Which is better for this game, PS2 or Wii?

Depends on what you're looking for, I suppose. I prefer the look of the Wii version with its vibrant colors and widescreen display, but some people prefer the PS2 version's visuals with the heavier "paper filter" and desaturated colors to give it that distinctive look. From a gameplay perspective, the Wii definitely has the advantage with the Celestial Brush controls (though they can be a bit finicky) since you can just whip out the parchment and just start drawing freehand. However, the PS2 beats the stuffing out of the Wii version with normal combat because you have button-based attacks instead of waggle (which gets old REAL fast in the Wii version).

I think the Wii version is the better of the two versions, but you need to pick the one that works best for you.

PS2 version is better. No, it's not widescreen, but the controls are actually usable, the paper filter (which is a pretty key part of the visuals) is much more pronounced, and the visuals just seem sharper overall. There were some comparison shots somewhere that made that last difference clear... but it was a while ago, so I dunno where it went.

I've been meaning to get this game at some point. Seems like there's so much hype about it.

The hype is justified. Okami is that rarest of rarities: a genuine classic in its own time.

I recently bought the Wii version, because it seems to be going OOP everywhere in the UK, tried to get the limited edition version w/ slipcover but had no luck :x

I can't say which is better, having not played either, but the Wii version was the obvious option for me : )

Nevertheless, I might try and get the PS2 version somewhere down the line, might import an old US PS2 and all the games I'd have loved to play at their proper speed, etc. That is if Sony don't get their act together and release old PS2 games on the PSN PS3 store : /
