I was playing the "zelda: Collectors edition" on my wii a couple of days ago, and it froze..
Usually this wouldnt make me mad, but it does this to like every game that I play for more than 3ish hours, anything I can buy to stop this?
I've seen cooling things u can buy at gamestop and hook up to your wii, but I dont want to spend money on something that wouldnt really help.
btw, my wii makes a weird annoying loud glitch noise when it freezes, and sometimes I can just turn off the wii, sometimes it wont let me turn it off and I have to unplug/re-plug it in to get it to stop. It hasnt scractched any games, but I dont want it to start doing that, thats why i've stopped playing it till I find a solution.

I believe I had that problem too (over a year ago, so I'm kind of fuzzy on the details). I had to send mine back for repairs and I want to say they replaced the CD drive. If yours is still under warranty you should be okay, if not, sorry I'm not sure what you can do. I'm sure someone else here can help you better.

Warranty's a year. If you registered your Wii thorough Nintendo.com, you get an extra three months. I had to get my drive repaired a couple of years ago when it started rumbling like a truck in low gear, but it never caused any games to fail. As for the other part, if your Wii is standing up, you don't have to worry about heat. If it feels warm around the case, the cooling system's doing its job. If your Wii is on its side, stand it up. Lamestop's just trying to sell some junk you don't need.

You should probably go ahead and send your Wii in to Nintendo to fix. I had to do that a while back to deal with an unsettling amount of noise the Wii was making while it was reading discs, and I have to give Nintendo credit: they are really fast with getting your system back to you, and they make an effort to try and preserve your data if possible.

That's a good point. I sent my Wii in just before Christmas of whatever year and had it back before New Year's. That's like hyperfast.

That sounds about right because I had my Wii back about a week after I mailed it off to them. Yeah, that's right: it didn't take Nintendo a week to fix my Wii and get it back to me. It took a week to get my Wii back including shipping time to and from Nintendo. That's just insane, and I haven't had a problem with my Wii since.

Do NOT buy any of those coolers. They make the problems worse.

Yeh, I thought those coolers looked fake/useless...which most gamestop exclusive releases are..
Anyhow, I was able to contact Nintendo and I got great customer service, and Ill be able to send it in for repair free, and get another year of warant free, so even if they dont fix it, its still worth it lol.

Did you have the Wiiconnect24 option enabled on your Wii? You can tell if the light on the power button is yellow and your disc drive somtimees glows blue.
If you do...turn it off. Wiiconnect24 keeps your system on and running at some capacity without the fan running...which can cause problems later on.

Why woudl anyone want to have their Wii plugged in at all times anyway? I only have it plugged in when I am using it, which is the same thing for all of my electronic devices.

Because it's easier?
If I did it your way I'd have to plug in the PS2/PS3/360, stereo and the TV every time I want to play something. Then unplug it all when I'm done.
