Season 1 was cell animated, while season 2 was digital. Which means a proper HD version of season 1 is possible, while it is almost definitely NOT possible for season 2 (unless Gainax was insanely ahead of the game, which I severely doubt).

I'm a longtime fan of this series myself, and I'm glad that Gainax still has their minds set on a series that I thought they had forgotten about. It's been, what, half a decade since they finished the second season?

But yeah, having it on blu-ray would be a dream come true.

I wonder if series 1 wasn't remastered so it wouldn't look better than series 2 (and would probably look better in ways than Tadaima Okaeri) or some other stupid reason. At any rate, it would appear that Geneon can no longer be fully trusted for Blu-ray releases, I will now wait for pics/reports before buying anything cel-animated from them.

At that price its really tempting, but the listing right now only proxy stores through Amazon. Hopefully it'll come back in stock proper before the sale is over.

Okay, yeah that's normal. It's ¥2000 for one item (¥1700+¥300), which is about $26 because the exchange rate is just fucking heinously bad.

That's why buying just one item at a time from Amazon tends to be a real buzzkill and I always get at least 7 items together, preferably 10 or more. Though that only works if you order a lot and regularly.

I almsot didn't go for it, but then I saw it still came out to less with shipping than the bluray alone was at cdjapan, so I went for it. I've waited long enough to pick up this OVA.

Just got my copy today, and to my surprise, it was actually the LE with the bonus CD(s) included, all for the lower price. And here I was complaining about shipping... :)
