Color me surprised. I never thought this would be animated /SARCASM. A-1 and Satelight are animating. Nice. I've read the first volume of the manga and found it entertaining. Lucy is pretty hot.

As long as they don't end it with a big cliff hanger like they did with Rave Master, I'm okay with it.

I'm not surprised. I'm guessing they hope to have another Mashima monster hit ala One Piece.

Who cares about Lucy when it's all about Erza, the one on the far left.

Been waiting for this to be animated for a long time and having A-1 and Satelight do it exceeds all my expectations.

So have I. I was guessing they would wait longer so fillers don't come into the picture too often. I wonder if this will be a on-going series or have a set number of episodes. I absolutely love the manga and characters, hope they do a great job animating the fights.

Lucy is pretty hot.

I read the first 3 chapters a long time ago and it felt like a poor man's One Piece. I didn't see much resemblance to Bleach though.

Even if this series has a set episode count and doesn't go on for years, I have pretty much zero interest in this series. The only way I'll watch this is if I know the episode count and I hear the right things from the right people.

Yeah, the first few chapters are slow as it introduces Lucy to Natsu. Even with the slow 1st few chapters, the premise hooked me. Mages forming guilds to do jobs assigned to them and when you think large scale guild vs guild battles, its pretty cool.

Erza is the GODDESS!! Had to add that in.

Darn it, I had almost forgotten about that. In any case, I get the feeling I'm better off letting others test this series.

The mangaka knocked back several offers to animate this because of what happened with RAVE Master... A-1 Pictures and Satelight were the studios he ended up picking.

I must say that this came out of the blue for me. I didn't think that FT would actually get an animated adaptation.

It's a good thing too, since I've been on the fence on whether I should try that series or not.

That said, I'm fairly certain that the anime might get brought over here at some point. This could mix things up a tiny bit in the US Shonen anime market.

Well that is one out of two manga I was surprised weren't animated. So now I have to hope that 666 Satan gets an adaptation as it is actually done and over and only getting older.

I like the sound of that, hopefully that means a more quality adaptation will happen. Hey, if it's even half as good-looking as Satelight's Basquash, I'll be pleased.

mato45, I agree, I'd like O. Parts Hunter (666 Satan) to get animated too. A full adaptation by BONES would be great.

I'm actually rather indifferent to Erza. She's funny, not to mention crazy powerful, but she's nowhere near as adorable as Lucy.

Well, at least that gives indication that it was a carefully made choice. Only time will tell if the choice pays off.

Happy: Rie Kugimiya (The series mascot character, think Plue if you've seen Rave)
Gray: Yuuichi Nakamura

I like the casting, Tetsuya Kakihara should have no problems voicing Natsu and he can definitely be GAR when needed. I'm sure Hirano's casting will attract hate but honestly it's not like Lucy is a hard role to play in the first place... Rie's voicing a mascot character so it's meh, Yuuichi Nakamura will excel as Gray and Sayaka Ohara just keeps getting the bad ass roles. First Selvaria and than Umineko's Beatrice and now Erza, good casting for this role.

Having only read the first few volumes, Erza was easily one of my favorite characters. Good casting indeed.

Given all of the talent that will be involved in creating the anime, this is shaping up to be a must watch series.
