I'm thinking about it, but my next console game purchase will be Infamous unless Uncharted 2 is out before then. Wolfenstein looks really cool, but I'm going to let the reviews and such decide for me, since I am very skeptical. I've pretty much decided that unless it is a game that is top priority (Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII, etc), I'll only buy it for $60 if the reviews for Game Informer, Game Trailers, and Gamespot average a 9 or higher. If they are between 7-9, I'll wait until it is between $30-40 before I buy it.

Very good chances that i'll buy it on release. Not 100% sure yet. I'll see friday when i go make a 3for1 pre-order at EB...

I'm saving up for Assassin's Creed II, CoD Modern Warfare 2, and Uncharted 2. Any cash after that maybe goes to this one.

I'm supporting my local studio (Raven is literally two blocks from where I work) and picking this up. Not to mention the original is the first FPS I ever played...ahh nostalgia!

Wow, talk about ruining the fun of a discussion...
Anyway, are there any reviews yet?

Yeah... good luck with that. One of the requirements for this "deal" is the following:
"Second, Wolfenstein needs to out sell Madden 10 in the month of August, based on NPD numbers."
 :sdsmiley:

 :sdsmiley:It's possible if everyone convinces friends and family to buy it. And of course a few people holding off buying Madden couldn't hurt. But the likelihood of an M Rated game out selling Madden is very low. Not to mention the only way I'd buy a slow paced FPS (A.K.A. all FPS these days) with Wolfenstein slapped on it, is if it came with: Wolfenstein 3D, all of Spear of Destiny and possibly the random map generator. If it had those on the disc I'd be happy to buy the game, just like I did with Doom3 Resurrection. Sadly I doubt that's the case, which means we'll probably never see a quality port of Spear of Destiny. I don't mean come off bitter, but it's been years since a good action based FPS was released.

The game was off my radar until one of the developers made the following offer on his twitter feed (http://twitter.com/manveerheir/status/3246400569):
Here's the deal folks: if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in August I will personally pay for your copy (keep your receipt) - SPREAD THE WORD
Further clarifying that he'll pay for anyone's copy worldwide, on any platform, but basing his numbers off of the NA NPD charts. A throwdown with Madden? A snowball's chance in hell for it succeeding, but I love the big brass ones he's putting on display here and will be picking it up for my PS3, assuming the scores don't completely bomb out first.

The SE Return to Wolfenstein (PS2) has the 3D original. I bought it pre-owned, but it had no activation code, & the disc is totally useless. Wolfie 3D can be bought as a GBA game, which is playable on DS & Lite BTW.

I just cannot see that happening. There is no way Wolfenstein can outsell Madden. Madden is going to do 25 for every 1 Wolfenstein.

Of course. That's why Manveer Heir was able to say that, because there's not a chance in hell of it actually happening.

Yup... it's just a PR stunt and one that seems to be slightly working.
I don't see any reviews listed on metacritic yet. My gut feeling is that it will get an average score in the low 80s (probably lower).

Err, where? Wait... what? When reading the thread, Tenkyoken's 7/29 post is the last I see before I made my post, but here on the Reply screen I see a whole mess of posts that quite literally don't exist in Hybrid or Threaded mode. Seems they show in Linear mode too, what the heck??

Threaded and hybrid mode probably fubar because I split and locked a part of this thread that went off topic. :relief:

It was also unlockable in Return to Castle wolfenstein for the Xbox. But Spear of destiny is only available on PC, and the only way to play that is through Steam, which I refuse to use. Not to mention it requires DOS in some form, which isn't exactly my idea of fun.
Sorry for derailing the thread.

Well with all of the dysmal reviews, I'll wait until this game is $30 or less. Why waste $60 on a lacking game that will be half price in less than 6 months?

Why even waste $30 on it? Just give it a rent.

Pre-Order from Play.com and get 2000 Wolfenstein in-game gold pieces, then use your gold to choose whatever upgrade you want on Day 1. For example, spend your gold on a silencer to increase your kills, on a healing aura Veil power to heal your allies, or on any number of other powerful upgrades. Enjoy an instant advantage against your opponents in online matches. Codes and instructions will be emailed week of release. Customers who have already pre-ordered will also receive a code.
So this is yet another move towards paying to cheat? Or I've misunderstood.
More and more games seem to be moving towards paid DLC that improves their character : /
It's getting really expensive to be a gamer these days!

Because renting it would be half that price.
