So, what're folks getting (or have already gotten) this month?

It's pretty slow for me, due to the ongoing shows I'm collecting and various things I'm interested in (or not, as the case may be), but I guess that's good for the ol' wallet. For the moment, plans include:

DVD
- Queen's Blade: Rurou no Senshi volume 3
- Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu volume 4.X: Sasa no Ha Rhapsody LE
- AIKa Zero volume 1

The two Gundam OP/ED collection discs will likely get added at some point, in addition to other items, though whether that's this month or next will depend on whether I get paid in a timely fashion or not. (*shakes fist at Net 30 contract clause*)

I'm also acutely aware that I should be buying this stuff on Blu-ray instead of DVD (except for Haruhi which currently has no Blu-ray option), but Blu-ray capability is out of my hands for the time being and I'm impatient, so it's not a big deal. Well, we'll see if I'm still so cavalier about it when I'm double-dipping on things several months down the road. :sweat:

I've been debating on whether to continue posting in the monthly purchasing threads in the R2 forum since this will be my last DVD purchase of any region. It's laserdisc & blu-ray exclusively from now on!

That's something I've been thinking about, actually. Folks have always used the monthly "What'cha buyin'?" threads in here as a catch-all for anything they're getting that's coming from Japan (and occasionally R3 places), rather than just limiting it to DVDs, which seems perfectly fine to me, even if non-DVD stuff technically falls outside the scope of this particular sub-forum (I don't think any mod for this forum to date has ever told anyone that it wasn't okay to post such stuff in here, especially not when the JPEG orgy threads have also been used in much the same way). Japanese Blu-ray releases kind of found a natural home here too, while U.S. Blu-ray releases have likewise ended up in the monthly threads in R1.

The trick is whether or not to mess with how things have naturally turned out. Start creating monthly buying threads in the Blu-ray forum for all Blu-ray releases regardless of country of origin? But then we (the staff) would have to start making sure folks were posting their manga and CD and merchandise purchases in the three other applicable sub-forums. And then we'd think that maybe it'd make more sense to just gather all of it up and do a big One & Only buying thread in General Anime every month where people could post everything they're buying.

Well, I'm not really advocating anything different (though I reserve the right to change my mind tomorrow, or next week, or after I've eaten some beef jerky). And I'm not piling on you, tseniv; yours was just a good comment to jump off of for the purposes of letting some brain contents spill out into a post.

Despite the name, I always sort of saw this as the "importers" forum. Figures have their own thread and music has always had its own forum, but there really wasn't a place to post everything else that people import. Granted, up until this month I always bought at least one R2 DVD.

To be honest, I think it would be inconvenient to spread the items out over multiple forums. So for me at least, BD or DVD doesn't really matter. An import is an import. Well, I guess we don't have to have a place.
