Dulalala! anime announced. (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-07-03/dhurarara-light-novels-to-be-animated)

Same writer and director as Baccano!, based on very good novels by the same author.

I was going to ask you about this in the Bakemonogatari thread but did't want to get it off topic and figured you'll get around to making this. So how's it compare to Baccano!? And how does Vamp! compare to both of them? I figure we'll end up with a Vamp! series before we see another Baccano series... if we see one at all.

Synopsis, genre, setting...anything?

Title is imminently unhelpful.

It's a little more serious, but definitely the best of his other works.
Main character is a Dullahan - an creature from Irish myth that is basically a headless rider. She works in Ikebukuro as a courier, her headless horse disguised as a motorcycle.
There's also an Anonymous style gang created an maintained in internet chat rooms and a sword that possesses people.

Vamp! is also interesting; I was pretty thrown by the ending to the first novel, and ended up not liking it much as a result, but the second and third were fantastic. I need to find time to read the other two. I mean, what other series has a vampire watermelon?

That is the most ungodly awesome concept EVER

I have to admit that sounds like a rather curious concept. Granted part of it will depend on character design and execution. I get the feeling I might try out at least an episode out of curiosity.

She has no head!
The novels are illustrated by Suzuhito Yasuda, so if you like his style...

I have to confess that I'm not familiar with his artwork. Actually I probably don't pay much attention to most names to be honest.

Well, that certainly makes it easy for the animators and the seiyuu: no need to be concerned about mouth flaps at all :P

Yazakura Quartet, Kamisama Kazoku, and I think he did the most recent Shin Megami Sama game...

Well, I'm familiar with Yazakura Quartet, but only by way of the anime. Have yet to try out the series in any other form. Still I was fine with the anime designs of the series, so if they can be used as any sort of gauge then...

Ahah! I just picked up the new SMT this weekend and was wondering why the designs felt so similar.

This sounds like it should be quite entertaining.

Suzuhito Yasuda, of Yozakura Quartet fame. And the most recent Megami Tensei, I think.
Illustrates half of Narita's series; a good artist, but more prone to ignoring the descriptions in the text, and has less variety to his faces than Katsumi Enami.

Hah! I was about to say that absent the context, I'd think that those were designs for the next Persona game.

Durr, I might have caught that if my eye wasn't on the crazy awesome shadows quite so much, all the better!

Hasn't actually worked on that...christ, that series sprawls. Took a while to pin it down:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Megami_Tensei:_Devil_Survivor

But Persona 3 does have some style overlap with it. The whole supernatural elements in a very urban environment plus school thing. Hopefully they'll also take a cue from Persona 3's soundtrack.

Dammit. I could have sworn I saw it on someone's "this season" list somewhere. Ah, well, back to being apathetic about Fall.
