Ha ha, oh man. Yeah, I'll probably end up getting both of these, but I might wait to see if I can get them on sale first. The 1st box, anyways.
The prelude is probably an upscale. I believe it was edited on analog video since it's basically a ZG clip ep. It looked pretty crappy on the R2 DVD.

When i first watched Z & ZZ (back-to back) i liked Z and was not impressed with ZZ especially that Char was scrapped from the show for the sake of CCA which i don't rate that much (no thanks to Tomino).
Now after re-watching them, i prefer ZZ more more than Z & CCA :) well not counting the Zeta movies which are a streamlined version of the series (and possibly all 3) IMO. Sight !! i want a ZZ compilation too :depressed:
I am not sure if i'll go for this one or not but i'll add it to my wishlist until further notice since my budget will be dedicated to couple of old school DVD sets and Shin Mazinger BD set(s) for this year.

There is a Char lookalike character in ZZ. He's called Pierre & Judeau runs into him during the desert arc. IIRC Pierre is hanging out at a bar & swings a mean fist.
I always thought Pierre = Char with amnesia (following his disappearance at the end of Z. If he had forgotten who he was, & what he could do - so living & acting as a non-Newtype, that would tie-in (albeit ambiguously) with what Sayla told Judeau about Char being undetectable. It might also explain Char's insanity in CCA.

It's not anime! It's real!

What's sadly real is Japan gets ZZ on BD, & the show on DVD never was released for R1. :(

Ditto! R1 needs ZZ! I can't remember the last time we got a Sunrise license from this decade.

It seems that BE have pulled the plug on any R1 release for ZZ and perhaps even Zeta Movies as that don't find them profitable enough to license/release. Sadly, that would apply to older Gundam shows in general :depressed:
I guess importing is the only to own them.

There was a LE 083 DD5.1 release, but OOP now. Wish I had bought that at the time. Wait for that on BD now. Hopefully MS08th will come soon - full series.

If by "men" you mean "whiny bitches." Amuro, Camille, Hathaway, Seabrook, and Usso are not pillars of manly men.

When your manliest man is Judea, you've got problems.
Setsuna's the "manliest" TV series gundam protagonist, honestly.
Followed closely by Loran.

Loran over Heero? Surely you jest?

It takes a real man to wear a dress.

Judeau is the teenagest of the teenagers who don't have massive daddy/mommy issues.
Setsuna? Manly? He enjoys getting his hair cut on the beach, while shirtless, and reveling in the beautiful angst alongside other boys of questionable sexual orientation. Also, does not tap that fine princess.

I always thought of Domon as the manliest, right behind Master Asia

Yes, Domon and Master Asia are SAIGAR, but are not UC Gundam characters. I wonder when we'll get G Gundam on Blu-ray.

Since they're going with ZZ Blu-rays after Zeta, it seems they're just going in production order (with First probably coming Last, like it was for DVD). So I guess V will be next, then G, and so on.

What about the Zeta movies ? It doesn't seem that BE will release them for the R1 market for some reasons so i have been holding out on getting the R2s for the BDs.

They might come soon since they wouldn't require remastering, but who knows.

They're among the >$30 Gundam movie DVD re-releases set for next month, so I wonder if that might be a reason for pushing back any sort of proposed Blu-ray release even further.

But they released Char's and F-91 before ZZ.

Well, I was mainly referring to Gundam TV series. I believe those movies were also released on R2 before Gundam ZZ was.

I'm really pleased ZZ is getting a BD release. It is THE Hamann Kahn show, & also affirms Bandai has not dismissed ZZ in favour of the ZG movies changing ZG's ending.
No show on BD could please me more, apart from NGE TV & KOR getting BD releases.
