Favorite Club and/or Student Council Presidents.

Note the following I am not talking about "Presidents" in the sense of things like being the President of a country or anything like that.

Rather, I'm talking about things like being the "Student Council President" or perhaps the President of a Club. Be it an art club, a light music club, etc.Those type of Presidents. The one that's either the leader of a focused group such as a club.

Also, I'm using "President" as a generic term. In some cases, they might be called the Chairman, Leader, Director, or something else along those lines instead. Those will be considered close enough.

With that hopefully made clear, your mission if you choose to accept it is to name some of your favorite characters that fall under this type. I will bring up some of mine in a reply to keep the root post clean.

On a side note, I might be willing to allow some breathing room in case you want to mention other people of authority. Such as for example a vice president of a student council. Just try to mostly focus on the Presidents for lack of a better term.

[Classical]

One character that comes to mind immediately is Hisa Takei from Saki. She's head of the mahjong and Student Congress President of her school. She's just so awesome and cool. She's quite calculating.

There's probably other favorite characters of mine out there, but I have to dig a bit deeper and see who they are. Does Class Rep/Prez count for the sake of this thread as I'm not really sure if they count based on the original post?

Awara Chikako aka A-san ~Director of the Art Club~ from GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class

I love her voice. Her personality. She's attractive in a modest way. She's just divine.

Mizubuchi ~Director of the Campus Living Club (She's also the only member)~ from GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class

I have to admit, she's actually here in part because she goes great with A-san, but I do like her in general.

Amamiya Manami aka Manabi ~Student Council President~ from Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight

For providing plenty of energy to the series and being a primary reason it will likely remain in my most wanted list forever.

Tainaka Ritsu ~Light Music Club President~ from K-ON!

The core reason why I love K-ON! so much. The girl is awesome in so many ways and without her we wouldn't have a series in the first place.

Katsuara Hinagikua ~Student Council Presdient~ from Hayate the Combat Butler!(!)

A very strong and interesting character over all. Sometimes I did get frustrated with her, but she does ultimately come through.

Takei Hisa ~President of the Kiyosumi Mahjon Club and Student Congress President~ from Saki

She's like the awesome. Plus just the congress thing alone should be enough to earn her a spot.

There are quite a few that spring to mind straight away...

Hinagiku Katsura (Hayate the Combat Butler)
She may not be my favourite character in the series, but that is not because I don't like her. She is easily my second favourite Hayate character, and is cool as well as being easily flustered. Having Hinagiku and Ayumu in one scene is the best thing to ever happen in Hayate.

Takako Kimura (Kannagi)
The president of Kannagi's Art Club, and a Fujoshi in training. She likes what we all like, and is awesomeness incarnate when she gets a hold of the karaoke microphone.

Yuki Fukuzawa (Maria Watches Over Us)
I considered voting for Sei Sato, since the three roses technically all lead the student council - but decided against it since it wouldn't really be fitting the spirit of the question. Yuki however is the leader of the Hanadera council, and is a remarkably likable character. Every bit his elder sister's younger brother, he somehow maintains Yumi's charm whilst seeming more grown-up than his more expressionable sibling.

Satomi Kanbara (Saki)
Who? She's the ever present, ever laughing president of Tsuruga Academy's Mahjong Club. I just love how she appears but nobody seems to remember that she's the captain. Plus I love her character design. I could have easily chosen Touka, Mihoko, or Hisa here - because they're all also awesome.

Chika Ogiue (Genshiken)
The tsundere fujoshi, yaoi lover, and adorableness on a stick that is Genshiken's fifth president. She appears in a dramatic manner as she jumps from the window of the Manga Club, and makes her way to the Genshiken, where she almost does the same. Thanks to the people in the Genshiken, she really mellows and learns to accept her love of anime, and her growth is easily the best thing in the second half of Genshiken.

Erika Vermillion (Mahoraba ~Heartful Days~)
The head of the occult club... she's a bit freaky and is always trying to get Tamami to attend the club meetings. Tamami could throw insults and curses at Erika to get away - but that would only make her happier. She is a wonderfully dark masochist!


There are probably a million others that I'm forgetting. I would mention some that have already been done so, Ritsu and Manabi specifically, but I went for some other favourites of mine for now...

Well, all ready a few of my favourites and obvious ones picked (Hina, Hisa and somehow Ogiue already...gah) but let's go with a few others...

Kirino Chiba (Bamboo Blade) - The club captain of the kendo club. Sure, Tama-chan has the badass moe, but Kirino is the heart of the team, always smiling, always helping, always glomping Tama-chan. And that :3 smile always makes my hearts a twitter...

Chikaru Minamoto (Strawberry Panic) - This series has a lot of yuri angst, a lot of painful characters you want to slap, a lot of fear and a lot of annoyance. And then you have Chikaru, with her cosplay dress up dolls, her puppet club, her cooking, her acting and just lets the angst of Miator and Spica go over her head and have the fun of her harem as Lillum Council President. Chikaru is awesome and the only reason I managed to finish StoPani.

Akira Takano (School Rumble) - People tend to forget she's the Tea Club President - Akira is just...well, Akira. It's so hard to read her yet she's so unintentional funny and badass. Hanai in particular has to fear her wrath after his failing stalking to Yakumo at the tea club...point black and with signs to boot. She just kicks ass.

Tamaki Suoh - Ouran High Host Club - I had to put him in there. The 'Lord' of the Host Club, he's just simply hilarious. Sure he's a bit out there, a bit dumb, and a bit aloof, but he has a great heart, comic genius and his relationship with the Host Club is a big thing. Special points also to Nekozawa from the same series as the club president of the Black Magic Club. Hilarious.

The 3 Roses - Youko Mizuno, Eriko Torii and Sei Satou from Maria-sama ga Miteru. They are the power who controls Lilian. Sachiko, Shimako and Rei doesn't even come close to their splendour.

Mion Shinozaki - She is the club president of some club in Higurashi and at the same time the class rep. She's the only one not going insane. ;)

Takako Kimura - President of the Arts Club in Kannagi and also a fujoshi, albiet she doesn't realise it herself.

Some of my favorite buchou (club presidents) in anime...

Furukawa Nagisa - President of the Drama Club (Clannad)
Tainaka Ritsu - President of the Light Music Club (K-ON!)
Takakura Takeo - President of the Magic User's Club (Magic User's Club)
? - President of the Occult Research Club (Mahoraba)

Nagisa may not seem so leader-like at first, but the struggles with the drama club and the friendships she makes is a big part why the first Clannad series is so endearing (she's so awesome :) ). Ritsu may be irresponsible at times, but I like her laid-back, fun direction (even in Mio and Azusa may not approve sometimes). Takeo may have his faults as leader, which he acknowledges, but he is very interested in magic and sometimes inspires the others (especially Sae). It leads to hilarity too, which works. And speaking of hilarity, Mahoraba's occult president has an extremely amusing relationship with Tamami, which was one of my favorites out of supporting character plots in the series (even if she doesn't have as much focus being one).

Huh, this series has guys? :P I've only watched the first series though and they barely seemed to be there. Haven't seen too much of Yuuki so far. Need to watch more (actually just got second and third in yesterday)

But Kashiwagi Suguru totally steals almost every scene he's in, especially later on. God I love him, he's fantastic. I don't remember what I thought of him in the first season though, so you not taking to him yet might be totally understandable. I do know my opinion of him was better as time went on than it was initially.

Can't say I have too much of an opinion now, since he was only around for one episode (I think) in the first series. I did really like that episode.

I do wonder if I should blaze through these series now or spread them out a bit to where it won't be too long until RightStuf gets to releasing the 4th series (don't even have a date yet on that, though?).

Akira is awesome. Her omniscience and her matter-of-factness are some of her best traits

A Student Council President thread is not complete without mention of Touga Kiryuu of the Ohtori Student Council (Revolutionary Girl Utena). He's got a lot more on his plate than just running the student government. Between skirt chasing and road trips to the End of the World in his red car... Touga's a busy man.

Heh, truth be told, I didn't really have Class Reps in mind. Although given their positions, I should count them as well. For one major reason. It means I can mention people like Andou Nene from Hyakko!
