Yay! Nice to see these come out in some form...
(Although to be honest, I'm hoping for an R1 release and just happened to see the title, it's still good news!)

While a US release for them is not unlikely, it is unlikely that they will be released together since VIZ & Animeigo would be the presumed releasing companies.

Hmm... good point. Viz might not release Urusei Yatsura even if they do get a hold of other specials. Figures are tempting but 19,000yen for 3 eps is quite expensive so I'll need to think about it for awhile.

I'm not sure about the exact terms of AnimEigo's license for the UY TV series, but in general R1 licenses are only for that specific release, not for subsequent new content in perpetuity. The only license that seems to exist like that is Harmony Gold's legal stranglehold on Macross.

Somehow, I think it would be unlikely that UY has a license for "everything UY forever", considering they didn't even have all the movies: CPM had "Beautiful Dreamer".

What's in the set?

"Rumik World" in the US has been Laughing Target, Maris, Fire Tripper, Mermaid Forest (OVA) from CPM and One Pound Gospel, Mermaid Scar from Viz. None ever had a DVD release.

Also now gone is Urusei Yatsura:Beautiful Dreamer, which CPM licensed before Animeigo could get it.

From the first post:

Rumic World was an exhibition about Rumiko Takashi's works from last year.

Of course i was just presuming based on the previous releases since i did state that VIZ & AE would be the presumed releasing companies. Yet we have no access or knowledge of their licensing contracts or even if those OVAs are in their plans in the first place.

About the R2 release, surly this is a hefty price for 3 Eps but it depends on how good the 3 figures are. I would be willing to pay that price for them alone and consider the DVD as a bonus :P
