Is anyone watching this? What are your thoughts so far? The first two episodes were great, I personally can't wait for more. It promises to feature an interesting Saint for Pisces so I am looking forward to that!Anyone else out there interested in the title?

I am. I know Jack about Saint Seiya, but it doesn't seem to complicated just the usual ancient evil/warrior of destiny stuff so I can follow it without much trouble. I'm liking it alright so far though I would like to know what a Karate trained Japanese kid is doing in Renaissance Italy.

Do you mean after Dohko found him? I think Dohko took him to Greece to train to become a Saint after he saw the potential in Tenma...

I'm interested. It's just that since it takes so long for new episodes, and we're only two eps in anyway, there's not much to talk about.

LOL, true! But the French and Brazilian fan forums are eating this up ;)
New episodes should get released in the coming week!

Just saw Episode 3 and I was very happy with it, the pace was a little hectic though - a lot happened! There's an additional scene for the Silver Saints, so that was quite nice, and a cameo from the main cast from the original series at the beginning... About to watch episode 4, hope it is as good, if not better :)

Saw episode 4. The pace was much slower than episode 3.... They should work on the consistency a little bit... Good episode though. The preview for OVA 5 features Albafica, who I have been looking forward to seeing. Bring on October!

I've been watching it :P
It's been a good adaptation so far. Then again, I've read very far into the manga, so I already know which characters I really want to see (especially Cid and Rasgado).

Hey Hey, glad to have you join Dragon Shiryu! I've been wondering where you were hiding! I am personally looking forward to Albafica as he seems like a great character to represent my star sign, and am also looking forward to the Cancer Saint they will have this time around...

Oh yeah, Manigoldo is a complete badass. I recognize I've been away for a long time. I rarely watch anime now, and well, I have a lot of work and have been finishing up a few things. I tend to lurk now and then over here!
For instance, I've noticed how the anime boom has died, and how companies have been impacted. I'm one that rarely buys DVD's now, since the economy is tight (as I said, I barely watch anime!). Not to mention, I was severely dissapointed when the Saint Seiya DVDs were left unfinished, so I became more wary of buying incomplete series since then (not to mention, I stopped buying ADV releases altogether).
How have you been???? Have you been following the Saint Seiya universe? Have you read Next Dimension? It seems Ikki'll appear soon!
What do you think of the past and present blending together?

At the moment I am quite satisfied with The Lost Canvas, very happy to see Shion and Dohko under this light. It's also great how the story moves along so far. The things that held Saint Seiya back at the beginning (such as not being clear which direction it was going, whether characters like Jabu would be part of the main cast etc...) have been ironed out, and I LOVED seeing Jamir again. The pace was great there, about 10 minutes explaining everything about repairing the armour - as opposed to the few episodes with terrible pacing we had about this passage in the original series. Overall though, I do not yet care for the characters like I did the original cast but that might be due to the story being the focus so far.
I have not read Next Dimension yet (I don't even know how Hades ends as I stopped watching those episodes 4 into Inferno). But it would be great if Ikki made a comeback :D
And I know what you mean about the economy. I have hardly been spending any money on overseas products. I mostly just shop within Australia now and much more irregularly than before. Not as into Anime as before either - I just rewatch what I have instead.

Oh my, you ought to yourself to at least read the Hades manga. It has some great moments. The anime conversion went downhill, but it was mostly out of the horrible budget. I can't really talk about Next dimension then, since it is revolving around a huge spoiler. I'll just say it started kind of messy, but it's been getting really good.
If you haven't read Lost Canvas either, then I can't speak much more. If I have to point out the pros and the cons, it would be these:
Pros:
- Shiori draws much better than Kurumada
- Gold saints have a much larger role
- The pacing is faster
Cons:
- There's no team like the original. A huge part of Saint Seiya's charm came from Shiryu, Hyoga, Shun, and Ikki. In Lost Canvas it's mostly either Tenma alone, or any of the gold saints. Yato and Yuzuriha just can't compare to the original group.
- Many scenes are shamelessly ripped off from the original. Then again, Lost Canvas is more like a Saint Seiya re-launch for a new generation. But if you know the original by heart, you'll say "Deja-vu"...
- This one's only for the anime, but, the music is good, but nowhere near Seiji Yokoyama's masterpiece work on the original.

I'll eventually finish the manga, I have all the volumes afterall! LOL
But you can spoil it for me if you want, I really don't mind as I would love to discuss one of my favourite series with someone :) I agree with you on the musical score so fast, hough we have not had a saint that fights using music yet, maybe things will change when that happens... I am also very glad that the Gold Saints come to the forefront. I kinda get that we don't have a main cast a la Shiryu, Hyoga, Shun, Ikki and Seiya as there is not really a prelude to develop such a group (we were thrown into the Holy War straight away in TLC {The Lost Canvas}, whereas Saint Seiya had the whole Sanctuary Arc to develop the friendships of the main cast). Cannot wait to see what happens next, although I wonder if this will get picked up for a second season, how is it diong in sales so far, if you know?

Hehehe no! Finish reading it, and then we'll discuss it ;) But at least in my opinion, the Inferno arc was excellent in the manga, and the animation didn't do it justice and did not grab the heavy atmosphere it had. It's mostly due to the change of director, which did quite a bad job on it.
For the gold saints, you'll be pleased. Pisces Alfabika, Taurus Aldebaran (in TLC it's said Aldebaran is a pseudonym for the Taurus saint, and his name is Rasgado), and Cancer Manigoldo are great. They redeemed these three zodiac signs from the original. Other particular favorites of mine have been Capricorn Cid, Leo Regulus, a nd of course Libra Dohko!
As for the original main cast, the author of the TLC is throwing hints to old fans. There have been quite a few characters that have been hinted as being the future bronze saints we love. Tenma has been officially said to be the previous reincarnation of Seiya, but the possible previous reincarnations of Hyoga and Ikki have appeared. If the character that might be Phoenix Ikki is indeed him, he's had an important role so far! The possible Cygnus appeared briefly for a few volumes and has been unheard of since.
Some poeple say that Alone is Shun's previous reincarnation, due to them having gone through the same situation, but I don't think so at all. But the possibility is there.
Sadly, we haven't seen a possible Shiryu from the past! :p

Now that definitely sucks! He is my favourite Bronzee in the original! The creators probably think that the dragons from Dohko's attack and the fact that he is Shiryu's old master enough of a reference to Shiryu so they're not gonna bother... I would LOVE to see the Andromeda Saint in TLC, to see if it happens to be a girl this time around...
I am appreciating the inclusion of the Unicorn Saint as a main this time around as Jabu was shafted from main to secondary when Kurumada thought he was too similar to Seiya...

LOL, so true! However he could just imitate the better episodes from the original series' style and make something quite special with that... Imagine Mime as a still image in a book... Breathtaking! :D
