It seems like every few months this movie has a new writer, you would think it wouldn't be all that hard to adapt a story like Robotech. In fact Macross already had a movie version that some people would even say is superior to the original.
But as for the new writer he seems to be a good writer, but can he pull off science fiction.

Why is this news?
Seriously, it's Harmony Gold. They're like the 3D Realms (http://duke.a-13.net/) of anime, and deserve to be taken just as seriously (i.e. not at all).

There are times when I wonder if they've died off yet.

Not quite accurate, since Shadow Chronicles was ultimately released, and was actually good, IMO.

And speaking of which .... I for one have been wondering just when the Shadow Chronicles sequel is supposed to be released.
I really enjoyed the Shadow Chronicles story and was looking forward to a new sequel after all these years and then .... nothing .
I'm much more interested in a new animated sequel than the live-action movie.
Not saying that the movie wouldn't be good (which I do doubt just because of the transition from animation to live-action) it's just that I would have preferred them to concentrate on the animated story first since it was here first.
I guess I'm going to have to wait another ... what ... 20 years or so again? :(

Last I heard, Funi and HG were very pleased with the numbers that the movie sold, and a second animated film was in the planning stages.
Where did you hear that they wanted to do a series?

Yes, HG was planning a 2nd movie: Shadow Rising but apparently the live action movie has the animated project on hiatus.
