Demon slayers, demons, and a young girl with mysterious powers and personalities set up plenty of options for action in this occult themed action series.

I found this book to be some good, harmless fun, though I agree with the review insofar as it's nothing that hasn't been done before and it doesn't accomplish very much in this first volume. One would also expect the titular sword to play a bigger role in future volumes, since, y'know, the series is named after it.

I didn't have nearly as big an issue with the art as Matthew seems to; while the action panels do get a bit lazy and indistinct, as happens in a lot of manga out there and to a far worse degree (I'm looking at you, Yasuhiro Nightow!!), I quite liked the art and designs overall. Yes, the style is a bit sketchy and on the simple side, but I feel it holds together well overall, and I'd take this artwork above the artwork in a number of other books out there.

I also like Nanami, not overwhelmingly so, but enough that her presence was one of the things that helped carry the book for me. The humor is good, and I appreciated somehow her attitude towards the whole situation she's abruptly thrust into to form the basis for the series.

Yeah, I personally love stories with occult themes and I like a lot of stuff Yen Press is putting out these days. So I have hopes this series becomes more engaging.

I currently have this manga under consideration. The review somehow brings to mind those anime where the first one to three episodes are mainly just to set up the story.

In regards to the content part, I get the strange feeling we're going to get one of those situations where either everyone ends up half-right or completely wrong in regards to their claims
