View Full Version : How much better is the R2 Dominion set to the R1?

I was wondering if the R2s are worth buying for better PQ.....
This is for the original OVAs, CPM's release in R1 (which I have already).

Haven't directly compared them (long since sold off my CPM version) but I'd imagine they have far less compression artifacts since they're on 2 discs instead of 1 and possibly use a better master. They also have LPCM audio and of course have the original full-screen ending animation & original ED music (Whoever thought it was a good compromise to have naked swimming AnnaPuma and UniPuma reduced to a small screen for the US VHS/DVD releases in order to slap on English credits should seriously be slapped...)
Dominion Crusher Police is also most likely an upgrade in both audio and video from the R1, although I've never owned the Mangle release.
Both sets are OOP now (edit: looks like Dominion Crusher Police might have been re-issed as it seems pretty common), but they probably pop up on Yahoo Japan. I don't think they go for much unless the seller sets a high opening bid and somebody is impatient enough to bid.

I was wonder what this set is: http://www.yesasia.com/us/dominiondhi-buidhi-korekushombokkusushokai/1002802586-0-0-0-en/info.html
It sounds like it's just the original OVA, not including Crusher Police (which the one I'm interested in seeing).

Yeah, that's the 1st series DVDs made by Toshiba EMI.
The 2nd series is by Bandai Visual and is available on Amazon.co.jp:

Thanks. I've ordered the OVA set. BTW Crusher Police Dominion (Rei Sakuma as Leona, replacing Hiromi Tsuru) can be bought as R3TW releases - 2 volumes - here http://mall.jsdvd.com/advanced_search_result.php?categories_id=&inc_subcat=1&keywords=crusher+police&x=0&y=0
Proware R3TW DVDs are as good as the R2J, in my experience from other shows.
Crusher Police might hopefully get a Blu Ray release, being Bandai...that would be cool indeed. :)
Wasn't CPM's release an NTSC->PAL->NTSC conversion? I'd assume that the Japanese release would be better quality regardless, if taken from a source that never went through such format conversions.
