came out to 33 items, one of which (Clannad; and still hoping for a dub) is a pre-order and also the only item eligible for the ADV sale and Got Anime? discount. Just like the last order, the other 32 were from the Bargain Bin. That arrived today in a nice big box.

...

With these four orders, I effectively completed 13 sets (plus one movie). Kind of makes me sad thinking of how I just buy, buy, buy and almost didn't complete anything. Or think about it all that much.

Must. Control. Impulses.

Titles Completed This Month
Air: The Movie
Hell Girl
Innocent Venus
Jinki: Extend
Le Chevalier D'Eon
Kino's Journey
Kurau – Phantom Memory

March 1, 2009 - http://www.mania.com/aodvb/blog.php?b=1621

Maze OVA and TV,

Just because of this you are full of win. I hope your not disapointed.

Anyway I know how you feel, I spend way too much on DVD's then have no money for awhile left to buy things haha.

Haha, yeah. This may be my fifth year going to Anime Expo, but also my fifth year going with very little spending money :P
